ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ON Effects of Fiber in Diet.

Instructions: The elements of this assignment are:

I. Critically examine and summarize at least 3 credible, scholarly sources and include them in your annotated bibliography.

II. Discuss for each source why it is timely, credible and scholarly (part of that is why the author is credible).

III. Discuss how each source relates to your paper and why you are using it. There is no minimum word count on this assignment, just be sure to cover the 3 areas above for each of your sources. If you would like to do more than 3 that is fine but 3 is the minimum.

Use APA formatting. As you examine at least 3 sources, keep in mind this is NOT just a list of references. Be sure to address the above objectives for each of your references. That means you would list each reference in APA or MLA format and then immediately follow the reference with your annotation (which addresses the objectives). Double-space both your reference and the annotated discussion. The first reference and its annotation would be followed by the next reference and its annotation, etc. Remember a minimum of 3 annotated sources is required.

Three Sources for Resistance, Most Useful Activity

At the organizational level, resistance to change can come from three sources. Technical resistance comes from the habit of following common procedures and the consideration of sunk costs invested in the status quo. Political resistance arise when organizational changes threaten powerful stakeholders, such as top executives or staff personnel, or call into question the past decisions of leaders (Cummings & Worley, 2015). Cultural resistance takes the form of systems and procedures at reinforce the status quo, promoting conformity to existing values, norms, and assumptions about how things should operate. There are three major strategies for dealing with resistance to change (Cummings & Worley, 2015):

(1) Empathy and support – This strategy is the first step in overcoming resistance is learning how people are experiencing change.
(2) Communication – People resist change when they are uncertain about changes and their likely results can reduce this speculation and allay unfounded fears.
(3) Participation and involvement – This is the most effective strategies for overcoming resistance is to involve organization members directly in planning and implementing change.

Which strategy is often overlooked? What is the impact when you overlook that.

Respond with a 100 word paragraph.

This chapter describes five kinds of activities that change agents must carry out when planning and implementing changes. The first activity is motivating change, which involves creating a readiness for change among organization members and overcoming their resistance (Cummings & Worley, 2015). The second activity concerns creating a vision that builds on an organization’s core ideology. The core ideology and envisioned future articulate a compelling reason for implementing change. The third task for change agents is developing political support for the changes (Cummings & Worley, 2015). Change agents first must assess their own sources of power, then identify key stakeholders whose support is needed for change and devise strategies for gaining their support. The fourth activity concerns managing the transition of the organization from its current state to the desired future state (Cummings & Worley, 2015). This requires planning a road map for the change activities, as well as planning how to gain commitment for the changes. The fifth change task is sustaining momentum for the changes so that they are carried to completion (Cummings & Worley, 2015).

After spending two-weeks with this chapter, which activity did you find most useful? Most challenging? Why?

write an essay with 5 paragraphs answering the following question

Optimism versus Pessimism

Some feel that families today are in deep trouble because they are different from their own family of origin. Pessimists point to the high divorce rate, increasing number of children born out of wedlock, and mothers entering the workforce as signs of family decline. Optimists feel the wide variety of acceptable relationships available allow people to create a family that is best for themselves. People who know the scientific facts as well as their personal feelings about marriage and family are in a better position to understand themselves and build successful and satisfying intimate relationships.

Do you feel optimistic or pessimistic about families today? Do you tend to think about the negative impacts of families changing or the positive?

Look at the following website that gives suggestions for strengthening the family.

analyzing a musical composition essay

For this assignment, you may use outside music hosting sites as a resource to support your research or to locate a composition.

1. Select a musical instrument to explore through research. For example, if you select the guitar, conduct some research on the guitar as an instrument so that you can discuss its origin, age, and diversity of use. You are NOT being asked for a research paper on the instrument. However, you ARE being asked to understand the fundamental structure of your instrument so that you can analyze the tones and sounds it produces for this assignment.

2. Identify a musical composition that features the instrument you have selected. This does not mean that the music is performed only by one instrumentalist, i.e. a guitar solo. It means that the instrument you selected, i.e. the guitar, must be one of the primary instruments in the selection. Perhaps the guitar has a solo section within an ensemble piece, for example.

3. You must know the composer of the music you have selected. You are NOT being asked to provide a biography of the composer. You ARE being asked to find a brief profile on the composer, enough information to give you an introduction to that artist, and to enable you to provide a short profile of the artist, and nore imprtantly what their relationship is to the music.

The heart of your essay must focus on applying some of the elements of music you read about in your chapter to your song and how the instrument employs these elements. Prepare a 3-4 page response paper that discusses your selected instrument and the composition you have chosen. Explain why you have chosen the instrument to study and the composition to listen to. What have you learned about your instrument through focused listening to your music selection?

Please explain the composition in terms of the elements of music covered in the chapter and in the supplemental material in the assignment area. Focus on describing your composition through the correct terms such as tone, rhythm, if the tempo is set by the instrument, what types of sounds it produces, etc.

Please feel free to write about any type of music you wish, but make sure you have identified one specific song to analyze as the basis for this assignment. Be sure to include the title of the song, the composer, and the musician if they are different from the composer. MLA format is required.

6 Art History Questions ?

Mortality and Immortality

Please answer the questions bellow:

1.Cemetery Tour Graveyards and cemeteries are interesting, historical places. Each community has a final resting place of the prominent members of that area, usually accompanied by an equally prominent tomb or headstone. Outside of cemeteries, what is the most elaborate tomb that you can think of in your state? In the United States? What is the role of commemorating the dead in our culture? Does it differ for leaders and dignitaries? What purpose do cemeteries serve beyond sanitation?

2.Reliquary A reliquary is a small shrine which contains the relics, or fragments of clothing, sacred objects or body parts, of an important person, usually a saint. The Reliquary Arm was built to house an arm bone of an unidentified holy person. It seems rather morbid to hold bones or other remnants of body parts, but it seems that most of us keep body parts ourselves, such as baby teeth or locks of hair. What purpose do reliquaries serve in our culture? What about collecting articles from a celebrity? Name some examples and discuss their role in our society.

3.Burial Objects Rulers and prominent people were buried with elaborate objects, such as thousands of clay soldiers, gold jewelry, food, clothes, pets, and so on. For what purpose(s) would the deceased need these objects? What are people buried with today?

4.WTC Memorial There was a call for entries to construct the memorial for the World Trade Center in 2003. Eight designs were selected as finalists, but the Studio of Daniel Libeskind was selected as the winner. Go to the WTC site and view the works of the 8 finalists. Discuss the mood of each. Which work would you have chosen? Why was Libeskind’s design ultimately chosen?

5.Solstice and the Sun Newgrange is a complex burial mound in Ireland. On the morning of the winter solstice, the rays from the sun enter a passage on the roofbox and illuminate the center chamber. The winter solstice has been incorporated into rituals, ceremonies, and practices in many cultures. It’s no coincidence that important religious holidays, such as Christmas and Hanukkah, are celebrated around the time of the solstice, which usually occurs on December 21 or 22. Why is the winter solstice so important in celebrations and rituals? Why was it important for Newgrange to have the winter sun beaming into the center chamber?

6.Dia de los Muertos Diego Rivera depicted the Day of the Dead in his fresco of the same name, Dia de Los Muertos. The Day of the Dead has roots in Mexico and in Latin American countries and is celebrated November 1 and 2 (All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day), mixing Christian and Aztec beliefs. It is a celebratory and festive event, honoring dead ancestors. Look at Rivera’s fresco carefully for details of the celebration. You will see calaveras, or skulls, skeletons, sugar skulls, and skull masks. How does it reflect both Christian and Aztec beleifs? Compare and contrast it to other works in the chapter.
