WK 7 Assignment: The Role of Leadership in Shaping Organizational Culture

Recent researchers stated that “[c]ompanies with an established organizational culture that includes strong capabilities for change, a commitment to innovation and a high level of trust have a significant advantage” (Eccles, Perkins, & Serafeim, 2012, p. 44) when attempting to adopt a strategy of broad-based corporate sustainability. In fact, according to the National Business Ethics Survey (ECI, 2013) results, building strong corporate ethics cultures are paramount and leaders must continue this work to ensure progress.

Organizational leaders should have a strong incentive to identify and address any disparities that exist between their organization’s current culture and a productive, healthy one. They must understand the impact they can have as leaders in facilitating an organizational culture, determining the necessary steps to build that culture, and taking the necessary action to create a healthy organizational culture. Leaders must also be able to utilize principles of positive social change to enhance both their leadership styles and overall organizational culture.

For this Assignment, you will continue to familiarize yourself with Dr. Craig Marsh’s challenges and those things he must consider as he builds a new corporate culture. Imagine again that you have similar challenges, but before building a new corporate culture, you must become familiar with relevant research to make the appropriate decisions.

To prepare for this Assignment, review the “Leading a Virtual Organization” videos and Case Study Guide in this week’s Learning Resources, and consider the insights gained by Dr. Marsh in his journey as an organizational leader.

By Day 7

Submit a 7- to 10-page comprehensive scholarly analysis of the role leadership plays in establishing an organizational culture that includes a focus on positive social change. In your analysis, do the following:

  • Analyze Dr. Marsh’s challenges and their influence on an organization’s culture.
  • Summarize the leadership style you would adopt to influence the organization’s culture and why.
  • Explain the organizational change or cultural change model or steps you would take to change the culture.
  • As a global change agent, explain how you would infuse positive social change into your leadership style and organizational culture.
  • Describe the incremental steps you would take given your selected model to ensure success.
  • Explain how these steps will influence each of the challenges you face and the mitigation plan to eliminate the challenges.
  • Delineate the key concepts you would include in your vision statement.

Note: Be sure to use the APA Course Paper Template (6th ed.) to complete this Assignment. Also, refer to the Week 7 Assignment Rubric for specific grading elements and criteria. Your Instructor will use this rubric to assess your work. Please Note: For each page of your paper, you must include a minimum of two APA-formatted scholarly citations.

Abstract from ‘Smart or Crazy? What Steve Jobs Did with the First iPod Prototype’ by Henry Jay, 2 March, 2016.

“Steve Jobs announced the first iPod as a Mac-compactible product with 5GB hard drive that put 1,000 songs in your pocket. But before the event, something happened behind closed doors between Steve Jobs and Apple’s Engineers who produced the iPod.

When engineers working on the very first iPod completed the prototype, they presented their work to Steve Jobs for his approval. Jobs played with the device, scrutinized it, weighed it in his hands, and promptly rejected it. It was too big.

The engineers explained that they had to reinvent inventing to create the iPod and that it was simply impossible to make it any smaller. Jobs was quiet for a moment. Finally, he stood, walked over to an aquarium, and dropped the iPod in the tank. After it touched bottom, bubbles floated to the top.

“Those are air bubbles,” he snapped. “That means there’s space in there. Make it smaller.”

And that was how the tiny size of the first versions of iPod came into existence. All thanks to the Genius Steve Jobs.”

PSY 6510 create an annotated outline

Instructions

Before
beginning to write your literature review, it is essential to develop
an outline. The outline will show the organization of your ideas and the
order in which you plan to present them. Note the references you
currently have for each topic and the topics that need further research
before you write your final paper.

Create an outline of the ideas that you have gathered so far. This
outline will serve as the structure for your paper. Therefore, it must
be well organized and logical. With the assistance of your instructor,
you will revise the outline as necessary for better structure or to
include necessary but missing points in the argument or supportive
research.

Included in this week’s Books & Resources is an example of an
outline of literature related to programs on bullying in schools. Your
literature review may be organized differently, as it will relate to the
particular problem you are studying and its important points and
aspects. You will also need to note at least three references for each
subtopic you list. Submit your outline, along with a reference list that
reflects the research you noted in your outline. Your faculty member
will guide you concerning any improvements you need to make in the
structure or content of your outline.

Length: 1-2 pages

Attaching reference page of 40 articles to be used for the outline

Topic is: How effective is sex offender treatment

Padlet should be 2-3 pages of writing (about)

For this assignment, you are to engage with a single scene from The Tempest or The Gladiator and retell the central dramatic conflict of the scene through memes, gifs, videos, sounds, tweets and images found on the Internet. The idea is to turn a website into a type of theatrical performance, using the rhetoric of social media to restage and interpret a scene from a play. You then need to connect these images through some interpretation and commentary of your own, making sure you show how they tell the story of your chosen scene. Do not just include quotes from the scene, offer up your own retelling and interpretation as a commentary on the media you choose to include. This additional writing is a significant part of this assignment, not an afterthought.

You are to do this using a web app called Padlet, which you can access and sign up for (for free) using the following link:

https://padlet.com/

All you need is the free account version. The best option for this assignment is to create a Padlet using the “stream” option.

The goal of this assignment is to work on our skills of interpretation. In order to do this well, you need to spend time thinking about the characters, their motivations, and their reactions to each other and events. By recreating the drama of a scene in this other medium, you will be INTERPRETING the scene, so make sure you have an interesting interpretation. This does not mean you have to be exact (in fact feel free to be humorous and irreverent!) but it does mean you have to think through the scene and come up with your own take on it.

Remember, all you are submitted in Blackboard is a LINK to your Padlet.

    • I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much. ~Mother Teresa

For this assignment, you are asked to create a strategy for managing interdepartmental conflict. In a minimum of five pages, create a strategy from start to finish. While you have free reign over how to approach this assignment, you will need to be specific in each area of implementation. Discuss the strategy, in detail. Explain why you believe this strategy would be effective, and explain the proper approaches towards implementation.

peace action paper

A key component of this class is putting into practice the theories learned from the readings and in class. Thus, in this project, you will work to obtain peace in a peaceful manner. That is, you find an injustice and then attempt to create justice nonviolently. Don’t just get educated about a topic or be an observer; take nonviolent action. The Canvas course lists Peace Action topics students in the past have taken. You may come up with your own also, although the instructors will need to approve all the topics in advance.

After performing your peace action, please write a short paper (4-6 pages, formally written, typed, double-spaced) discussing the activity, your thoughts and feelings about it, and what you learned about peacemaking. Please tell the instructors by the end of Week 3 which peace action you choose. Turn the final paper in by the end of Week 8.

Possible Material to Include in Paper

  1. Summarize the activity – What took place? When was it? Where did it occur? Who organized the event? What were the objectives?
  2. What part did you play? In what ways did you participate?
  3. Evaluate the activity. Was it effective? Was it worthwhile? Was it well planned?
  4. What did you learn about peacemaking as a result of the activity? What conclusions can you draw about the methods used?
  5. What are the implications? How might you change your behaviors, or seek to change those of others? What additional peacemaking activities would you want to participate in? What additional things would you like to learn about?

My peace action topic is “ I think my peace action topic is promoting smiles because I believe smiling in someone’s face can make his day! I’m thinking about making flyers and posters to promote smiling and start promoting it around campus” But i didnt really have the time to do all that so I just need you make it sound like i did it.
