Weekly Discussions Rules

In this class, online discussions will count towards your weekly discussion grade in the course. The purpose of the discussion board is to frame and promote collaborative learning. Active and regular participation is not only important for me to see, but also important for you in learning the course content and in developing your thoughts and positions on various topics. You should make a minimum of 3 postings in total (per week): one new initial discussion post and at respond to at least two peers.

¨ Initial Posts are due each week on Wednesdayby 2359 EST.

• Response posts to peers are due each week on Saturdayby 2359 EST.

Expectations for Weekly Discussion Posts:

• You should begin at least one thread and provide at least two posts in response to other participants’ threads.
• Posting should be in paragraph form. The focus should be on the quality of the post and addressing all elements, rather than on quantity (word count). Whether you agree or disagree explain why with supporting evidence and concepts from the readings or a related experience. Include a reference, link, or citation in APA format when appropriate.
• Be organized in your thoughts and ideas.
• Incorporate correlations with the assigned readings or topics.
• Stay on topic.
• Provide evidence of critical, college-level thinking and thoughtfulness in your responses or interactions. Avoid summarizing.
• Contribute to the learning community by being creative in your approaches to topics, being relevant in the presented viewpoints, and attempting to motivate the discussion.
• Be aware of grammar and sentence mechanics.
• Use proper etiquette. Remember that being respectful is critical. Cardinal Rules for Discussion Boards:

• Please remember that the cultural of mutual respect that is part of this course extends into the virtual classroom environment.
• Participation in these discussion boards is required.

Participation alone is not enough; a thoughtful and meaningful approach in your posts is required. (Quality counts!)

Leaders set the tone of all aspects of an organization. How employees perform, how comfortable they feel, and how committed to the organization they are. At one of my former employers, my first manager used fear as a tactic. I worked really hard but sometimes there was so much pressure. I was worried when I made mistakes. I felt like I could never go to them with concerns or even to ask for days off. My manger after them was the complete opposite. They were more laid back and trusted us to get the job done. I definitely felt comfortable approaching them about anything, even personal issues. The downside was I picked up bad habits. My manager was always on their phone, so I thought it was acceptable to do the same. I would arrive late or ask to leave early because he would leave early. I’ve experienced managers on both sides of the leadership spectrums. We take on the behaviors and characteristics of leaders in our organization. Leaders are in their position because they have the qualifications to affect people and make a positive impact.

Most of the articles I found about ethics mention that organizational demands are many times unethical so they can gain an advantage. Even ethical leaders will make these unethical decisions for the better of the organization and to protect themselves. Employees also receive pressure from their leaders. Over 53% of employees felt some sort of retaliation from disobeying their managers. Employees have rights and can say no, file a complaint to HR, find a new job, etc. They’re always at least two sides to every story. The term ethics is different from every person you, so only we as employees know what crosses the line to unethical.

   • Guest McCarty had locked the sliding glass door before she left her room for
     dinner and meeting. Intruder had pried open lock to gain entrance, assaulted
     her, and fled.
   • Shortly after guest McCarty had returned to her room from dinner, she opened
     her door when she heard a knock, without looking through the peephole. She
     thought that it was her supervisor whom she promised to give a revised version
     of the speech, which she was to make the next day, for his review. Instead, it
     was a male colleague, whose advances she had rejected at dinner. The colleague
     pushed through the open door, assaulted her and fled.
4. Format your assignment according to these formatting requirements:
   • Typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment
are:

• Identify the elements of negligence, that is, duty, breach, causation,

  and the legal system.
• Write clearly and concisely about issues in law and the legal system using
  proper writing mechanics.

Please use the info in the milestones along with the teacher feedback in the beginning of each milestone to complete the final project. For the final, I need to restructure the way I did milestone 3, please use the template I’ve also attached that will help. I am an older adult (41) woman, mother, returning to school to finish my degree. My goal for completing this degree is for personal development, I never finished college when I was younger and feel like its a personal goal to complete my BA degree. I picked history as my concentration because I am passionate about learning history. I do not plan to work after my degree, so that needs to be changed in the goal section, where I talk about working as a teaching assistant. Please communicate and ask me questions as you go through the assignment since it is a point of view type paper. Please use reference and cite as much as possible. If you have access to SNHU online catalog, you can use that to site the BA.GS degree requirements. Otherwise, you can site sources that talk about the benefit of learning history as well as comlpeting a degree as an older adult for personal development.
