the detail is in the below

When you studied negligence last week, you learned that a company is responsible for the negligent acts of employees.  The Imperial Sugar disaster appears to involve a variety of negligent acts by employees.  The company faced 45 separate lawsuits filed by injured employees or their families.

One case involved a 19 year old  college student (and football player) who had a full and active life prior to the accident.  On the day of the explosion, he was working  in the building as a janitor. He was burned over 85% of his body, spent six months in a medically induced coma, and had more than 70 surgeries in the two years following the disaster, creating $17 million in medical expenses.  The recovery process for burn victims is very long, difficult, and painful.  When this student left the hospital, his parents had to help him with daily activities like getting dressed.

Damages in a negligence case are meant to put a victim back into the position they were in before the accident.  Juries are required to determine what about money will accomplish that goal.  It must be a specific dollar amount that is awarded at the conclusion of the lawsuit so juries anticipate what the future holds for the victim in terms of medical care, employment, and other areas of life that are changed as a result of the injuries.  In addition to the damages awarded based on the needs of the victim, sometimes a jury will award punitive damages that are meant to punish the person responsible for the negligence and to discourage other people from being careless.

Imagine that you are a juror hearing this case.  Please post the specific dollar amount you would award in damages and then explain what lead you to choose that particular number.  After you have posted, compare your response with your classmates and comment on the differences in your approaches to resolving this case.

CJ500 SNHU Victim Involvement and Restorative Justice

5-1 Discussion: Victim Involvement and Restorative Justice

There has been a significant trend toward more victim involvement in the criminal justice system in recent years. Legislation has been passed to provide victims with certain rights, and there has been a movement to alter the U.S. Constitution with an amendment concerning victims’ rights. Victims have also participated in the process known as restorative justice, which focuses on the needs of both the offenders and the victims of a crime.

For this discussion, first read the following articles:

You may also find Forgiven helpful. In your initial post, discuss the following:

  • Why is victim involvement important?
    • Cite at least one example where it would be appropriate for a victim to be involved in a criminal trial and conviction process.
    • Cite at least one possible negative consequence of allowing victims too much involvement in the criminal justice process.
  • What are your own personal feelings regarding restorative justice theory? Do you believe the criminal justice system should foster a dialogue between offender and victim?
  • What do you feel is the rationale behind the restorative justice theory and how it can resolve issues for victims?

In responding to at least two of your classmates, evaluate the stance they took, the examples they provided, and the positive and negative consequences they discussed in their posts. Be sure to respond to their stance on restorative justice and reiterate your own stance. Provide citations from their posts as well as from the textbook reading, the additional resource, and your own research.

Simple Regression Analysis

Details:

The purpose of this assignment is to apply simple regression
concepts, interpret simple regression analysis models, and justify
business predictions based upon the analysis.

For this assignment, you will use the “Trucks” dataset. You will use
SPSS to analyze the dataset and address the questions presented.
Findings should be presented in a Word document along with the SPSS
outputs.

The business characteristics of n = 250 U.S. trucking and delivery
companies for calendar year 2011 were recorded. Among the
characteristics studied were the number of drivers and the number of
trucks (power units) each company employed.

Part 1:

Given that the data consists of counts and range of counts is large, a
natural log transformation is usually performed to improve the linear
model results. Apply a natural log transform to both variables and then
plot the Y = log(Trucks) vs. X = log(Drivers).

Is there a linear relationship? Justify your answer by providing the SPSS output as an illustration.

Part 2:

Build a simple linear model by regressing Y on X and testing whether
or not a relationship exists between the number of drivers and the
number of trucks. Address the following questions in your written
response:

  1. After fitting the model, plot the standardized residuals (on
vertical axis) vs. the standardize predictions (on horizontal axis). Is
there a pattern? How would you interpret the pattern or lack of pattern?
  2. After fitting the model, derive the normal probability plot and interpret what the plot means.
  3. What is the coefficient of determination, R2, of the model? How would you interpret the R2?
  4. What is the estimate of β1? How would you interpret the estimate of β1?
  5. Is the estimate of β1 significantly different than 0? Assume an α = 0.01.
  6. What is a 95% confidence interval for β1? How would you interpret the 95% confidence interval for β1?
  7. If a new trucking and delivery company with 4,900 drivers were to be
formed, how many trucks would you expect the company would employ based
    on the model?

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a grading rubric. Please review the rubric prior
to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations
for successful completion.

Why we fight: War comes to America

Papers should be between 500-700 words (two to three double-spaced pages), typed in twelve-point font, and edited for spelling and grammatical errors. They should paraphrase or directly quote the film whenever appropriate, though you do not need to include formal citations.

REMEMBER: THESE FILMS ARE PROPAGANDA; DO NOT TAKE THEM AT FACE VALUE OR ASSUME THAT THEY ARE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE!

Questions:

  • In this episode, the narrator lists some of the various ethnic and socio-economic groups that comprise the American citizenry. What is Capra’s aim here? Why was it important to promote an image of racial tolerance in particular?
  • How does Capra exaggerate the threat posed to the United States by the Axis powers? Is he correct in his assertion that America went to war out of self-defense?
  • What is the use of public opinion polls meant to indicate about American attitudes toward the war? How does this relate to the previous question?
  • How does the film treat the issue of conscription into the United States military? What kinds of cinematic techniques are employed to enhance this portrayal? Why would such a depiction be necessary in the first place?
  • To what extent is Capra’s narrative of the run-up to Pearl Harbor an accurate one? Were the allegations leveled in Japan’s December 7th memorandum total falsehoods, as Secretary of State Cordell Hull insisted? Why or why not?

Unit VII Projecet (PFES)

Unit VII Project

This is a two-part assignment where you are being asked to create an organizational chart. Use the information from the textbook, and relate each chart to your department or the department that protects your community if you are currently not in the fire service.

Part 1: Create an organizational chart depicting the rank structure within your department or your local department. Start from the fire chief down to the newest recruit, and include any and all divisions within the organization. Also, provide a one-page summary defining the role of national, state, and local support organizations in the organizational design and command structure of the local department. Part I should be two pages long (one page for the organizational chart, and one page for the summary).

Part 2: Create an organizational chart for one of the following functional areas of the incident management system (IMS): planning, logistics, or administration/finance. Use both the textbook and outside sources to break one of these functions into its basic subunits. In a minimum of one page for the chosen function and each subunit, provide an explanation of the duties assigned to that function within that area of responsibility. Part II should be two pages long (one page for the organizational chart and one page for the explanation).

Parts 1 and 2 should be combined and submitted as one document. The completed assignment should be a total of four pages. You must use your textbook and at least two academic sources to complete this assignment. Any information from those sources should be cited and reference according to APA style.

Strategic Human Resource Management Plan

Strategic Human Resource Management Plan

Scenario: American Plastics had fared
rather worse than its competitors during the economic downturn. With revenue,
quality, and productivity down, management set several goals to reverse the
company’s fortune. One area in need of improvement was human resources and
“Janet,” the newly appointed HR Director faced a daunting challenge:
to quickly re-invent the Human Resources function, reposition it a strategic
partner to the business, and improve employee perceptions of her department.
Her predecessor retired after leading a major reduction in force causing a
significant exodus of key talent, some unexpected. Janet was charged with
finding a way to retain top talent and develop a steady but highly-qualified
stream of candidates to fill regular as well as critical positions. The
CEO agreed with her that differentiating the human resources function was
essential for the company’s strategic plan to succeed.

In her first two weeks
on the job Janet discovered:

  • Job descriptions were inconsistent,
long but vague lists of high level “duties and responsibilities”
    and qualifications
  • Job titles didn’t reflect the
work people did, used instead as a framework for budgeting and
compensation as many were doing unique work requiring different knowledge
    and skills.
  • Aside from providing a
coordinating function, human resources had outsourced recruiting to third
parties who presented candidates based on their internet postings and
other sources. No matter the level or criticality of the open position,
human resources rarely conducted interviews or assessments before or after
handing over the third party resumes to the hiring organization and would
get involved again only when a candidate was selected.
  • HR’s participation in the
onboarding process of new employees was limited to having them attend a
half-day orientation session where, between a video and a slide
presentation about the company, they filled out benefits-related, payroll,
    ID and other paper forms.
  • Training and Development
(T&D) had largely been outsourced to several companies that provided
    generic on-line courses.
  • The recent departure of several
mission-critical employees disclosed no systematic means of capturing
expertise from employees; when they left, their knowledge left with them.
  • The Performance Employee
Evaluation Program didn’t align with anything, was viewed by managers and
individual contributors alike as a burdensome annual chore that interfered
    with people’s “real jobs.”

The management of talent
is one of a handful of strategic services human resources can offer. The
decline of traditional HR functions through automation, self-service, and
outsourcing demands a “culture change” within human resources: adopt
a business focus by an organization still structured largely around benefits
administration, time and attendance reporting, labor cost processing, and
similar transactional operations.

Assignment:

Write: a communications plan not to exceed 1,050 words
to support the strategy of American Plastics.

Justify: why they were important for your strategic HRM
planning process.

Recommend: how to address these considerations.

Focus: on resolution of the human resource management
challenges in order to support operational strategies.

Cite: all sources according to APA formatting
guidelines.

Structural Modeling and Behavior Modeling, assignment help

Assignment 2: Structural Modeling and Behavior Modeling

Refer to the functional model you verified and validated for ABS in the Week 4 assignment to complete this assignment.

Based on your performance, ABS management was so satisfied that it wants you to develop both the structural and behavior models. This way, ABS can fully understand both the interaction that would take place between the users and the system, and the system itself in greater detail.

Note: You may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a four page paper in which you:

  1. Create Class-Responsibility-Collaboration (CRC) cards and a class diagram based on the functional models through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
  2. Identify each use case in the functional model and create a sequence and communication diagram for each scenario of each use case identified through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
  3. Create a behavioral state machine for each of the complex classes in the class diagram.
  4. Perform a CRUDE analysis to show the interactivity of the objects in the system.
  5. Perform a verification and validation walk-through of each:
    1. Functional model
    2. Structural model
    3. Behavioral model
  6. Revise the requirements document created in Assignment 1 with additional information found in this assignment and document the assumptions.
  7. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA format

Unit IV Outline Homeland Security

I have attached the papers from unit II for this.

Unit IV Outline

  • Weight: 10% of course grade
  • Grading Rubric
  • Due: Tuesday, 10/30/2018 11:59 PM (CST)
Instructions

For this second phase of the essay project, you will create an outline to
demonstrate the structure of your final essay paper. You will ultimately
answer the 10 questions posed in the assignment, but can do so in any order
that makes sense to you. Include a section for a thesis statement at the
beginning with a section for a summary or concluding thoughts at the end.

Your outline must be at least 475 words in length. All sources used,
including the textbook, must be referenced. Paraphrased and/or quoted
materials must have accompanying citations in APA style.

Resources

The following resource(s) may help you with this assignment.

I need it by next sunday

  • Annotated BibliographyIn preparation for your final paper it will be important that you locate a number of journal articles which focus on the treatment of addictive behaviors. For this annotated bibliography you will need to locate at least 5 relevant journal articles from Keiser’s online library.

What is an annotated bibliography? It is an organized list of sources (referenced in APA format), such as books, journals, newspapers, magazines, reputable web pages, etc., each of which is followed by a summary or description of the source.Annotations may consist of all or part of the following list of items, depending on the purpose of the bibliography:

    • describe the content (focus) of the source
    • describe the usefulness of the source
    • evaluate the reliability of the source
    • discuss any conclusions the author(s) may have made
    • note key points from the article relevant to your final project
    • describe your reaction to the sourceWhat does an annotated bibliography look like? The following in an example source from an annotated bibliography:Waite, L. J., Goldschneider, F. K., & Witsberger, C. (1986). Nonfamily living and the erosion of traditional family orientations among young adults. American Sociological Review, 51 (4), 541-554.The authors, researchers at the Rand Corporation and Brown University, use data from the National Longitudinal Surveys of Young Women and Young Men to test their hypothesis that nonfamily living by young adults alters their attitudes, values, plans, and expectations, moving them away from their belief in traditional sex roles. They find their hypothesis strongly supported in young females, while the effects were fewer in studies of young males. Increasing the time away from parents before marrying increased individualism, self-sufficiency, and changes in attitudes about families. In contrast, an earlier study by Williams cited below shows no significant gender differences in sex role attitudes as a result of nonfamily living. You will write a description paragraph like the one above for each of your resources. Be sure that you do not plagiarize! Use your own words and/or properly quote any borrowed work.

please help with discussion

Health and medical technologies available to both health care providers and administrators continue to advance rapidly. Choose a recent medical technology and provide a description of it. Discuss some of the pros and cons of this technology and assess how it drives consumer demand, health system changes, and health care delivery. Consider how this technology could be used in your current or future career.

————————————————————————————————————————————

2nd part

We have spent the last five weeks reviewing the major developments in the evolution of health care delivery in the United States and analyzing the system in terms of cost, quality, access, and the provision of services.  After viewing the video, address the following in your post:

“meeting of the minds the future of healthcare dr steven nissen”

  • What do you consider to be the most important factor in fixing the numerous issues inherent in the U.S. health care system?
  • What role would selected major stakeholders play in its implementation?
  • What types of research studies could be conducted that would support your stance?
  • How might the proposed emphasis on preventative health care affect the cost of health care in the future?  What impact would a focus on preventative health care have on your chosen factor?
