Assignment 2: Software Engineering, CMMI, and ITIL

Worth 125 points

Realizing that an organization’s CMMI level impacts an organization’s success on requests for proposals (RFPs), your CIO wants to get the software development processes to CMMI level 3. Your organization has started developing software applications and database systems for their customers. The CIO wants to ensure that the software development and database development processes are being properly managed and audited, and he wants to ensure that the organization begins taking the necessary steps to progress to CMMI level 3. In preparation for your response, review the CMMI information available at the Carnegie Mellon Website, located at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/cmmi/.

IT managers will commonly manage software development and systems integration activities. Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe the software engineering process, the challenges in managing software development activities, and the potential interface issues from the software development perspective.
  2. Analyze the CMMI levels and define a roadmap that the organization will need to follow in order to get their software development processes to CMMI level 3. Note: This is important because the CMMI level that an organization achieves impacts their software development reputation.
  3. Explain the auditing tasks that must be performed in order to achieve level 3.
  4. Determine the continuous assurance auditing activities that the organization will need to implement to help achieve CMMI level 3.
  5. Analyze the ITIL service management guidelines and principles.
  6. Examine how ITIL service management practices relate to CMMI levels and continuous service auditing.

Discuss what types of damages Albert may claim

Albert is a short-order chef and has always dreamed of owning his own burger joint. After years of waiting, the opportunity arrived when he heard that Burgers-R-Us, a national fast food chain, was planning to open a franchise in his town of Freedonia Heights, in the state of New Freedonia.

After several months of negotiations, Albert has signed a contract with Burgers-R-Us, and is now the proud franchisee of a store that is scheduled to open on the second Friday in January.

In preparation for the opening, Burgers-R-Us has furnished Albert’s store with kitchen equipment, tables and seating, lighting and signage for inside and outside the store. Albert has purchased aprons, hats and latex gloves ($3,347.68) for his staff and “Grand Opening” banners for outside ($1,026.59). He placed advertisements in the localPennysaver magazine and in the Heights Gazette to hire cooks, cashiers, waiters and cleaning staff ($1,375); the ads are running for four consecutive weeks. He hasn’t hired anyone yet, but has interviewed several potential candidates. Albert also gave BRU a deposit of $17,000 to secure his rights.

In consultation with his accountant, Albert has projected that in his first six months, he will have an operating loss of $23,000, but that by the end of his first year he will show operating profits of $78,000 for the year and that he will be profitable each year thereafter. These estimates are based on what Albert has been able to find in newspaper articles for other types of franchises in other cities. He has no specific numbers relating to his own franchise.

Six weeks prior to the scheduled grand opening, Burgers-R-Us notifies Albert that new market research has shown that the franchise is not likely to be successful in Freedonia Heights and the franchise contract is hereby cancelled. Outraged, Albert sues Burgers-R-Us in New Freedonia state court for breach of contract.

Discuss what types of damages Albert may claim, which types is he likely to be awarded and what amounts he is likely to be awarded. Be sure to thoroughly explain your answers.

Final report

Reflection and practice is an important and critical component of entrepreneurship education as most entrepreneurship courses involve doing and making entrepreneurship. As the last assignment of this semester, write a 2-page essay on the following questions:

Reflect on your overall experience and how you have developed as a student and entrepreneur through this course and other entrepreneurship courses that you might have taken (if any). What specific knowledge, skills, and experienced have you gained? How do you plan to use and apply the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained from this course? What further research, knowledge, experiences, and/or training do you need in order to succeed in the future?

From the Primary Source – Damsel in Distress, history homework help

view videos and pdf below and write 1-3 paragraphs summarizing your thoughts. below are some questions to possibly answer in your writing.

From the Primary Source – Damsel in Distress:

  1. Do you think that gender-related information conveyed in popular media/video games can affect personal perceptions and cultural standards about gender?
  2. Do you think these games have an impact on the beliefs about women’s roles in society?
  3. How do these video games reinforce traditional gender roles?

From the Article – Trans-Mississippi Frontier West:

  1. In your opinion, was Zitkala-Sa’s Mother right in letting her leave home? What else could she have done to get her daughter to stay at home?
  2. Women of diverse backgrounds experienced tragedy and deprivation and a loss of status and identity, how could these women have handled their situations differently?

also a 1 paragraph response to the following post;

Regarding the Trans-Mississippi Frontier West documents that I read over, the one that stuck out the most was A Citizen Protests The Rape of Indian Women in California, 1862. I think that it shows the lack of boundaries set on each and every human being that could go into that rancheria and think that it is morally okay to rape and force themselves onto people. I don’t think times have changed because you hear about government officials still doing the same thing today. I don’t think weather the women were Indian or white mattered. I think that they were trying to show their power and did it in a very hateful way. It also shows that because there was a lieutenant around and possibly participating in the rape of Indian women to try to scare or push the families out of the area was being tolerated and they should be brought to justice.

I have played games my whole life and honestly women being victimized in every game I have played has stuck out to me. I have ALWAYS wondered why Zelda wasn’t as strong as her leading competitors. I deal with the whole “damsel in distress” ideology all the time. I hike and I typically like to take a book and my yoga and head out, alone. Well immediately when I tell someone I am going, I get the ” be careful, aren’t you scared, what if something happens?”. I cannot tell you how manytimes I have had to explain myself. I always am prepared to go alone. Do you think they would ask my husband those questions? No, never. I think that because these are unconsciously embedded into our minds as we are growing up we think it’s okay to assume women as a gender are weak and helpless. I am teaching my little boys that a women can do everything a man can do and you should never doubt something someone can do based on their gender or race.

discussion response help please

I SIMPLY NEED A 200 WORD RESPONSE TO THIS DQ’S

1) Good post. What about groups like the San that don’t use technology? Are they global citizens? What knowledge has become obvious? Is everyone able to understand quantum physics because of technology? Terrorism has been around as long as man has tried to subjugate another man. The difference between the past and now is with technology we can do it anonymously. Would you agree?

——————————————————————————————————————————————

2) While interpreting the messages that the use of technology presents in relation to becoming a global citizen, it is important to develop our future leaders with information that they can relate to in order to hold their interest in international communications. An article published by Journal of American Culture in 2011 states “those popular culture topics help students understand connections between daily life and the broader socioeconomic environment” (Batchelor, 2011). Having multiple digital communications and technology options will give people different options in building overseas connections and relationships. Some might be concerning that connecting digitally may take away from the face to face interactions that some culture prefer, however as society progresses into a more digital and internet usage norm, the rest of the world will have to follow suit or be ostracized. There are many other concerns with becoming more digitally inclined while still acting as an active global citizen to include unequal social relations. With an increase in more politicians and global leaders communicating digitally, there is a chance for someone to disguise themselves as someone of power. According to an article published by Journal of Curriculum Studies in 2005 “Several scholars have demonstrated that gender and power issues are not easily hidden in online environments,” so while the challenge exists, it is something that does not occur often because of how difficult it is to disguise themselves into someone who is worth more than what they are (Zembylas & Vrasidas, 2005). One of the greatest benefits to be globally diverse in the age of technology is it allows people to utilize different ideas in order to piece together an innovative approach in a business or even in a school project. The impact that technology and global influences has had in my life includes being able to go to school digitally and earn an education while being able to respectfully debate with students from all over about the same subject.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

3) Globalization is the process by which people in a community integrate with other people from other communities through interchange of views, ideas, and other aspects of culture. Therefore global citizenship is a person who identifies themselves with a certain community and their actions and deeds contribute to building values and practices of this community that is its ways people do business. Technology is use of social networking, advancement in technology has contributed much to growth much to the growth of globalization this seen through invention of telegraphs where one can communicate with people who are in places where they can’t go. Telephones also made communication easier and fast and the use of social networking such as twitter, Facebook which improves interactions with people at far distances.

Technology has changed the way we pursue knowledge by limiting our thinking people no longer think they sick help from internet through Google that is its making as view knowledge as easy we no longer read written article for research since all the answers we want are found in the internet (Stieglitz, and Charlton, 2005).Internet has helped us to stay connected even with friends who are miles away through online communication thus helping us to keep in touch and make social plans with people we have met and those we have never met but we know them through social networking.

Technical and global community have various challenges which includes the following, the advancement of technology has left many firms struggling to adopt to the changes to meet the high expectations of global consumers thus the firms has to adjust and innovate. But global community has various benefits such communication has become easier people can interact with others who are in long distances and save transport cost and time. In my life technology and globalization has helped me to connect to people I never thought and has helped me in various ideas on how I can improve my business.

4) In the past two years that I have been at Ashford, I have learned that general education is constantly evolving and that you can never stop learning. What may seem like an educated standard right now, six months from now may be a matter of common knowledge. I have also gathered in the classes that I have completed that we are given the tools to be an effective leader, we just have to apply the different concepts accordingly and to “trust but verify” anything that we are unsure of. The most important concepts that I have learned from this course is that every bit of information that we are utilizing has to have a primary or secondary source, otherwise the information is just hearsay. Throughout my time at Ashford, I have learned that communication is the heart of all my schoolwork and self-improvement. I have become an effective communicator with my instructors and other students as well as my academic advisor. I plan on utilizing many of the financial and management concepts in my own office as well as with my personal life in order to broaden my community and professional relationships. Effective management skill will allow me to work more efficiently while still accomplishing the mission. Furthermore my improved communication skills will enhance my community involvement. Overall I can say that I have grown in the last two years.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

5) Most of what I have learned from this course and my time at Ashford basically confirmed what I already knew. The field that I am studying is the same one that I work in. All that really means is that the topics covered are not new information, but more of a refresher. My plans for putting my education to use are already in place as I mentioned previously that my degree is in my current field that I work in. The degree will assist in my professional development by giving me a more level playing field to compete for contracts against younger candidates that have degrees but no experience. I will now have both multiple decades of experience and a degree. On a personal level I will have finally reached a goal that has been decades in the making. This will also show my kids that if you put your mind to something it can come true.

Case Study 1: Alterations of Cardiovascular Function

Mr. W.G. is a 53-year-old white man who began to experience chest discomfort while playing tennis with a friend. At first, he attributed his discomfort to the heat and having had a large breakfast. Gradually, however, discomfort intensified to a crushing sensation in the sternal area and the pain seemed to spread upward into his neck and lower jaw. The nature of the pain did not seem to change with deep breathing. When Mr. G. complained of feeling nauseated and began rubbing his chest, his tennis partner was concerned that his friend was having a heart attack and called 911 on his cell phone. The patient was transported to the ED of the nearest hospital and arrived within 30 minutes of the onset of chest pain. In route to the hospital, the patient was placed on nasal cannula and an IV D5W was started. Mr. G. received aspirin (325 mg po) and 2 mg/IV morphine. He is allergic to meperidine (rash). His pain has eased slightly in the last 15 minutes but is still significant; was 9/10 in severity; now7/10. In the ED, chest pain was not relieved by 3 SL NTG tablets. He denies chills.

Case Study Questions

1. Cite four risk factors that predisposed this patient to acute myocardial infarction.
2. Cite four clinical signs that suggest that acute myocardial infarction has occurred in the left ventricle and not in the right ventricle.
3. Which single laboratory test provides the clearest evidence that the patient has suffered acute myocardial infarction?
4. What is the pathophysiologic mechanism for elevated temperature that occurred several days after the onset of acute myocardial infarction?

Case Study 2: Alterations of the Pulmonary Function

D.R. is a 27-year-old man, who presents to the nurse practitioner at the Family Care Clinic complaining of increasing SOB, wheezing, fatigue, cough, stuffy nose, watery eyes, and postnasal drainage—all of which began four days ago. Three days ago, he began monitoring his peak flow rates several times a day. His peak flow rates have ranged from 200 to 240 L/minute (baseline, 340 L/minute) and often have been at the lower limit of that range in the morning. Three days ago, he also began to self-treat with frequent albuterol nebulizer therapy. He reports that usually his albuterol inhaler provides him with relief from his asthma symptoms, but this is no longer sufficient treatment for this asthmatic episode.

Case Study Questions

1. Based on the available clinical evidence, is this patient’s asthmatic attack considered mild, moderate, or bordering on respiratory failure?
2. What is the most likely trigger of this patient’s asthma attack?
3. Identify three major factors that have likely contributed to the development of asthma in this patient.

Submission Instructions:

  • You must complete both case studies
  • Your initial post should be at least 500 words per case study, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.

Your assignment will be graded according to the grading rubric.
