Reinforcement and Punishment

Reinforcement and Punishment

Social learning theory postulates that gender development is influenced by social environment, which includes the media. An individual’s gender-related behavior is either reinforced or punished during the development period based on the existing social beliefs and standards.

The following assignment will help you examine gender development from the perspective of both boys and girls based on today’s culture and with a look toward future trends.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research social learning theory and gender development during childhood.

Applying the tenets of the social learning theory, explain the role of reinforcement and punishment in gender-related behaviors for boys and girls. Address the following:

  • Identify 3–5 examples of gender-related behaviors that are developed through reinforcement or punishment. Be sure to provide a balanced view for boys and girls, and select examples which apply to the development of both boys and girls.
  • Explain, in detail, how these behaviors have been shaped by reinforcement and punishment.
  • Describe your own experiences with reinforcement and punishment of gender-related behaviors.
  • Comment on the following:
    • Explain the role of popular culture in the development of reinforcements and punishments.
    • Describe what reinforcements and punishments might look like in the future, given current societal trends.

Support your assertions using valid research. Be sure to integrate a reflection of your personal experiences and examples throughout your paper.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to the formatting of your paper and the citation of sources. Remember to include a cover page and reference page in APA format. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc.

Questions each group should address in its presentation:

• When did the CAM become popular in the United States and why at that particular point in time? (What is the social context? The medical history context?)

• How did practitioners use the CAM, and what therapies did they offer? How did the explanations and therapies change over time?

• Did/ or Why did the regular medical profession oppose this system of practice when it first appeared in the United States?

PART TWO

Lastly, we need a critical critique of the following websites:

https://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com/

https://news.google.com/search?q=naturopathy&tbm=n…

Critically analysing a website for your assignment tasks Critically analysing a website might involve any of the following questions:

What type of website is this (e.g., government, organisational, etc.)? Might this impact the ideas which are included? How?

Who contributed to its content? Is this clearly visible?

Who is likely to view this website (i.e. who is the intended audience)?

Is the website navigation user-friendly? Why or why not?

Does this website present its ideas/arguments effectively for the intended audience? Is it convincing? If yes, how? If not, why not?

How is the information presented on the website (layout and design)? Is this effective? Why?

Is there any evidence used to support the ideas presented on the website/webpage? What is it?

Is this website funded or sponsored by an external party? – How might such funding or sponsorship impact the use and presentation of evidence? – Does this create any bias?

NOTE: A website is often less text heavy than other types of sources such as academic journal articles or news articles. Therefore, your critical analysis might focus not just on language, but also on design, layout, and visuals

Observation

Your assignment is to go to a county, state, or national park and make observations relating to Environmental Science. The park musthave some sort of water feature (stream, river, lake, pond, wetland, bay) and preferably exposed rocks. Specifically, you will need to describe the following in a typed, one page essay format:

– Name of the park and date/time you attended

-Observations relating to the atmosphere: We haven’t covered weather, but it is part of our atmosphere. Was the sky clear or cloudy? Any precipitation? What was the temperature that day? What season is it? Is the weather typical for that time of year or atypical (e.g. a 90 degree day in December is atypical)? Feel free to add any additional information about the atmosphere (the smell of the air, noticeable exhaust fumes, etc).

-Observations relating to the environment: What is your initial thought of the park? Is it clean and beautiful or do you notice trash and pollution? Do you notice any people nearby? What sort of sounds do you hear? Is there any vegetation in the park and what type (plants, trees, etc)? Do you notice any wildlife (birds, mammals, insects)? Do you think this is a proper habitat for plants and animals native to Maryland?

– Observations relating to the soil, rocks or minerals in the area: Do you see any rocks or minerals? If so, what type of rocks are they (use your best guess)? What do the rocks/minerals tell you about this area? Tell me something interesting about the geologic history. For example, most of the piedmont region in Maryland is made of limestone which was once at the ocean floor 300 million years ago.

– Observations relating to water features: What type of water body do you see? What is the source of the water or where is it coming from (e.g. a small stream may be from a spring, a river may be from a stream, a lake may be from a dammed river, etc)? Where is the water going? Is the water part of a drainage basin or network? Does the water look healthy (clear, clean) or unhealthy (dirty, dark, litter)? If it appears unhealthy, suggest a source for the water pollution.

– Brief summary of your park experience. Did this class made you think differently (or the same) about your natural surroundings? Can you apply some of the knowledge from this course to your everyday environment?

Week 1 – Laboratory

Scientific Method

Welcome to the Week One lab. Prior to working on the lab exercise, watch the How to Formulate a Hypothesis (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. video.

By completing the Week One lab exercise, you will learn how to look at data using the scientific method. This includes scientific observation, variables, controls, errors, methods of collecting data, data analysis, calculations, scientific reasoning, and writing a lab report. In the exercise, you are asked to partner with another person, who is capable of doing physical exercise for one minute. A resting heart rate and post-exercise heart rate will be taken and recorded. Use the heart rate information to complete the Respiratory and Heart Rate Table. You will create a hypothesis to predict what the physiological response is to exercise and how this helps the body maintain homeostasis. Finally, answer lab questions that address the different elements of the scientific method.

You will complete your answers on the Lab Report form linked in the Week One lab exercise area on the eScienceLab portal. Please open the form, Please complete the lab form that I uploaded

Span of control and Practical Reflection, Week 4 Discussion CRJ 499

Span of control and Practical Reflection” Please respond to the following:

Supervision is an important part of managing a law enforcement agency. Chapter 8 of the course textbook covers several supervision models used to effectively manage police operations. Span of control is one of the models examined and it refers to identifying the appropriate number of employees that can be managed by any one supervisor (p.227). Give your opinion regarding what is the appropriate span of control and explain your rationale.

In most cases, careers in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement exist, in some form of another at the Federal, State, and Local/County/City level and often in the private-sector. This week, research your selected position on USAJobs.gov, USCourtts.gov(federal) or your state’s employment management system, local municipality’s employment management system, and Indeed.com (private-sector), and discuss the similarities and differences (example: salary, jurisdiction, scope of work, required skill and education, and promotion potential).
