TV Show Analysis Essay Overview, English homework help

you will create an essay outline (OPTIONAL) and then write an analysis paper that discusses how gender roles/stereotypes present themselves in the television show you chose.

TV Show Analysis Essay Overview

This week you will create an outline for a 750-1000 word analysis essay on theme of gender in the family TV show you watched.

Your essay will include a clear thesis and well developed key ideas with topic sentences and supporting examples. The essay will also follow the conventional organization of the following three elements:

– Introduction: introduces the subject/s being analyzed and, in a thesis statement, states the reason for the analysis and the main ideas/claims that support that reason. Your thesis should be the last sentence in the introduction.

– Body: contains at least three body paragraphs that begin with topic sentences (supporting arguments) that prove your thesis. Each topic sentence should be a reason why your thesis is true.

– Conclusion: summarizes the analysis and explains new understanding.

Suggestions to develop the body of the essay:

Analyze the characters’ representations of gender (summary does not belong in an analysis!)

The thesis and topic sentences should be the strongest, most analytical sentences in your essay.

Support each point with specific examples and details from the episodes you watched

Relate each point of analysis back to the thesis

Follow a clear organizational pattern

Include transitional words and phrases to make your observations clear

NOTE: Aside from quotes/paraphrases from your sources, you may not use any text from your TV Discussion Post in your essay.

Sample thesis statement (Gilmore Girls)

Lorelai in Gilmore Girls fulfills the stereotypical gender role of the mother; however, she also goes against societal expectations by fulfilling the unconventional roles of father and peer.

This introduction should be suitable for an executive audience. Provide a brief explanation as to why three major operating units believe the company needs this capability.

2.An analysis section in which you address the following:

  • A recommendations section in which you identify and discuss five or more best practices for security and privacy that should be implemented before the technology is put into use by the company. Include at least one recommendation in each of the following categories: people, processes, policies, and technologies.

Testing Simple Deductive Arguments

Instructions:

The square of opposition and the operations of conversion, observation, and contraposition can be used to test the validity of many deductive arguments having only one premise. For each of the following, assume that the premise is true, then state whether the conclusion can be determined to be necessarily true using either the square of opposition or one of the three operations. If it can, indicate which move on the square, or which operation, preserves truth from the premise to the conclusion. If the argument is invalid, a true conclusion will not guarantee a true premise. Be sure to indicate any such cases among the arguments.

Communication Assessment

Communication Skill Assessment

Most of us have situations in which we find it difficult to communicate. Improving your written communication skills and being comfortable speaking to people are extremely important. Develop a two- to three-page APA-formatted paper in which you analyze your personal communication skills. Be sure to address the following:

  • Describe the assessment you used to analyze your skills.
  • Discuss your communication gaps.
  • Describe any additional training you need in specific areas of communication.
  • Analyze how you can improve your current communication skills to prepare you for advancement in your profession.

Your paper must be two to three pages (not including title and reference pages) and must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide. You must cite three to four scholarly sources in addition to the textbook.

PSY408 Discuss the Nature vs. Nurture Debate

In practice hardly anyone today accepts the extreme positions of gender development being guided solely either by heredity or environment. It is difficult to accept an “all or nothing” view, so, perhaps, the question should be as to how much of contribution each makes.

In this comprehensive Signature Assignment you will debate nature vs. nurture factors and theories in gender development supported by scholarly research throughout. If we accept the view that heredity and environment both influence our gender identity the question that intrigues researchers is how do the two interconnect or where and when they start overlapping?

You will explain the theories you will be discussing and include advantages and disadvantages of each of those theories if accepted in its totality, for the individual and for the society at large. Finally, you will state an argument for integration of both theories as you see it.

As we discussed above, gender development research is very complicated in its practical sense of executing such a research with minors as well as in the topic itself. More and more researchers are adopting the integrating focus of biological and environmental impact on development.

For your Signature Assignment, you will consider aspects of this Nature vs. Nurture debate in research, making sure to include the following in your final paper:

  • Introduction to gender development concepts
  • Biological theories
  • Cognitive/behavioral theories
  • Family/social impact on gender development
  • Stereotypes
  • Cross-cultural perspectives
  • Conclusion supporting your own views based on the research

Length: 10-12 pages

References: Include a minimum of five scholarly articles published in the last five years in addition to any seminal work if needed. In addition, you may include scholarly websites or other scholarly resources.

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.

Report to a Decision Maker

 References page, with references listed in APA format

In the report, you will do the following:

 define the problem persuasively and accurately

 propose a solution or solutions to the problem or issue

 present that solution to a decision-maker or group of decision-makers who can implement
the recommendation.

My subject that I’ve chosen is incentive strategies to encourage employee physical fitness. Ways that I will discuss these strategies would be implementing paid time for employee exercise; smoking/tobacco cessation groups; and stocking the vending machines / employee lounges with healthy snacks.

My visual will be a graph showing sick days used by people on the programs, and sick days used by people not on the programs.

Expound upon the request memo I’ve attached below. 5 pages single spaced. 7 sources cited.

IP 5 DUE Startegic Choices

Reminder: Initial Discussion Board posts due by Friday, responses due by Tuesday

Students will be expected to post their first initial discussion board posting by Friday of each week. Discussion posts will be graded and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

Students are expected to post their responses to peers by Tuesday. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

Primary Task Response: The Discussion Board assignment for this week will be a review of the Key Assignment draft from other students.

Note: The Key Assignment is listed in the Unit 5 Individual Project task description.

Your first task is to post a detailed outline of your Unit 5 IP to the discussion area so that other students will be able to review your work. Attach your document to your main discussion post, and include any notes that you feel are appropriate in the post. The purpose of this assignment is to help improve the quality of your Key Assignment.

Respond to Another Student: Review at least 2 other students’ draft report and provide meaningful feedback. Refrain from generic feedback, such as simply stating “good job.” Your feedback to other students will be most helpful if you not only point out weak areas but also offer suggestions for improvement. The best feedback takes a three-stage approach to identify what was done well, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
