Assignment Requirements

Use the following four-step process to describe, analyze, interpret, and judge the artwork you selected:

1. Name and describe the facts. Simply identify the objects in the artwork by describing what you see.
2. Analyze the facts. Using the language of art, describe what elements of the artwork catch your attention. These could be elements such as shapes, lines, colors, or textures.
3. Interpret the evidence. Based upon what you learned in steps 1 and 2, what do you think the artwork is about? What ideas, moods, emotions, messages, or stories do you think the artwork communicates?
4. Judge the work of art. Do the objects, elements, and meaning of the artwork achieve the desired result, in comparison with other works of art?

For your course project, you will focus on how art functions in your chosen career path—as a reaction to how visual culture illuminate concerns in the workplace or even as an effort to create social change. In this discussion, you will brainstorm ways in which creativity and art are meaningful and relevant to your life—in your major or career, at your workplace, or in your personal life. Brainstorming and discussing ideas here should help you choose and focus on your project topic.

Write an expository essay on a topic that you understand better than most people. Your topic may be academic, but it may also be based on a hobby, interest, or experience.

Choose the definition, process, cause and effect, classification, or compare and contrast mode of development. You may also find yourself combining these modes (read the essays in your textbook to see how other writers have successfully combined these expository modes).

Since you are the expert on this topic, most of the information in this paper will come from your own knowledge and experience. However, you must also include information from another reliable source. The best way to use your additional source is to fill in the gaps in your knowledge or to provide a different point of view on your topic. You should not choose a topic that you would have to research extensively. You must document this source with in-text citations and a Works Cited page following MLA guidelines.

GUIDELINES FOR PAPER – Leadership Development & Change Management

Introduction

The introduction section of a paper is intended to provide the background information that is essential for the reader to understand the nature and scope of the problem you have selected and why you are researching the problem. The introduction helps the reader better understand the focus of your proposed research effort. Key literature citations may be included in the introduction to reinforce the need for researching the proposed topic and build credibility for your proposed research. The introduction is NOT intended to be exhaustive! The minimum standard for the introduction is generally three paragraphs, or approximately one to two pages in length.

Problem Statement

The problem statement provides a brief description of a specific Strategic Leadership Change Initiative (problem or organizational change), as a result of conducting your research. It should be clear, concise, definitive, unambiguous and readily understood by anyone who reads it. Focus on the “change initiative” you will be examining and express it clearly and concisely.
