Although some states and cities have passed laws to ban texting and using handheld phones while driving, there is no current law to ban all cell phone use while driving. However, according to the National Safety Council (2009), 28 percent of all crashes—1.6 million per year—are caused by cell phone use and texting by drivers. The mission of a new national nonprofit organization called FocusDriven, patterned after Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is to make phone use while driving as illegal and socially unacceptable as drunk driving. US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood supports FocusDriven and its efforts: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, LaHood said this movement will become “an army of people traveling the countryside” to push for bans on cell phone use and tough enforcement (Schmit, 2010).

Hi, I need help in my world civilization class here is the promot for the assigment and I will uploud the tow articles “The Clash of Civilizations” and “Huntington’s Clash Revisited.” in the attachment.

Assignment – Huntington – WHO 2001 – F18

This being our first assignment, it will be relatively straight forward and more descriptive than argumentative in nature. Having read “The Clash of Civilizations” what you will need to do for this essay is to summarize the article. First, you will need to locate and describe Huntington’s main thesis clearly. You will then need to locate and describe all of Huntington’s sub-arguments which are used to support his main argument. Now, in order to properly assess Huntington’s argument I have assigned a very short article (2 pages) by David Brooks titled “Huntington’s Clash Revisited.” Take the paragraph before your concluding paragraph to discuss Brooks’ most salient criticisms of Huntington’s argument (where he thinks Huntington erred.) You can add a few your own words of assessment in that paragraph or in the conclusion.

I am not too worried about formatting and do not require you to include a bibliography as we are dealing with only two sources, but I do want you to use footnotes for citation in Turabian style and include page numbers (first reference to article or reviews has to be a full citation.)

Essay length should be between four and five pages

Here are some guide lines to help keep you on track:

1. Locate the author’s main argument. Summarize it as best as you can. This you will place in the introduction.

2. You will then want to give your reader a sense of how the author defines a civilization and the number and type of “civilizations” he sees the world being divided into. I recommend you do this in the first paragraph on the body.

3. Locate his individual proofs (his sub arguments) in support of his thesis. Summarize the content of each of these arguments.

4. Identify some of the issues with Huntington’s argument utilizing the Brooks short article.

5. Move on to your conclusion which is basically a restatement of the argument combined with your own assessment.

Rather than grading you on your original thesis statement in the Introduction, you will be graded on how well you have summarized and described Huntington’s main argument/thesis. You will then be graded on how well you describe each successive sub-argument presented by Huntington to support his main argument. Points will be deducted for each missed or badly explained sub-argument. You must clearly explain each of those sub-arguments and explain and how they connect/support his main argument. As always, quality of writing (grammar: spelling, word choice, syntax…) will affect the grade. We will certainly consider whether quote the article and cite it (in Turabian/Chicago style) as necessary.

The fact remains that there are a number of people who still value receiving tangible gifts as an expression of appreciation. If we totally remove gift giving from the list of interacting with others, then we are at risk for not communicating appreciation or encouragement in ways that are meaningful to these team members. As a result, our words of affirmation, spending time with them, or helping them out on projects will not really meet the need they feel to be valued. With this being said, that person has to be motivated differently in the workplace. The best way to motivate a person whose Language of Appreciation is Appreciation is to give them gifts that they desire or like. For example, if the employee favorite team is the Yankees, the best way to motivate them is to tell them that they may receive tickets to the game. This will motivate them so much because they would love to go and see their favorite team, which will make them work harder to get those tickets. According to Chapman and White (2012), “Giving the right gift to a person who appreciates tangible rewards can send a powerful message of thanks, appreciation, and encouragement” (p. 84). The fact that that employee is obsessed with the Yankees, the tickets would be a perfect gift to motivate them. Just because a person loves tangible gifts does not mean that they only communicate by receiving things. This means that they are motivated and feels appreciated from his or her workplace by receiving things that they like as a reward.
