Epidemiological Study Designs in the Media, social science homework help

Nearly every day, public health studies appear in the media. The studies often include epidemiological research. The type of study design used in an epidemiological study can have a profound impact on how the study results are analyzed, interpreted, and reported. Common study designs include case control, cohort, cross-sectional, and community intervention trials.

Based on media descriptions of the research, however, facts about the issue under study may appear less than obvious. Media reports may sensationalize results and overstate outcomes. Someone familiar with epidemiological methodology may note a lack of detail in mass media reports of research findings compared to articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

For this Discussion, locate a mass media article published within the last 3 months that describes findings of an epidemiological study using one of the following study designs: case control, cohort, cross-sectional, or community intervention trial. Be sure that the article is about an epidemiological study and not another area of public health. In addition, locate the peer-reviewed research article that the mass media report is based on.

By Day 3

Post a (2 page, 3-4 References, APA format) summary of the study you found and include the citations for both the mass media and the peer-reviewed articles. Explain what epidemiological concepts are included in the mass media article (e.g., measures of association, study design, confounders, and bias) and how they compare to those in the peer-reviewed article. Describe any obvious omissions from the mass media article that epidemiologists critiquing the study would need to know. Finally, give your assessment of how well the mass media article represented the actual research that was conducted.

Have attitudes changed as we move from early Native American Literature into later and present-day writings? What writers, along with specific examples, might you cite that represent this shift? What is the focus now and how does it compare to other minorities we have explored? Feel free to compare an early writer to a more recent writer (1945 and after).

Discussion expectations defined: You will be asked to select a quote from the reading each week to incorporate in your first discussion post. This means that you will also include an in-text citation and reference for each quote (Author, year, p. X). Your post should be around 200-250 words in order to receive full credit.

here is the the reading this week

Secondary Thread: Respond, with additional information, to another post

PRIMARY ENTRY: Communication is an essential part of our daily lives. We want to be heard. We want to be understood. In an organization, communication from the president and CEO to the lowest member of the rank in file is critical to their daily operation. It also creates a significant impact on all employees. For a business operation to be successful, communication to clients and customers is essential. Although at times, many people are faced with challenges in effective communication. Effective communication is getting the message across.

I believe the greatest challenge to effective communication is when the sender of the message fails to first listen to the recipient of the message. For example, is when a public speaker fails to listen or understand his audience. The speaker can prepare his presentation diligently. It can be as organized as possible with all the graphics and charts included. He can deliver his talk confidently and flawlessly. However, in the end, the audience fails to understand his message.

The speaker needs to understand first the communication needs of his audience. It will ensure that the message gets communicated effectively. The speaker needs to put the message in the context that matters to the audience. The speaker also needs to see things from the perspective of his audience and not his. The speaker needs to focus not only on what he wants to say but also on the things that his audience want to understand and assimilate. When the speaker gets the audience, he is able to convey his message effectively.

please write an reply post with additional information. 1-2 paragraph is enough.

have we forgotten the meaning of labor day

Watch the Utube presentation and post your thoughts by Friday evening.

please write 100 words about this viedo as ur opinion

Also, I want from u please to write tow comments about my classmate’s opinion

The First comments is to Megan Reese

For most Americans, the Monday of the first weekend in September is a holiday that signifies the end of summer. While enjoying the sporting events, cookouts and parties that often accompany this summer finale, many people are unaware of the significance as to why they are celebrating. Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States established to recognize and celebrate the effort and achievements of workers in our country. At the end of the 1800s during the Industrial Revolution, working conditions, wages, and hours were brutal. Any labor laws that did exist were loosely enforced and there were almost no restrictions for child labor. Labor unions began to form which encouraged rights for workers and held strikes against unsafe conditions. In 1882 the first Labor Day parade took place as workers in New York marched for their labor rights during the first Monday in September. Just over a decade later in 1894, there were strikes at the Pullman Palace Car Company (a railway company) resulting in the deaths of 30 strikers due to police intervention. In the same year, President Cleveland made the first Monday of September a legal holiday marking Labor Day as a time to honor American workers. To college students, Labor Day is a nice day off from classes that helps ease us back into the school year, but it is important that we remember why we have this three day weekend every fall.

The second comment is to Jemel Kate Adaya

Labor Day, celebrated on the first Monday in September, evolved after a labor movement in the 1800’s during the Industrial Revolution. It is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of many American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. It also ends summer in most northern parts of America. To us, it is a long weekend where we go out to the lake, go to picnics, or go to the beach and enjoy it with our family and friends. It may be a day set aside for people to enjoy the end of summer, but we must always remember its roots to honor those 30 workers and other protesters who sacrificed and made it possible for us to celebrate since the 1800’s.

Resourcing human resource

Industry: Ford company

Identify an industry or industries. Students are supposed to select
one company to study, and conduct some research on the compensation and
benefits offered by the company they select. Students are encouraged to be
creative in the ways they conduct their research. For example, you can go to
the company’s employment site in order to learn about their pay and benefits;
talk to people who work at the company (where possible) and ask them directly
about their pay and benefits (where appropriate). You are required to report your findings. Facilitate a discussion on the differences in
pay and benefits philosophies, and consider how a pay and benefits policy
impacts employee loyalty and retention.

– For the assignment the content of the report should be between 2500- 3000 words long, with 1.5 spacing using Times New Roman font size 12 with 1” margin all around. Students should write the word count of the content (excluding cover, reference list and appendices) on top of the Marking Scheme.

– The research journal articles and other supporting articles from various sources

– Students are to incorporate American Psychological Association (APA) mode of referencing

I need to answer the DB’s questions, and there are two subjects.

please remember that – simple posts without advance vocabulary (international students).

– I need them with references APA.

–Here are the questions for the first subject:

For this part I need at least 2 paragraphs for first and second question.

You can look at these units to answer the following questions:

1. Unit 4 – Exercise Design Steps

2. Unit 5 – The Tabletop Exercise

1.The first step in determining the kind of exercise that should be conducted in your facility or community is to systematically study an updated HVA or conduct a needs assessment, then write SMART objectives. List at least four SMART objectives that you think should be included in designing a response to a natural hazard such as a tornado, which has created a collapse requiring people to be rescued. Make sure that they all meet SMART criteria.

2. Here is the scenario – You are planning a tabletop exercise designed to solve a recurring problem in your pre-hospital system. This is an urban system with a total of 10 paid paramedics and 20 paid EMTs. There are also 15 volunteer EMTs. The problem is that communication among the various EMTs and paramedics and among responding units is less than optimal. Problems include lack of interoperability and failure to use standard terminology.

a. Determine who the players should be. Write an email notice inviting them to a tabletop with an explanation of what you hope to accomplish.

b. Write a communication scenario that will allow the players to address the problem at hand.

c. Make a list of facilities and materials you will use in the exercise.

Here are the questions for the second subject:

I need 2 different answers for this part as 2 students answer these 5 questions.

You will find the book in the attachment.

You should have easily finished The Unthinkable by now. In this book, journalist Amanda Ripley explores how we react in a disaster and why. She also discusses how we can better prepare ourselves for survival when faced with the unexpected. Use the following questions as potential starting points for discussion. You don’t have to answer them sequentially or even answer all of them! Please share your honest perceptions and points of learning –

1.Reflect on this book and how it impacted you. What was surprising? What was confirming?

2.Did anything you read influence you in the present or in terms of what you will do (or not do) in the future?

3.What did you learn about how people react in a disaster event? Did anything surprise or fascinate you?

4.If you could share one thing with a loved one or peer, what would it be?

5.Feel free to share anything further that was impactful for you –

I am trying to upload the book , but I can’t, so I will provide you the name of the book.

It’s called the unthinkable who survives when disaster strikes for the author (Amanda Ripley)
