movie assignment for class 1

Iron Jawed Angels  movie you can find it online

This film is based on the true story of Alice Paul and the National Women’s Party’s activities during the push for women’s suffrage.  One of the striking things about this film is the depiction of violence culminating in the forced feeding of the imprisoned activists – all of which actually happened.  Before viewing this film, what had you learned about the Woman’s Suffrage movement?  How does this depiction compare with what you have been exposed to previously?  Lastly, some people argue that there is no way that one can consider the United States to be a democracy before women had the right to vote.  They say at best it was an oligarchy – governed by a minority of the population since a majority of the population was kept from voting (women comprised half of the population and add to that the vast majority of African American men who were prohibited from voting by an array of laws). Was the United States a democracy before Women’s suffrage?  Explain.

Research Report #1: Data Breach Incident Analysis & Report

Write a three to five page report using your research. At a minimum, your report must include the following:

1. An introduction or overview of the problem (cyber insurance company’s audit findings regarding the company’s lack of readiness to respond to data breaches). This introduction should be suitable for an executive audience and should explain what cyber insurance is and why the company needs it.

2. An analysis section in which you discuss the following:

a. Specific
types of data involved in the Wyndham Worldwide data breaches and the harm

b. Findings of
the court regarding actions Wyndham should have taken

c. Findings of
the courts regarding liability and penalties assessed against Wyndham

3. A review of best practices which includes 5 or more specific recommendations that should be implemented as part of Padgett-Beale’s updated data breach response policy and plans. Your review should identify and discuss at least one best practice for each of the following areas:people, processes, policies and technologies. (This means that one of the four areas will have two recommendations for a total of 5.)

4. A closing section (summary) in which you summarize the issues and your recommendations for policies, processes, and/or technologies that Padgett-Beale, Inc. should implement.

Attached are the rest of the instructions.

Write a paper about Down Syndrome

This is a 1,000 word paper (five pages plus or minus a half page not including references; see below for
formatting details). When writing the paper use the following formatting instructions: 1) use ONE inch margins on all
sides of the page; 2) use one and half (1.5 inches) as line spacing; 3) Use font size 10 or 12 and a
common font type such asTimes New Roman. I want you to write about Down Syndrome. You will need to do some extensive reading before writing. All of your references must have been published in 2010 to 2016. This applies to both
books and articles. You can use older sources if they prove helpful in your understanding of the topic
but all literature cited must be from 2010 to the present. You must have a minimum of two peer
reviewed articles out of a total of three (3) or four (4) sources. Personal communication is not
acceptable. The two peer reviewed articles are in the links: http://web.b.ebscohost.com.hmlproxy.lib.csufresno…. and http://web.b.ebscohost.com.hmlproxy.lib.csufresno…. if you cannot reach the links please let me know. You will need to include 2 more sources on your own. You may not use internet web pages. The only exceptions to this are when: 1) a professional
society publishes their journal online, 2) online articles available from Discover, American Scientist,
New Scientist, Scientific American, or Science News, etc, 3) the articles that the library has available
online through the search engines they make available, 4) the web site is from the National Institutes of
Health (NIH).
You should cite the NIH as follows:
National Institutes of Health, website, Hemochromatosis
(http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/hemochromatosis/index.htm).
Limit citations of NIH web pages to only one or two, and do not base all of your citation on NIH
web sites. You should have three sections: an introductory paragraph, the main body of your paper, and a
concluding paragraph. The introductory paragraph should explain what topic you are discussing and
outline your main ideas. The main body of the paper covers the topic as described in the above list.
Then try to come to some conclusion that you can defend. You need to present a full list of references
at the end of your paper. Please note that this is not meant to be a technical science paper. Most science topics require
too much background and training to allow you to adequately assess their significance. However, you
will need to use some technical (scientific) literature (such as peer-reviewed articles) so that it will be on
a level appropriate to this course.Throughout the body of your paper, whenever you refer to outside sources of information, you
must cite the sources from which you drew information. The simplest way to do this is to parenthetically
give the author’s last name and the year of publication, e.g., (Clarke 2001). When citing information
from another’s publication, be sure to report the relevant aspects of the work clearly and succinctly, IN
YOUR OWN WORDS to avoid plagiarism. DO NOT USE FOOTNOTES: Footnoting, although commonly done in books and other literary
writing, is only rarely done in the scientific literature. Cite references in the flow of the text as shown
above.
• DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTES From Published Material: In 99.99% of the cases, the
information you want from a research article is an objective result or interpretation. How the author
stated this information, i.e., their prose, is of little importance compared to the results or
interpretations themselves. Take the information and put it into your own words; avoid
plagiarism. Implicit in these instructions is the assumption that you are checking the content for
scientific correctness and accuracy.
• GLOBAL
check the sequence of ideas/background/content in each section for logical progression
(your topic sentences should do this). check for a strong relationship of ideas between the Introduction (what we knew before our
study) and the Discussion (how our study changes or supports our previous understanding).
• PARAGRAPH check that each paragraph has a coherent topic sentence, most often as the lead
sentence.
in each paragraph do the other sentences support the topic sentence?
check the transitions between paragraphs to ensure they are logical and smooth.
• LINE EDITING
check for consistent and correct use of terminology.
can you change a passive verb construction to an active verb?
eliminate superfluous lead phrases (Once that was done, ..).
remove all colloquial language.
check for redundancy (i.e., places where you repeat what you have said elsewhere). read each sentence closely for clarity and brevity. Can you say the same thing with
fewer words?
READ THE PAPER ALOUD to find those quirky sentences that you wrote while still half
asleep – if doesn’t sound correct when spoken aloud, it will read even more oddly.
• MISCELLANEOUS check that all of your sources are cited correctly in the text.
check the Literature Cited for completeness and correct format.
are the authors’ names spelled correctly?
run spell check on the document to find typographical errors and read carefully for
spelling and grammatical errors. In a sentence using active voice, the subject of the sentence performs the action expressed in
the verb. Active voice is used for most non-scientific writing. Using active voice for the majority of your
sentences makes your meaning clear for readers, and keeps the sentences from becoming too
complicated or wordy. APA format, minimum 1000 words, ONE inch margins on all sides of pages, no quotations: Paraphrase information with proper citations. no personal statements: Use more scientific/technical phrasing.

The Theory of Proxemics

Proxemics is a theory of non-verbal communication that
explains how people communicate without words through personal speaking
distance, speech volume, eye contact, touching, body position, and the context
in which the communication occurs. Different individuals, especially those from
different cultural backgrounds, have different comfort levels with these
non-verbal elements of communication and may have different non-verbal
communication standards.

For this discussion, identify three volunteers, if
possible, from different demographic backgrounds, including age, national
origin, and gender. Explain the theory of proxemics to them and ask if they
would allow you to assess the degree of comfort or discomfort when these
different non-verbal communication components are varied. As you talk to them,
vary the personal distance, speech volume, eye contact, touching (if
appropriate based on local cultural norms), body position, and setting in which
the communication occurs. Discuss how each variable positively or negatively
impacts the communication process. Then, summarize how these factors increase
or decrease your ability to actively listen to the other party and why they are
valuable.

If you cannot find three volunteers for this
assignment, watch the following video clip: Cultural Proxemics—Personal Space. Then, provide three key ideas you have gained
from watching the video clip. Include a summary of what you have observed and
learned from this exercise.
Suggest
and explain two other cross-cultural differences in non-verbal communication
from personal experience/readings that could impact the negotiation process
positively or negatively.

English 101 Researched Argument Essay

Prior to Conferences, I’d like to read/review your 3rd essay. Points you earn for this fall under the assignments category rather than major writing. While I will read the essay, major feedback will be provided in conference. Here is the Essay 3 Assignment as a reference:

Overview:

Our third essay will be a researched argument essay on the theme of “21st Century Gender: When it Matters and When it Doesn’t.”

Purpose:

The purpose of this essay assignment is to compose a researched argument based on your reading and research of two texts from our textbook, Intersections, in addition to two outside sources.

Task:

Some of the selections in this chapter take up the issue of whether gender roles are becoming blurred, revised, or replaced. While some people welcome these changes, others are upset by them. What’s your position? Make an argument on which concept–rigid or blurred gender roles–has more value for for society. To make this argument, you will need to consider those who disagree with you and use a counterargument to refute their claims.

Criteria:

Your assignment is to argue a position in 3-5 pages. Your paper will need to include the following: a clear and arguable position stated as a thesis, necessary background i.e. context, good reasons and convincing, well-researched evidence for your reasons, consideration of your audience’s values, an appropriate tone, and careful consideration/acknowledgement of opposing arguments/positions. You will need to follow MLA guidelines for your research, and cite your sources accordingly. Your paper will include a works cited page not included in the essay page count.

Finally, your paper should be word-processed, double-spaced in a font such as Times New Roman or Calibri.

You will need to reference at least two academic sources. Webpages provided by a company or organization (e.g., an
“About Us” page) will be accepted for this assignment as a valid, academic source.
