Ethical Decision

I’m mildly shocked that Hartman, et. al., do not offer a citation to a seminal paper addressing business/society and the environment.By that, I mean: “Tragedy of the Commons”, by Garrett Hardin, as found in: Science, New Series, Vol. 162, No. 3859. (Dec. 13, 1968), pp. 1243-1248.

A functional link to a pdf can be found at:http://pages.mtu.edu/~asmayer/rural_sustain/governance/Hardin%201968.pdf

If that link is broken, please search for the title in your favorite search engine.

Please access it and give it a read—it is only five pages or so, and well worth your understanding.

“We want the maximum good per person; but what is good?To one person it is wilderness, to another it is ski lodges for thousands. To one it is estuaries to nourish ducks for hunters to shoot; to another it is factory land.Comparing one good with another is, we usually say, impossible because goods are incommensurable.Incommensurables cannot be compared…”(1244)

Question #1:What ethical framework from chapter three would seem to support this statement?Do you hold with Professor Hardin’s continuation after this quote that claims: “…in real life incommensurables are commensurable.”?How so?

Question #2:What real-life “Tragedy (Tragedies?) of the Commons” do you see in business/society today?

Loss Prevention and Crime Prevention 2 Questions

DO NOT SIMPLY RESTATE THE QUESTION! Support with facts.

1. Why do you think businesses invest in high tech security surveillance systems and then fail to man them during critical hours? This is a common practice in retail which commonly uses their system to investigate after the fact. Is it due to one of the five methods of risk management? Justify the company’s actions for this behavior.

Clinical Field

Details:

Allocate at least 2 hours in the field to support this field experience.

Part 1: I Do, We Do, You Do Observation

For this field experience, you will observe your choice of a Grade K-8 class during the introduction of a new literacy concept. Coordinate with a Grade K-8 teacher to find a time to observe the introduction of a new literacy concept.

During your observation, take notes on the teacher’s instruction and complete the “I Do, We Do You Do Template” to identify the methods your mentor teacher uses when introducing the new concept in literacy. Not all teachers will use the same models, but do your best to identify the IWY components observed in the lesson plan. If the teacher does not use the IWY strategy, then explain his or her teaching strategy.

Part 2: Teacher Collaboration

After observing the literacy lesson, collaborate with your mentor teacher, take notes, and discuss the following:

  1. What instructional methods do you use when introducing and teaching a new concept in literacy?
  2. Does your model include direct instruction, guided practice, and independent work?
  3. What strategies do you use to create class interaction and discussion?
  4. Can you give examples of how you differentiate for your students?
  5. How do you assess your students’ understanding of new concepts being taught?
  6. How do you accommodate the engagement and understanding of atypical students?
  7. When and where do you find the most gaps when introducing a new concept in literacy?
  8. What are your reflections on the overall degree of effectiveness of your model for teaching new concepts in literacy?
  9. How do you seek professional opportunities to improve instructional practices in the area of literacy?

Ask additional or follow-up questions as appropriate. Be sure to take notes regarding your teacher collaboration on the “I Do, You Do, We Do Template.”

Part 3: Reflection

In 250-500 words, summarize and reflect upon the observations and collaboration about the instructional strategies that were implemented during the literacy lesson. Explain how you will use your findings in your future professional practice.

Submit the “I Do, We Do, You Do,” template, teacher collaboration notes, and reflection as one deliverable.

You also incorporated research into this draft.

Assignment Instructions

In this assignment, you will refine that thesis and essay even further and develop your argument. You are required to incorporate your instructor’s feedback in your Final Paper and to take peer feedback into consideration.

Kant’s argument for the claim that we are bound by the categorical imperative, philosophy homework help

Prompt: In Groundwork section III, which is attached, Kant claims to provide a deduction of the categorical imperative. In 500 words or less, explain Kant’s argument for the claim that we are bound by the categorical imperative.

There’s an
introductory paragraph and a wordy outline for the essay. Just fill in the
details some more, cite, and format.

In Groundwork, Section III, Kant claims to provide a deduction of the categorical imperative. The deduction has two main steps: 1.) showing that we must assume we are free, even though we cannot prove this and 2.) showing that “pure practical reason” requires that we make our reasons for acting universal, the first formulation of the categorical imperative.

  1. Freedom: In order to think of ourselves as moral agents—as responsible for our actions—we must assume we are free. However, we cannot prove this through any observation using the sense, and neither can we prove it using pure reason alone, that is, metaphysically. This is because we cannot know what things are “in themselves”—including our own selves, which means we can’t know we’re “really” free. If we’re free then we exercise choice, which means we use reason.
  2. Pure Practical Reason and the Categorical Imperative: When we apply pure reason—reason that does not employ the senses—to the question of how we should act, that is, morality, we exercise “pure practical reason.” Since pure practical reason is reason, it is regulated by principles of universality and necessity: by what must be the case (necessity) for all moral agents (universality). But this requires that we abstract from all subjective considerations, which means considerations of happiness. What is left is the requirement that what is necessary applies to all moral agents. In other words, what is required is that our reason for acting—our maxim—be capable of being made into a universal law of nature that applies to all moral agents (the categorical imperative). If it can’t—if it is self defeating (e.g., lying: if I made my reason for lying universal, then everyone would do it as well and everyone would expect lies, so my lie would be self-defeating)

I don’t want to use any other sources beside the ONLY ONE Attached.

Kohlberg’s Theory section, psychology assignment help

Post an example of a situation that is a moral dilemma. Next, explain how someone would response to the situation from each of the 6 stages of moral development. Explain what each stage is and what a response would be at this stage. Do it for each of the 6 stages.

Refer to Chapter 9 section on Moral Development. Kohlberg’s Theory section gives an example about Heinz which you can use as an example. After the story, it gives an example of how the Heinz story would apply in each of the 6 stages of development. You need to do the same thing with your own example of a moral dilemma.

ALSO: give feedback to other students’ examples – offer other possible responses or give additional information about how the situation fits the Kohlberg model.

Reminder: You must post your own response and reply to others to receive full credit.
