The remote environment

In a 3- to 4-page memo to a fictional CEO, use the following scenario as your framework: You start a new job at a company that has been run in the same way for the past decade. You are asked to write a report to the CEO briefly analyzing the two most important recent changes in the remote environment of U.S. business in the following areas. You should provide two recent changes for each category:

1. Economic

2. Social

3. Political

4. Technological

5. Ecological

Various sources can be used to identify changes in the above-mentioned areas. Magazines such as BusinessWeek and Fortune, newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and various internet sites are good sources.

Include a title page and reference page, and follow APA Requirements. Use outside academic sources other than the textbook, course materials, or other information provided as part of the course materials.

Toxicity in Gaming

This class takes as its mission two specific goals:

1. For you to learn more about how rhetoric relates to gaming

2. To explore toxic game communities and think through what that toxicity means for the games industry, gamers, game studies, Esports, etc.

Deep Dive Analysis of a Game and its player community

Requirements:

Game Selection: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

A. An analysis of the game (think about our rhetorical analysis project for a sense of how to do this) where you look at how the game is created, for what audience, what assumptions it makes, etc.

B. A similar analysis of the game’s community (players and fans)

C. A statement– factual, with evidence– of how the game addresses toxic behavior, whether the game or its fans are toxic, etc.

D. Detailed examples of why, based on your own theories, the game either is or is not overly toxic including what we can learn from that.

This option is about taking a risk but also about being creative and rhetorically smart; as you’d actually be implementing a plan, you’d have to catalog that, and you’d have to know that you were opening yourself up to the possibility of being deeply impacted by the toxic behavior you might be trying to combat.

Interventions might include:

A. Major input into a fan community (a forum, a Discord, a Reddit)

B. Producing a video or videos for distribution online

C. A social media campaign

D. An in-game intervention event of some sort

The only requirements for the intervention action itself are that your intervention: 1) is significant and well thought-out, 2) can be seen, and 3) illustrates that you’ve given the project careful rhetorical thought

Post Interview Thank You Letter

After the Interview

The actions you take following your interview can be as important as what you did to get the interview. After your interview with a potential employer, it is customary to send a follow-up, thank you letter. The letter should be prompt (within 2 business days of the interview) and its intent is to express appreciation and thanks for the interview.

The letter should do the following:

  • Show appreciation for the employer’s interest in you.
  • Reiterate your interest in the position and in the organization.
  • Remind the employer about your qualifications for the position. If you thought of something you forgot to mention in the interview, mention it in your follow up/ thank you letter
  • Demonstrate that you have good manners and know to write a thank-you letter.
  • Follow up with any information the employer may have asked you to provide after the interview.

There is some debate on the form the letter should take. Many experts believe a hard copy letter is non-negotiable. Others find a hand written note or email appropriate. I would suggest you research the organization and make a judgment call based on the position you are applying for.

Write a follow up letter to send to the person who interviewed you for the position you applied (Address the letter to your instructor.) Be sure it is grammatically correct and sends a message of professionalism

  4. What are some of the leadership qualities needed to prevent workers from being exposed to communicable diseases?

Length: 3-4 pages, excluding title page and references. 4 cited sources from required reading

SARA:Your supervisor told you that she recently received a call from an
advocate whom an employee consulted via the Employee Assistance Program
because the employee felt that she had been treated unfairly after
contracting an illness. She explained that a few months ago, one of your
agency’s home health aides, Sara, became ill. Sara had been coughing
for approximately six weeks, lost weight without trying, had no
appetite, was having difficulty sleeping, and had an intermittent fever.
She became concerned and went to see a healthcare professional who
diagnosed her with active tuberculosis (TB).

Sara missed a lot of time from work while completing treatment for
TB. Her physician cleared her to return to work after she was no longer
contagious. Upon returning to work, Sara felt isolated because her boss
and co-workers refused to spend time with her. She heard that someone
from the agency’s Human Resources Department told her co-workers her
diagnosis. The stressful circumstances at work became even worse when
another home health aide started to display the same symptoms Sara had.

Your supervisor has asked you to review the entire situation and how
it was handled by the agency. Each module includes information about
epidemiology, health statistics, public health, health communication and
advocacy, health literacy, healthcare delivery systems, the Affordable
Care Act, ethical considerations, human resources management, legal
aspects, cultural and global perspectives, and financial considerations
for the organization.

Tort Investigations

The investigatory phase of tort cases for both the pre-litigation and litigation stage is intended to reveal critical information related to the who, what, where, when, how, and why of the case. Paralegals play an important role in searching for answers that can make or break a case and ascertaining the facts. These are the topics you will explore in this unit.

Investigation strategies are typically tailored to the particular type of case and the facts involved. Strategies explored in this unit include witness interviews, discovery, gathering documents (newspaper articles, letters, accident reports, leases, insurance information, invoices, etc.), and the effective use of internet-based sources.

Finally, you will look at the effective use of public and private sector resources.

After completing this unit, you should be able to:

  • Identify investigation strategies for tort cases.
