About Your Signature Assignment

Signature/Benchmark Assignments are designed to align with specific program student learning outcome(s) in your program. Program Student Learning Outcomes are broad statements that describe what students should know and be able to do upon completion of their degree. Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to assess marketing concepts and situations from an entrepreneurial manager’s point of view. Concepts and relationships are discussed with a special focus on aligning one’s ethics and values with their business actions and understanding the unique differences in marketing strategy planning for domestic business versus business abroad.

Scenario: Imagine you are an entrepreneur launching a business planning to operate both domestically and abroad. You are currently developing your marketing plan and strategies.

Develop a 1,050-word analysis addressing the following:

• Describe your organization’s mission, vision, and values.
• Explain how these values will be aligned to your own personal brand identity, ethics, and values when doing business, planning strategies, and solving problems.
• Discuss at least two concepts from class that are elements of a marketing plan and are important tools to your entrepreneurial business’ success. Discuss how the concepts help align the organization’s values with your values. Explain the reasoning leading to these conclusions.
• Select two of the following departments and explain marketing’s role in coordinating their distinct functions:
  • Distribution
  • Customer Service
  • Advertising and Public Relations
  • Research and Design
  • Sales
  • Operations or Manufacturing
• Compare and contrast how culture is likely to impact domestic marketing strategies versus what the company may encounter when doing business abroad such as cultural norms, economics, politics, and legal systems.
• Explain the actions the company can take to ensure that it evolves with the target at home and the countries it does business in.
• Discuss any emerging marketing trends that may affect your business.

According to the textbook, prison reform is often effectuated by and through the legislature. Often, these changes are meant for improvement; however, they can have an unintended consequence. Imagine that you are a state legislator that heads a committee for the Department of Corrections. Your responsibilities include recommending improvements to the correctional system, both domestic and international, (e.g., Guantanamo Bay). Write a 3-to 5-page paper in which you:

1. Suggest two actions that the corrections system can take in order to ensure that their officers adhere to the principals of professional conduct as stated by the correctional officers’ organization at http://www.correctionalofficer.org/professional-co…. Provide a rationale for your response.
2. Take a position as to whether or not conditions of correctional facilities circumvent the “cruel and unusual punishment standard” of the Eighth Amendment. Provide a rationale for your response.
3. Support or refute the removal of capital punishment from the U.S. corrections system. Provide a rationale for your response.
4. Create an argument for or against intermediate sanctions as a deterrent of crime. Support your viewpoint with one example of intermediate sanctions from within the last three years that reflects your opinion.
5. Debate whether or not correctional officers are adequately equipped to deal with mentally ill inmates. Provide a rationale for your response.
6. Use at least two quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

• Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
• This course requires that citations and references follow the Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than others Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
• Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

• Determine the U.S. Constitutional amendments that apply to correctional management and operations.
• Recommend improvements to selected areas of corrections.
• Defend the purposes of corrections.
• Examine the reform of American criminal justice beginning with 15th century Europe.
• Use technology and information resources to research issues in correctional facility policies.
• Write clearly and concisely about correctional facility policies using proper writing mechanics

Writing the Case Analysis
Begin the paper with an overview of the situation as described in the reading. Provide sufficient detail such that someone who has not read the case could understand what is going on.
A thorough written analysis should include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
1) A clear statement of the problem(s).
2) A thorough analysis of the pertinent stakeholders and of the issues and the ways these combine to create the problem(s). Address the issues in the questions that follow the case if included.
3) One or more suggested solutions, with clear explanations of the strengths and weaknesses of each solution and with each solution supported.
4) An explanation of how the solution(s) can be implemented (by whom, etc.) and the problems that might be encountered with the implementation.
Avoid “might be” scenarios. Unless such material can be solidly and logically derived from the existing case material, it has no place in the written case analysis.
The quality of the written analysis will be judged not only on the solutions provided but also on how well the analyzer has supported his or her arguments with the use of case material, theory, and solid critical thinking. No statement should be included in a case analysis that is not thoroughly supported.

Create an outline for the “Marginalized Group Career Counseling Essay” in Topic 8.

Include at least four required scholarly references for the paper in your outline.
