Virtual Field Trip – CWE

We are going on a virtual field trip as a Class!
1. Each class member will visit the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE) found in the University of Phoenix Library. Under the Writing Resources, select the “Tutorials & Guides” link and begin your exploration. Identify two (2) resources that you found useful.
2. Describe, in detail (300- to 750-words), what those resources are and how they will be beneficial to you in this week’s assignment as well as future assignments.
3. Post your findings in the Virtual Field Trip Link posted here. (Do not attach it as a word document but place your response in the body of the message).
4. Discuss your findings with your classmates. 50% of your grade will be based on your initial post (#2) and 50% will be based on your discussion with your fellow classmates. To earn a full 50% for participation, post a minimum of 2 discussion posts in addition to your initial findings post.

Accepting Cultural Differences

Earl Whitecloud is an American high-school student. He is constantly teased and bullied by his classmates because he occasionally wears clothing that represents his Native-American heritage. As a result, Earl spends most of his time at school alone, is absent far more than the average student, and performs poorly at school.

As Earl’s teacher, who acutely perceives the problem, you decide to devote a class period to talking about diversity and accepting cultural differences.

What three points will you emphasize the most and why?

Will you involve Earl in the discussion? Why or why not?

Chapter summery

Chapter summary should be its own self-contained explanation of that chapter. The summary paper should succinctly summarize the important points and events of that chapter. Each summary document should be 2 pages excluding the title page. The document should be double spaced with a font size no larger than 12, no smaller than 10.

I need 2 summaries, one for chapter 5 and one for chapter 6. Two separate summaries. Two files, 2 pages each.

The book is: Between Two Fires A Fire History of Contemporary America, Stephen J. Pyne. ISBN 978-0816532148

Also, answer the following questions on a separate file, (Summarize briefly what the FLAME act is and give your thoughts on whether you think it is the conclusion of 40 years worth fire policy making or whether it is really just another legislative attempt to control fire.) (The author lists some possible cause(s) for the increase in the number of mega fires that have been occurring since the the 1980s. What are some of these causes and do you agree or disagree? If you agree, then what can be done to reverse the situation? If you disagree, the explain what you think are the causes. )

Co teaching Interventions

Imagine you have a student with autism in your class. He is
struggling with working in a group, getting along with other students,
and interacting at age-appropriate levels within the group. You
regularly use group work for assignments, often daily. You find that
your student with autism has meltdowns during each and every group
work session. Sometimes he even has these meltdowns before you put
students in groups, as he anticipates the overstimulation before it
even occurs. Other students have expressed concerns and have asked to
not work with him and not be in his group. When meltdowns occur, they
affect the entire classroom for several minutes. The outbursts range
from mild to moderate, from tantrums to crying or shutting down.

In an essay of 500-750 words, explain:

  1. How you would intervene and de-escalate the student with
    autism.
  2. How you would intervene and debrief the other
students in the class after a meltdown.
  3. Proactive ways to
    prevent outbursts in the future.
  4. How you would collaborate
with a co-teacher to seek a solution for the situation.
  5. What support you and your co-teacher might need to engage and
    support all students.
  6. Ethical and legal concerns with
sharing information with the class and other professionals.

Support your findings with a minimum of two scholarly resources.

Prepare Annotated Bibliography

Return to the library to gather 5 more scholarly research articles. This will bring your total gathered articles to a minimum of 15. It will be important for you to have true research articles (all research elements as covered in Week 3) to use in this assignment. See the Quantitative and Qualitative outlines below. For this assignment, compile an annotated bibliography using the template provided. Your annotated bibliography will include five entries. You can choose any of the 15 research articles that you have gathered to date. Be sure to make use of your new note-taking skills when preparing the information in the annotated bibliography and follow APA form and style in preparing the bibliographical information. For each entry, include the following:

  • type and purpose
  • methodology
  • conclusion
  • evaluation

Length: 5-7 pages, not including the title and reference pages

References: Minimum of five annotated references.

Outlines for Completing the Annotations

The following are suggested outlines for completing the annotations. They include brief questions that can be used as a checklist for critical reading of the scholarly research articles. You should know the meanings of all the italicized terms used in the outline starting with the similarities and important difference(s) between quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research designs.

Annotations provide excellent practice with the language used to discuss research. The annotations should be written in a narrative format using clear and concise language. They should not be answers to the questions posed below (those are for locating information), nor should they be a series of quotations from the article, nor should they be composed of one or more bulleted lists of information.

For a quantitative study, address the following:

Type and Purpose

  • What specific type of study was it?
  • What was the purpose of the study?
  • What was/were the hypothesis/ hypotheses of the study?

Methodology

  • What was the research design of the study?
  • What were the variables (dependent and independent) used in the study?
  • What was/were the method(s) of data collection?
  • What was/were the method(s) of data analysis?

Findings and Conclusions

  • Were the findings based on the analysis of the data?
  • Were the conclusions based on the findings?

In Milestone Three, you will submit your discussion of the life cycle management (Section III) of your business product, service, or other idea from your business
plan in the Marketing and Strategy course.

Prompt: In this milestone, consider the sustainability of your idea in the marketplace from initial inventory to subsequent sustainment in the supply chain.
Specifically, examine the company’s own inventory as a starting point—that inventory came from a supplier—which is where your supply chain starts.
Additionally, your finished product will travel downstream along the supply chain by means of shippers, distribution centers and then finally, to a retailer. These
components should be outlined in this paper.

Identify and describe the technologies you intend to use along the company’s supply chain such as RFID tagging and bar coding, e-procurement, and 3PL. Identify
and justify your clicks or bricks decision, that is, your rationale for brick-and-mortar locations or internet services or a combination of both. The paper should
identify the key data needed to support the functions of inventory management and supply chain management.

You should describe the life cycle of the business idea. Focus your response on the future of the business idea, specifically on its growth and eventual decline.
Assess the profit generation and cost-saving opportunities associated with the business idea based on the life cycle you described. Your assessment should be
supported with rationale. Determine a phase-out plan for your business idea that ensures a sustainable solution that makes way for future innovation and profit
streams. Ensure that you justify the steps in your plan.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
III. Life Cycle: In this section, you will discuss the life cycle of your business product, service, or other idea from your business plan in the Marketing and
Strategy course. Specifically, you should:

Much of what we learn in this course form the building blocks for many consumer electronics. This discussion is an opportunity for you to explore the teardown of a device of your choice. Go to the following website and select a device: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown and answer the following questions:

– Provide a brief description about the function of the device (include a link to the device teardown).

– Select three components related to this course and discuss their function (Course is digital logic)

– What is the most surprising thing to you from the teardown?

Answer this two questions see on the description

Individual Assignment:

There are two case scenarios below. You are a healthcare consultant/administrator advising the client/employer in each scenario. Read both scenarios and then answer each of the questions as if you were advising your client/employer in writing. Make sure to explain your answers. Use the course reading to answer the questions. You may also add additional research.

This is an individual assignment. You may not discuss your answers with your classmates.

The report should be at least 2 full pages double spaced, 1 inch margins. DO NOT REPEAT THE SCENARIO IN YOUR ANSWER.

Scenario #1: Your client/employer ABC hospital enters into an agreement with Novarmints pharma company to participate in a drug study. To conduct the study at the hospital, ABC asks physician Dr. No to serve as the principal investigator to conduct the pharma study for ABC. Dr. No is not a hospital employee but is on staff at the hospital. As part of the contract negotiations his contract negotiations with the hospital, Dr. No asks the hospital to pass along to him 50% of the contract fees that Novarmints has promised to ABC for conducting the study. Would Dr. No’s proposed split be lawful under the Stark law? Explain your answer. If not, explain the potential consequences of a violation.

Scenario #2: Dr. No is invited by Novarmints to take part in a study involving a recently FDA-approved drug that it is in the process of marketing to the public. Dr. No would be required to prescribe the drug for his patients and thencomplete a brief questionnaire about each patient’s experience with the drug. The questionnaire for each patient is expected to take about 20 minutes to complete. Novarmintswill pay Dr. No $3,000 for each completed questionnaire. Dr. No sees this as “easy money” and a great way to increase practice revenues. Would this arrangement be lawful under the Anti-kickback statute? Explain your answer. If not, explain the potential consequences of a violation. Hint: Is this a real drug study?

Entrepreneurial Finance Final Paper

Throughout this seminar experience, you have explored foundational content, past and current research, and trends and innovations in the field of entrepreneurial finance. In addition to acquiring this body of knowledge, you have also considered possible areas for future research in the field.

To prepare for this Assignment, identify a research topic for this Final Paper. Choose from any of the following:

  • An idea from the general topics in Week 2, 4, or 6
  • The topic of your own Doctoral Study (only if it concerns Entrepreneurial Finance)
  • The topic of your own Presentation
  • Gaps in the literature identified by you or your colleagues during the Discussions in Weeks 2, 4, or 6
  • A topic from any of the readings from Weeks 2, 4, or 6
