Learning how to learn is just as important as what one is learning. Learning to learn, or metacognition, is about becoming aware of one’s strengths and weaknesses as a learner. It is about acting on that awareness to change the way one does things. Once you are aware, you gain control over future learning situations.

Reflection as a form of metacognition or “thinking about “thinking” enables you to evaluate your experience, learn from your mistakes, repeat your successes, revise, and plan. Therefore, you will be practicing this reflective thinking process by self-assessing your own grammar and writing skills – identifying your strengths, and more importantly, your weaknesses that you will need to focus on for improvement.

Continuing your research into ideas/problems/questions about money, you will create a multi-genre researched essay. It is very unlike any other assignment you have probably had before. Although it still requires research, you will have the freedom to express your research through different genres.

A genre is “a way of classifying things” (Lunsford et al. 846). By expressing your knowledge and understanding about money through different genres, you’ll learn how a genre affects how the reader receives the information you are sharing and how genres function to explain something complex in different ways.

Design a New School

This Assignment assesses the following course outcomes:

HN 377-6: Design ethical interventions to serve children and adolescents.

PC1.1: Work in teams to achieve collective goals.

You have noticed several schools in your community have been reporting failing scores and are struggling to engage students. In this Assignment you will be working with a group of peers to design a new school to serve the children in your community. The design of the school will be based on what you have learned about the concept of multiple intelligences through your textbook and at least two additional sources.

Create a minimum 15 slide PowerPoint presentation incorporating the following elements:

• Compare and contrast traditional theories on intelligence with Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences.
• Based on what you have learned about the theory of multiple intelligences, describe how students in your new school would be grouped.
• List the subject areas that would be taught in your school and describe how learning would be assessed.
• Describe how Gardner’s theory would help shape the layout of the school.
• Explore the characteristics and strengths that the teaching staff should comprise.

Please keep the following expectations in mind:

• A minimum of 15 slides (not including title, team member page, and references slides).
• A title slide with a title that clearly indicates the topic of the presentation.
• A team member page with each team member’s name.
• Use one basic slide design and layout.
• Use charts and graphs as needed.
• Limit slides to between 6 and 8 lines of content.
• Use bullets for your main points.
• Use speaker notes to fully explain what is being discussed in the bullet points as though you are presenting to an audience.

When approaching the future of human society the inevitable truth is there are some discussions that must be had. For example the rising population and limited room for agriculture in less developed countries can become a detrimental issue if not taken seriously. Now with a rising need for food with a rising population, two solutions come to mind. You can increase the amount of land that is cultivated for food development, or you can make more food with the same amount of land and a controlled use of genetically modified organisms to produce bigger and more produce. My topic for this upcoming project would be the second solution. GMO’s when used correctly can be widely applicable in agriculture to defend against pests as an alternative to environmentally damaging pesticides, to enriching specific foods to have more, or new vitamins which can help prevent malnourishment in children. However GMO’s can be abused due to their lack of federal limits and companies abusing the products for profit.

Alternatively the rising sea level and its effect on coastal ecosystems is yet another topic that must be discussed when thinking globally. Rising sea levels due to climate change can force animals on land to relocate or become endangered/extinct as well as introduce new possible invasive species to an ecosystem which can heavily impact the resulting area. The con’s I see of discussing this topic is because it is something that is not happening currently there is only theoretical impacts and not much hard evidence.

2- My two topics are the globalization effects, and what are the factors that lead international students be succeed in the U.S universities.

For the globalization effects the international students’ decision and goals, with the development of globalization for the whole world that impact the economic, culture, foods, and life style. Globalization has contributed to the growth of the global economy, increased cooperation among countries and improved the living standards of the people of the world. I think that globalization not only brings positive effects to the world, it still brings many negative effects. For example, globalization has increased the gap between developing and developed countries，and developed countries use cheap labor from developing countries to produce products. But overall evaluation of globalization is positive.

For the factors that lead international student be succeed, most international cannot adapt the U.S universities’ life because of the different language, different learning system, different life environment. Most of international may faced the issues when they first came to the U.S to study, which are academic and social issues. If an international student want to be succeed in the U.S universities, they have to adapt the U.S study environment and overcome the both issues.
