Answer these two questions. Each questions should be more than 350 words.

Q3: Poll Analysis [40 points]

Investigate the validity of a poll for yourself, using what Wheelan has taught us about these
instruments’ potential biases. Start by finding a recently published poll online. (If you don’t
frequent news websites or have a particular issue in mind, an easy way to find a recent poll is to
go to a website like gallup.com, or you can Google something like “new york times poll,”
“washington post poll,” “cnn poll,” etc.) State what poll you’re investigating, who carried it out
and when, and where it can be found online (with a specific URL). Next, find and read the
description of the poll’s methodology, and summarize the sampling methods used to collect the
data. Then skim the poll’s questions and evaluate how well some of the more interesting
questions avoid bias through their wording. Give three examples, either of bad choices of
wording, or of good choices where different wording might have produced biased answers.
Finally, evaluate the overall validity of the poll. Does the sampling method seem like it provides a
sample representative of the respective population? Are the questions asked in such a way as to
promote honest and accurate answers?

Q4: Statistics, the Breakfast of Champions [40 points]

Imagine that you’ve just collected a bunch of data on college students, particularly their eating
habits and their performance in school. Because of all that you’ve learned from Wheelan, your
sampling and measurement methods are flawless, so now you’re ready to do some hypothesis
testing. You’re convinced that college students who eat Wheaties breakfast cereal (the “breakfast
of champions”) get better grades than those who do not eat Wheaties. Beyond that, you believe
that the more Wheaties a given student eats, the better his or her grades will be. Describe and
explain the process of carrying out your test of this hypothesis, step by step, beginning with a null
hypothesis and finally stating your findings. (Make up the needed unknown statistics if it makes it
easier to describe and explain the process.)

Globe Life Insurance Company, law case study help

Please discuss the following case study: Globe Life Insurance Company has undertaken a new sales program that targets neighborhoods in Los Angeles where drive-by shootings were a nightly occurrence. Two such shootings occurred in which children were killed as they sat in their living rooms. Globe salespeople were instructed to “hit” the houses surrounding those where children were victims. They were also told to contact the parents of those children to sell policies for their other children. TomRaskin, an experienced Globe salesman, read of a drive-by shooting at Nancy Leonard’s home, in which Leonard’s 5-year-old son was killed. The Los Angeles Times reported that Leonard was a single parent with four other children. Raskin traveled to Leonard’s home and described the benefits of a Globe policy for her other children. He offered her the $10,000 term life policy for each of the children for a total cost of $21 per month. Leonard was in the process of making funeral arrangements for her son, andRaskin noted, “See how much it costs for a funeral.”

Leonard had been given several tranquilizers the night before by a physician at the hospital’s emergency room. The physician had also given her 15 more tranquilizers to help her through the following week. She had taken one additional tranquilizer an hour before Raskin arrived, using a Coors Lite beer to take the pill.Leonard signed the contract for the policy. After her son’s funeral, she received the first month’s bill for it and exclaimed, “I didn’t buy any life insurance! Where did this come from?”

Discuss whether Leonard had legal standing to sue Globe. Did she have to pay for the life insurance? Also, discuss the ethical issues involved in the Globe’s sales program. Discuss the legal issues involved in Raskin’s decision to target Leonard the day after her son’s death.

It just has to be between 200-250 words.

Please references in apa format.

“Virtual child pornography” is the term given to video
depictions of child-child or child-adult sexual activity in which the “participants”
are not actual children but realistic computer-generated images of children. The
Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act banned this kind of pornography, but
in April 2002 the U.S. Supreme Court declared the ban unconstitutional. (The
Court upheld the section of the law that bans pornography depictions of actual
children, however.) Evaluate virtual child pornography from an ethical
standpoint.

Write 150 words or more for two questions keeping in mind the Principle of Charity, assignment help

Please respond to #1 and #2 with 150 words or more for each one.

In each discussion forum, the object is to increase
understanding of many different ethical views. Keep in mind the Principle of Charity. We have a responsibility to be open to new ideas about
ethics here, just as you each have a responsibility to be open to your patients’
views. This openness includes the new theories introduced each week and the
participants’ views expressed in the forum. Seek to understand a view or concept
before criticizing it. If your understanding is incomplete, ask respectful
questions targeted at the ideas, and not the person expressing them. Answer
questions honestly and with respect.  We also have a responsibility to express
our own views in such a way that invites discussion.  Avoid stereotypes and
labelling groups or people, discussing ideas respectfully without use of
irrelevant information about the arguer.  Avoidance of the ad hominem fallacy is
crucial to ethical discussion.  This does not mean that disagreement is off
limits! Disagreements are best made with support and respectful discourse and
questioning. Going back to your own Initial Post (IP) and addressing questions
is a great way to show respect for others who have asked questions in their
Response post (RP) to your IP.

1. All most every thing in our
day to day life involves some sort of contract like schools, work, bills,
having kids and more. Rather it’s verbal or written, the point of it is to
honor it. A contract is a legal agreement between two or more people.

 According to Igantieff,
an contract of citizenship are the duties of care that public officials owe to
the democratic society. After reading The Broken contract and watching the
video on Crumbling America, I say the government is in a breech of contract. There
is no way levees and bridges should break killing innocent people and the
people didn’t have a clue of whats going on. Either the government new what was
going on and didn’t notify the public or they failed to inspect the bridges and
levees and there for was ignorance to what was going to happen. Either way it
was a failure to keep the public safe. Part of the contract is to protect
citizens and their families  from forces beyond  their control
(Ignatieff, 2005). In so many ways they failed the citizens of the country.
During the Katrina disaster there where so many people left behind and left for
dead,  they truly broke the contract for protection. Majority of the
people during hurricane Katrina were black and no way should a black person or
poor person should have to remind fellow Americans that they are Americans
(Igantieff, 2005). That is truly unacceptable in this day in age.

I think it will be hard to get
the social contract back on track but it can be done. It first have to start
with trust after all these incidents like bridges collapsing and levees
breaking, the citizens don’t trust the government. Mostly because they been
kept in the dark. I think letting everyone know and working to fix these
defects that it wont happen again or if it does happen they have a plan in
place. This can help put the people at ease.

2. After reading Michael Ignatieff’s esaay,
“The Broken Contract”, I was instantly transported back to television
camera circling from above showing people stranded on roof tops after Hurricane
Katrina hit and nearly destroyed New Orleans.  Who was responsible for
getting help to these people.  The government should have been on the spot
immediately after the storm was over.  As the author suggests, the
citizens of this country expect that they will have “protection of their
possessions and of their families from forces beyond their control” (Ignatieff,
2005).  This expectation was not met, in fact was ignored when the
hurricane hit the city.  The head of FEMA, , Michael Brown, somehow failed
to realize his department was responsible for getting aid and comfort to the
people who were suffering.  This produced another question: what was this
man’s qualification for running a department that was responsible for getting
help to people who need it most.  He was formerly a master of ceremonies
for quarter house shows and was a political appointee of President Bush.
This man not only broke the contract with the people, he ignored it.  But
in all fairness, how could he do anything but.  He was not qualified to
run a department whose sole purpose is to make sure the citizens are safe from
devastating forces.  The situation was made all the more intolerable when
descriptions of how bad conditions were in the Super Dome were described, as
people sought out shelter and waited for help that was not coming.  The
contract was truly broken by all phases of the government and was enhanced even
more when it showed that there was blatant discrimination being conducted by
other authorities of the government, who ignored the pleas of black citizens
and even went so far as to physically restrain them from reaching areas of
safety where they could receive fresh food and water.  It was a very sad
day for the contract to be honored.  The only way to get help people
regain the trust of the government is by proof: the government must have people
who actually know what they are doing and then act on the demands made of them
from natural disaters that destroy people’s lives, and their hopes as well
