Post a discussion

Purpose:
This forum is intended to help you craft your ideas about Allen Ginsberg’s Howl. Writing your analysis, reading and commenting on others’ analyses, and receiving feedback about your analysis will help you craft your essay response to the passage.

On your post:

1. Select 1 passage from Howl. (The words passage and quotation are used interchangeably and mean the same thing.)
◦ Your passage may include an image since the images are part of the author’s writing. You may also piece together multiple passages using ellipses (…) in between.
◦ Be sure to include the page number(s) after the passage, like this (17-18).
2. Write a short summary of the passage (1-2 sentences).
◦ this is just to get the summary out of your system and to be able to focus on an analysis
3. Analyze the passage you have chosen (3-4 sentences).
◦ What does is show you as a reader?
◦ Can you apply the theoretical lenses to the passage? What does that reveal about the passage?
◦ What is your interpretation of the passage?
◦ remember to avoid summarizing the passage
◦ remember to avoid making overgeneralizations based on the text.
4. See sample below.
5. **Your post must be original and dissimilar to other students. This will be factored into earning points.
6. Then, reply to two other students, commenting on their analysis and offering additional feedback.
7. You should read through the discussion thread and create an original post. If your ideas are similar to another student that has posted before you, you should mention him/her and build on their comment in your post.**Evidence of reading though the discussion thread is factored into earning points.

EXAMPLE:
Passage: “Nan said to Tess, but projecting for the benefit of the front, ‘Truly, are we so superior as we think? I wonder little. When we first moved in at the mine, we did something at the house so stupid am still in pain. There were two pawpaw trees growing side by side by the house, one thriving with nice big pawpaws on it and the other sick-looking and leaf-less – dead looking. Well, we thought it was plain what we should do: take down the dead tree. So we hauled and pushed on the trunk of the poor tree and strained and pulled it over – uprooted it, Gareth and myself. It was his idea: we must just straight off do this, get it over. Then, with the crash, the servants come out. They had funny looks on. Dineo said, so quietly, ‘Oh, Mma, you have killed the male.’ We didn’t understand. It seems the pawpaw grow in pairs, couples, male and female. The male tree looks like a phallus – no foliage to it, really. The female needs the male in order to bear. They take years to reach the heights ours had. Then the female died. The staff had been eating pawpaws from our tree for years. It was a humiliation” ( Rush 21).

Summary: Nan is explaining to Tess how she and Gareth dug up a tree that looked like it was dead, but that they learned from the natives that they were all wrong about their interpretation of the tree. It looked dead but the other tree needed it for its survival.

Analysis: The pawpaw trees function as a symbol within the text. They symbolize the hierarchic relationship between the men and the women in the text as well as the hierarchic relationship between the whites and the blacks in the text. When Rush writes that they “uprooted” the tree, it brings to mind the appropriation of colonies and cultural upheaval.

Unit 7 Journal Management

You will complete a Journal each week.

Each week, you will work on one aspect that will help you prepare for the course and reflect. Consider this Journal as study notes. This Journal will provide an opportunity to capture new ideas from knowledge gained and record your thoughts throughout the course. This will also give you an opportunity to record questions you may wish to research further in preparation for other assigned work. Please remember that copying and pasting your own notes without revising is a form of self-plagiarism.

Begin your post with the label: Unit 7: Supply Chain Management.

Research the following topics related to supply chain management:

  1. Procurement
  2. EDI
  3. Risk management
  4. RFID
  5. Supply chain uncertainty

Select three of the topics listed and compose 3 paragraphs describing the topics (1 paragraph per selected topic) based on the course material and additional research you conduct online.

    • Poor spelling and grammar/punctuation will also result in a loss of points.
  5. Academic Honesty: When submitting written work, students are on their honor. Any student found to have engaged in plagiarism will be subject to disciplinary action per college policy. Students should review the College’s statement on plagiarism on the course menu.

Fixed Asset Project

Please refer to the attached document for specific requirements.

Please answer the following questions and provide the requested information for Santa. (And be sure to follow the directions and answer the questions to the best of your ability to avoid getting coal in your stocking this year.)

  1. Complete the fixed asset schedule with the new assets.
  2. Using the functions embedded in the spreadsheet, the IRS tables and using formulas to complete the calculations figure the amount of depreciation for each asset. Your finished fixed asset schedule should have depreciation for 2017 and 2018 for each asset. You should also total the depreciation expense for the assets for each year. Print out the fixed asset schedule, formatted to one page, and turn in on December 5 in class. Also upload your electronic Excel file to Canvas before class.
  3. Calculate the gain or loss for the two disposals in 2017. Be sure to include gain or loss for each year reporting is required for the sale of both assets.
  4. Assuming Santa has adequate income, which of the assets obtained this year by the LLC are eligible for Sect. 179? Does Santa have any limitations on the amount of Sect. 179 he would be allowed to take? If so, what are they? If not, why not?
  5. Which of Santa’s new assets are eligible for 50% bonus depreciation treatment?
  6. Should all the new assets purchased be added to the fixed asset schedule? If not, identify any that should not be added and explain why.
  7. Santa has still not named his two new reindeer. If you have any ideas, please share them.

As always, please turn in any workpapers with your assignment. Your grade will be calculated on the accuracy of your calculations for depreciation and gain or loss, and your ability to follow directions.

Unit 6 Assignment Bos Assessment

For this Assignment, you will be completing an assessment based on Bo’s story.

Assessment Form Template

Bo’s Supplemental Information

Sample Assessment Form

Watch Tammy’s Story and review Bo’s Supplemental Information in the link above.

You are encouraged to use all of the information that Bo shares in the supplemental information when completing your assessment. Complete the Assessment form in as much detail as possible using the information presented about Bo and the instructions below. The links for the video and transcript are located below.

The assessment is the stepping stone to helping clients clarify their goals and change objectives, so be sure to apply all three levels of the Ecological Model from Chapter 3. The assessment should accurately reflect the interrelationship between Bo and his environment and his presenting situation.

The assessment should also reflect the NOHS Code of Ethics and strengths-based assessment and service recommendation. Culture should be respectfully factored into the assessment as well.

Client safety and risk assessment should be accurate, clearly documented, and reflect critical-thinking skills. Safety plans should be included if appropriate. Substance history should be thoroughly and accurately completed.

The diagnostic impression and clinical summary should reflect critical thinking. They should also be clear, least restrictive, strengths-based, and written in understandable (jargon-free) language.

Recommendations and disposition should reflect critical thinking. They should also reflect an ecological framework and address the presenting situation and recommendations from a person-in-environment perspective.

All fields in the assessment form should be properly completed and open-text narrative sections should be clearly documented with relevant details or explanations as needed.

Sign and date the form appropriately by typing your name, Bo’s name (his first name is fine) and Tammy’s name, since Bo is a minor, and the date completed at the end of the assessment.

If you encounter questions or areas in the form that do not apply to Bo, you may enter “none” or “client chooses not to answer.” State licensing standards do not usually allow the use of “n/a” in these forms. Some of the check-box areas in the form only need to be completed if they apply to your client; you do not have to type in “none” on those unless it asks for this. You do have to type something in all the open narrative places in the form or type “none.”

Submitting Your Assignment

Save your Assignment in a location and with a name that you will remember. When you are ready to submit it, select the Dropbox and complete the steps below:

Loyalty Management, marketing homework help

TOPIC 1: Loyalty Management

Go online to the M&Ms website (http://www.mms.com/us/index.jsp) and evaluate it. You will have to go through more than just the main landing page—click on the current contests and other pages to get the data you need. What does the company do to build loyalty? To build community? Are there opportunities for feedback? Does the company partner with other organizations to leverage the loyalty those other companies enjoy with their customers? If so, what is the company doing? Overall, what do you think is most effective about the site? What is the least effective? Are you a loyal customer of M&Ms? If so, why?

These questions are meant to stimulate your thinking and you don’t have to answer each and every one them, especially if another classmate has already covered the topic adequately.

TOPIC 2: Cause Marketing

Many companies use cause-related marketing to build their customer relationships. You see this when a product or service indicates a portion of each sale will benefit a specific charity.

Check out the blog www.selfishgiving.com. Scroll to the author’s list of best cause-related marketing campaigns of 2014. Pick one to share with us why you think this was a good cause-marketing campaign.
