Discussion Board Replies

Please reply to each discussion board posting. I have attached the grading rubric which contains the instructions for academic source, course textbook and word count for the replies.

Course textbook:

Jick, T. D., & Peiperl, M. A. (2011). Managing change: Cases and concepts (3rd ed.). New York, NY: Irwin/McGraw-Hill. ISBN: 9780073102740.

Topic:

The case of Yinscape and Yanngsearch was designed to provide minimal information on this merger/acquisition. Re-read the case study and imagine the shape and spirit of a newly-merged, cross-national company. You are to assume the role of Yinscape’s CEO. In this role, you must envision a new future for the combined companies. Your thread must describe how you will communicate your vision as though you are addressing a meeting of Yinscape and Yangsearch’s top managers shortly after the acquisition. Creating a compelling vision is a task that requires forethought and sensitivity. In addition, the challenge is increased when you must communicate that vision to a potentially hostile audience. In preparing your thread, consider what questions and concerns you need to anticipate; think realistically about the possible results of the meeting, and decide on what steps to take immediately after the speech.

Prepare your thread in accordance with the Discussion Board Instructions, and review the Discussion Board Grading Rubric prior to posting your thread and replies.

Disease Model Versus Positive Psychology Worksheet

Read the scenario and answer the questions in no less than 200 words each. Support your responses with detail from this week’s assigned video and reading. Include APA-formatted citations and references.

William is a 44-year old project manager for a large commercial construction firm. He started out as a gifted carpenter who greatly enjoyed designing and building custom furniture. However, after several promotions, he focuses on bringing in new business. He spends many work hours at his computer or on the telephone. He is divorced and rarely sees his two daughters. In recent years, he has gained weight and is displeased with his appearance, but has no interest in or energy for exercise. He does not sleep well because he worries about business problems at night. He was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure. Although he is financially secure, he rarely takes vacations or socializes outside of the office. He has begun to feel that his life is pointless.

  1. Discuss William’s situation from the perspective of traditional psychology. What information would be most important? What conclusions and recommendations might be made by a psychologist working from the disease model?
  2. Discuss William’s situation from the perspective of positive psychology. What information would be most important? What conclusions and recommendations might be made by a psychologist working from the positive psychology model?

write about a company uses Porter five models

The content in Module 2 includes the study of frameworks that may be used to assist in industry analysis. The discussion this week centers on frameworks and their usefulness, attributes, and strengths.

Table 2.1 in your textbook, Foundations of Strategy, shows a listing of profitability of U.S. industries. Pick an industry of interest to you, and research leading Middle Eastern companies in that industry. Develop a convincing argument that Porter’s Five Forces Model would or would not be a useful tool for this industry.

Tip: Using the Saudi Digital Library search engines, and key words such as industry analysis framework, industry analysis comparison, nonprofit strategy, 4 Ps model, Porter’s Five Forces, and others, will yield plenty of credible resources to use in this discussion.

  • Embed course material concepts, principles and theories, which require supporting citations along with at least one scholarly peer-reviewed reference in supporting your answer unless the assignment calls for more. Keep in mind that these scholarly references can be found in the Saudi Digital Library by conducting an advanced search specific to scholarly references.
  • You need to reply to at least two peer discussion question post answers to this weekly discussion question. These post replies need to be substantial and constructive in nature. They should add to the content of the post and evaluate/analyze that post answer. Normal course dialogue doesn’t fulfill these two peer replies but is expected throughout the course. Answering all course questions is also required.
  • Use Saudi Electronic University academic writing standards and APA style guidelines.

I need 3-4 paragraphs only to answer this question

You will turn this in class.

Module #2 – Discussion Board

Read instructions for Analysis Essay. Follow the instructions carefully. Once you have completed your essay, you will participate in a discussion further with your responses to others.

It is very important for you to comprehend the importance of each discussion to your grade. Discussions are 50% of the course grade. Not meeting minimum words for your essay and responses will result in a substantially lower grade. Not submitting essays and responses that meet the discussion criteria, as per instructions, will also result in a lower grade.

Module # 1 Discussion (scroll to the bottom of this page for complete information)

Critical Thinking in an Online Discussion – Students will:

  • have a meaningful dialogue.
  • develop academic writing skills.
  • develop critical thinking.
  • learn from one another.

Students will be required to participate in all 8 discussions in this course. Your grade will be determined by the standards set in each module. You must post your own analysis essay first before you will be able to read essays posted by others. In this assignment you are asked to write an essay of no less than 300 words and participate in a discussion. Your essay should be referenced by at least two citations from two different sources. You may use the Utube video as a third source.

  1. Read the information I provided in the document ” Proper Example of Essay Presentation.” If you quote something, a number or author’s name must be placed in parenthesis after the quote, then noted at the bottom of the essay in your bibliography. Same for something you paraphrase anything from another author. If you miss these important instructions, your grade will be lowered. Read as many essays written by others as possible in order see some of the better essays posted by others. Ask yourself, did I forget to include something, overlook any requirements, what can I do to make my essay worth total credit due? No WIKI and no encyclopedias allowed for discussion board essay. Use only scholarly references.
  2. Respones must be 200 words minimum and specifically to that which authors have posted, plus your own thoughts. What was the topic they posted? What was it that you liked/disliked or enjoyed reading about? Did you agree with what they posted? You are required to respond to them by name. This is not a copy and paste response. You may choose to do some internet research to support your original answer and responses to others.
  3. Please do not wait until the end of the discussion to participate. Use the college library for scholarly references. You may use GOOGLE for more information for original sources. No WIKI or encyclopedia sources allowed. Do not use either as a source of information.
  4. Failure to meet minimum words requirement for an essay or response will result in a grade of zero for that post.
  5. FEEDBACK TO LEARNER APPEARS WITH YOUR DISCUSSION BOARD GRADE. READ IT.

In every discussion essay for this course, supply your sources. After a sentence or paragraph that you have “borrowed” from any author, use ( page number and author’s name). Then, at the bottom of your essay list your references in a bibliography. You should attempt to use original course for primary information, not WIKI. Using WIKI as you primary source will result in a lower grade. This policy applies to all discussion board postings for your analysis essay.

TOPIC FOR THIS ANALYSIS ESSAY:

  • “Choose one of the topics found in the list of Mini-Lectures. Name the video and complete your analysis essay on that topic.

WORD COUNT: Right click on word count, then open in new window” and check the number of words in your analysis essay. Place that number at the top of your essay and responses.

Disabled and Education

Disabled and Education

  1. Locate a full-text, peer-reviewed journal article on any learning environment. I encourage you to find an article that has specific connection with ideas or areas of work that are of interest to you.
  1. Read the article. Create a PPT slide show (6 slides) to use as a guide in discussing the article you selected with the class. Remember, the purpose of the PPT slide show is to guide or enhance your discussion – not articulate it; hence, text should be used sparingly. Post your slide show to the “Makerspaces Article Search and Critique” discussion forum available through Blackboard under “Discussions.” Include full citation information; if possible, make the article accessible to the class.
  1. The content of your in-class presentation should include an overview or summary of the article delineating the authors’ main research question(s), method(s), major finding(s), and conclusion(s).

(Other potential avenues of discussion may include the article’s social and educational implications, unanswered questions or directions for future research, quality of analysis, etc.)

  1. Be prepared to ask thoughtful questions and/or thoughtfully comment on at least two of your colleagues’ presentations.

training session There are several instructional methods and activities

Part one

There are several instructional methods and activities that can be used to deliver training. As a trainer, you should have a broad awareness of different kinds of instructional methods so that you can recommend and utilize the most appropriate solutions for the specific learning objectives.

List and describe three types of training methods. What type of activity is it? What types of activities precede and follow it? What learning style(s) does this activity accommodate? What adult learning characteristics does this activity incorporate? Discuss the pros and cons of each method. Lastly, using Bloom’s taxonomy, create a training objective for each instructional method. Be sure to consider the specific skills and knowledge to be learned in the training in order to appropriately apply each instructional method.

Your initial post should be 250 to 300 words. Use this week’s lecture as a foundation for your initial post. In addition to the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text, use at least one additional scholarly source to support your discussion.

Part two

A successful trainer needs to effectively engage various types of trainees and adapt quickly in the learning environment to meet their needs. Chapter 8 of the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text lists and offers tips on dealing with different participant personalities. Review the three scenarios below. Discuss how you would effectively engage and manage each group of participants in a 2-day training seminar. Apply two to three specific adult learning principles and/or techniques to each of the scenarios listed below.

Scenario A
Your colleague is a training specialist who has just concluded an activity on techniques for overcoming challenges in the classroom. He clearly understood the content, but did not ask questions of the group to confirm their understanding. In addition, when explaining activities, the directions were not clear and there was never an opportunity to ask for clarification. What constructive feedback would you give to your colleague?

Scenario B
Your colleague is a department manager who has just opened a training session. Her opening included group introductions, but she went directly into presenting content. About an hour later, a few participants began talking out of turn. What feedback would you give to your colleague on the impact this may have had on participants, and what could have been done differently to avoid this situation?

Scenario C
Your colleague is a human resources manager who just completed an activity followed by a group discussion. The activity went well, but the debrief did not. As the facilitator, he had trouble getting the group to answer his questions. The group did not appear to be very engaged. What feedback could you give him on how he could get participants to participate?

Your initial post should be 250 to 300 words. Use this week’s lecture as a foundation for your initial post. In addition to the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text, use at least one additional scholarly source to support your discussion.

Part 3: Reflection on a Professional Development Strategy

Based on your research and exploration, answer the following questions:

  • Which professional association do you feel will be most beneficial to join upon entering the field? Why? What opportunities will membership provide (e.g., networking, conferences, publications, divisions, leadership/service roles, continuing education workshops/courses, certification, training programs, etc.)? Might there be an opportunity to develop one of the skills identified in Part 1? How do you plan to take advantage of these opportunities?
  • What is the focus of your selected conference? Who hosts the conference? Where is it held? If it is upcoming, what’s on the program? What talks, workshops, and events would you be most interested in attending? How might your attendance help you develop the skills identified in Part 1? Who are the speakers? Is there a call for papers/participation? What kinds of presentations do they look to include? How would you pay to attend? Are funding opportunities available? **If the conference has passed, look at the previous program, etc. to answer these questions.
  • What kinds of articles/information are included in the major publications you selected? Who is the publisher? Who are the authors? How do you know this is an important publication in your field? Are the articles practical in nature or research-based (or potentially, both!)? Does the Shapiro Library have access to these titles? If so, how will you keep up with these titles after graduation? Why is it important to ‘keep up’ with this kind of information?
