Constructive Tension in Strategic Selling – The Challenger Model

The following podcast discusses the notion of “Constructive Tension” in the context of Strategic Selling using The Challenger Sale approach. It summarizes the book which you assigned to read “The Challenger Sales” by Matt Dixon and Brent Adamson. The notion of this concept is that sales people can engage with customers to create constructive tension and make customers more engaged and accountable during the selling process.

Read the book “The Challenger Sale”

You can listen to the summary podcast via the link: Matt Dixon on all things Challenger Sale , Teach – Tailor – Take control and constructive tension – YouTube

Exercise: Address the following questions in a 2-3 page (single spaced) essay:

    1. The general premise of The Challenger Sale Model is that “relationship selling is dead”. Do you agree or disagree. Why or why not?

    2. Do you agree with this notion that successful sellers create “constructive tension” during the sales process? Why or why not.

    3. Give an example where a seller creates “constructive tension” during the sales process. Use either a sales situation that you have been either the seller or customer or just make up a scenario. You may also use the scenario from last week (Selling 3M Cubitron II Extract Sander to Tuuli Energy).

    Edwin Octavian

We may or may not know it but we all use accounting techniques in our everyday lives. There are a number of ways that this course will help me in my future position in management. My career path is not to be an accounting, but if I hired one I would want to know how he/she is handling the financial aspects of my business. I think one of the most important part of owning and running a business to me is knowing how to make sound business decisions/investments that will help my business to suceed and become profitable. I’m hoping this course will teach me how to do that in the future. Other topics I’m hoping to learn about are risk management and budgeting. Once I learn these topics and more, I will be able to run a sucessful debt free company.

psy 645 week 3 fictional sociocultural case studies

prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read Chapters 8, 12, and 13 in DSM 5 Made Easy: The Clinician’s Guide to Diagnosis; Chapter 2 in Turning Points in Dynamic Psychotherapy: Initial Assessment, Boundaries, Money, Disruptions and Suicidal Crises; Chapter 5 in The Psychiatric Interview: Evaluation and Diagnosis; all required articles; and review the PSY645 c(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. document.

One of the most important aspects of developing competence in psychopathology is to be as honestly and completely aware as possible of your personal attitudes toward people who have mental health conditions. Through this awareness, we are better able to challenge our own biases and prejudicial views in order to be more open to the findings within scholarly research.

For your initial post in this discussion, choose one of the three case studies from the PSY645 Fictional Sociocultural Case Studies (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. document, and write a detailed description of your uncensored personal observation of the patient depicted. Describe at least one theoretical orientation you would use to conceptualize your view of the and how it may have developed. Identify the issues you might focus on in treatment with this patient. Be sure to identify within your post which of the three case studies you have chosen.

    PSY645 Fictional Sociocultural Case Studies

    Case #1

Frank is a 45-year-old male who identifies as gay. He stated his reason for seeking out psychotherapy “is because my boyfriend doesn’t want to have sex with me.” When asked about the frequency of his sexual activity with his boyfriend, he reported that they have sex at least once a week. While this tends to be the average amount of sex that couples generally have, he repeated, “You don’t understand. I just want him to have sex with me!” When asked to share his boyfriend’s name, Frank responded, “Orlando Bloom… you know, the actor in those movies.” Frank appeared well groomed with logical thought and poor insight into his problems. He denied symptoms of depression and anxiety.

    Case #2

Chrissy is a 28-year-old female of Argentinean descent. Chrissy was born in the United States two years after her parents emigrated. She stated her reason for seeking out psychotherapy “is because my family won’t let me be the person I want to be.” She endorses symptoms of depression and chronic passive suicidal ideation with a plan but no intent. One of her goals in life is to be an independent entrepreneur, as she wants to start a designer clothing line for pregnant women. However, this goes against her family’s expectation that she become a stay at home mom and raise children of her own. She appeared well groomed with logical thought and moderate insight into her problems.

    Case #3

Harvey and Tina are a middle-aged mixed-race couple who present for counseling after 20 years of marriage. They state that there are no known problems in their marriage, but they would like to establish a safe space to discuss issues as they might develop. While gathering history, you learn that Tina was born as Anthony and went through sex reassignment surgery two years into her relationship with Harvey. Shortly after going through sex reassignment, Harvey and Tina married. Harvey and Tina appeared well groomed with superior insight and no plans to use insurance for counseling.

    Editorial Analysis

from what i am reading her, i guess you can find any editorial you think is suited , these are the instructions i received. For this lesson’s activity, you will be asked to:

    • Find an editorial to discuss. (See the lesson for more information on how to do this.) In order to do this, you will need to find an editorial. You can locate them through a Web search or in a newspaper to which you subscribe.
    • As you read, take notes that identify the following:
      • Assumptions
      • Tone
      • Purpose
      • Problematic ambiguity and vagueness
      • Facts
      • Opinions
      • Reasons and claims (noting where they don’t quite add up)
      • Your reaction to the quality of the information source and the sources cited (if any)
    • Select three paragraphs from the text to annotate. Then copy
the paragraphs and paste them on the assignment submission screen. Add
your comments in [brackets] to distinguish your ideas from the original
source. Your annotations should focus on the list of qualities mentioned
      above (assumptions, opinions, etc.).
    • After you annotate your paragraphs, write an additional two paragraphs of reflection.
      • Share your own reaction to the text and identify any biases
or personal experiences that might have impacted your reading of the
        text.
      • Focus on your conclusions as a reader. When all was said and
done, did you agree or disagree with the article? Why or why not? What
did you see as strong elements? How might this piece be improved?

For example, how will a retailer use the population data to target consumers? The age distribution provides invaluable information to the retailer in terms of target market planning. Be specific about what the data indicates.

Support your arguments with this week’s readings and other sources. Your paper should be submitted in the form of a Word document and meet the following requirements:

    • 3-4 double-spaced pages, not to include the title and references pages,

Reflections on Being a Group Member

    • Having been a member in 10 hours of a group process, please reflect on your experience (4-5 pages) addressing the following areas, and any others you wish to include:

Self-Awareness: What was it like for you to be in a group; how did you interact with group members; how did group members respond to you; what did you become aware of during and/or as a result of the experience; how have you changed as a person and as a counselor-in-training as a result of your participation; what are your personal goals in this context.

Group Dynamics: how did the group function or not; what were the functions that facilitated the function or malfunction of the group; what stages of group process were you aware of.

    Group Communication; what verbal/non-verbal communication patterns did you notice in the group; what was the tone of the group each session; how did the tone change, and why; did all members participate;

Group Leadership; what leadership skills were used; what other skills could have been

    used.

    Advocates in Organizations

Prior to beginning work on this discussion read Hill (2013) “Partnering with a Purpose: Psychologists as Advocates in Organizations,” Cohen, Lee, & McIlwraith (2012) “The Psychology of Advocacy and the Advocacy of Psychology,” Heinowitz, et al. (2012) “Identifying Perceived Personal Barriers to Public Policy Advocacy within Psychology,” Lewis, Ratts, Paladino, & Toporek (2011) “Social Justice Counseling and Advocacy: Developing New Leadership Roles and Competencies,” and Fox (2008) “Advocacy: The Key to the Survival and Growth of Professional Psychology” articles.

For this discussion, you will compare the various professional activities common to clinical and counseling psychologists and assume the role of an advocate for a client in one of the case studies from Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology (Gorenstein & Comer, 2015). Select a case study that has not been covered in this course or in the PSY645 course, and identify systemic barriers, sociopolitical factors, and multicultural issues impacting the client at the micro, meso, exo, and/or macro levels. Develop an action plan that outlines how you might advocate for the client at each appropriate level of the ecological model. Identify two potential partnerships that you would establish in order to support your client and those like him or her outside of the therapeutic environment.
