Topics

  • How to minimize DFA’s and why one would.
  • Turning a DFA into a Grammar
  • Decision Problems.
  • Some applications of Regular expressions
  • Everything is a string / number.
  • Problems to work on

    1. Why do we care about minimizing DFA’s ?

    2. Minimize the following DFA. What Language does it generate?

    3. Minimize the following DFA. What Language does it generate?

    4. Minimize the following DFA. What Language does it generate?

    5. Give a regular grammar that generates the same language as the DFA in problem 2.

    6. Give a regular grammars that generates the same language as the following regular expressions:

    a. 010*

    b. a(ab + bc)*

    7. Is the following a valid argument? Why or why not? The language L = {0m1m 2n | m, n >= 0 } is not regular, since we already know that M = { 0m 1m | m >= 0} is not regular by the pumping lemma, and since L contains M it cannot therefore be regular.

    8. Prove that the language { x2n | n >= 0 } is not regular.

    9. Give a decision algorithm which takes as input a regular language L and decides whether L contains the string 1000101.

    10. Give a decision algorithm which takes as input a regular language L and decides whether L equals the language {1000101}

    11. Give a decision algorithm which takes as input a regular language L and decides whether L contains the language given by the regular expression 10*10*1

    12. Miscellaneous problem: Eliminate the espilon transitons of this NFA, without converting it to a DFA (ie, figure out an easier way)

    Code of Conduct

    Codes of Conduct

Review the material on Codes of Conduct in Chapter Eight. Then read the debate issue on page 223. Clearly state whether you think:

    1) Poorly written (or absent) codes of conduct help explain the widespread misconduct that has been prevalent in the financial industry, or
    2) Codes of conduct are only a small part of the ethical culture of an organization and do little to explain the misconduct in the financial industry.

    Explain your answer.

This question needs to be answered with at least 250 words with references and intext citations. I have included the book, and you can include at least 1 outside sources. Please make sure you include the book Ferrell, O. C., Fraedrich, J., & Ferrell, L. (2013). Business ethics: Ethical decision making and cases [9th edition]. Mason, OH: Cengage Learning. I am here if you have questions. Thank you in advance.

Make a presentation. Details are below.

FINAL PROJECT: Power Point Slide Show

Instructions: Using Power Point, create a slide show of at least 15 but no more than 20 slides in which you present one of the following:

    • A set of instructions directed to a specific audience relating a step-by-step process involving at least 10 but no more than 15 distinct steps.
    • A set of procedures directed to a specific audience that involves at least 10 but no more than 15 points.

three important ideas to keep in mind:

    1. This is a business presentation, so the topic or subject you choose should be business appropriate. Examples of inappropriate topics might include “how to change a tire,” “how to kick a soccer ball,” or “how to bake marijuana brownies.” Imagine yourself, dressed in business dress, standing in front of a room full of men and women at a business conference. They are expecting a professional, informative, and engaging presentation by you. You represent not only yourself, but your corporation, hospital, college, or business.
    2. A good presentation is an informed presentation. That means your content should be thoroughly researched and documented. Typically, a minimum of three sources constitutes a barely suitable number of sources.

    Learning and Cognition Handbook

The primary goal of the Learning and Cognition Handbook assignment is to integrate concepts from the discipline of learning and cognitive psychology into a usable and professional guide that is designed for a specific audience based on your career goals. The purpose of this handbook is to share helpful strategies and apply what you have learned from the course to six major topics in the field. You will incorporate your findings from required sources and the relevant sources you researched in the Week 2 Discipline-Based Literature Review, as well as those from the Week 3 Assignment: Choosing Your Focus.

To complete this assignment, you may utilize the Learning and Cognition Handbook template or create your own using the template as a guide. Your handbook should include the sections listed below, incorporating a minimum of one visual (e.g., table, figure, or image (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) with a maximum of five visuals per section. Each image must be retrieved and cited based on current copyright laws. You may wish to use the Where to Get Free Images guide for assistance with accessing freely available public domain and/or Creative Commons licensed images.

    Handbook Sections:

    Table of Contents
List all sections and subsections included in the handbook with the applicable page numbers.

    Preface (100 to 150 words)
Provide an overview of the handbook and its potential use by your chosen audience.

Introduction to the Major Topics (200 to 300 words)
Provide an introductory summary of the six topics listed below and discuss any careers in psychology specifically related to at least one of them:

    • Traditional learning theories: Operant and classical conditioning
    • Traditional learning theories: Behaviorism and social learning theory
    • Attention and memory
    • Decision-Making
    • Language acquisition
    • Organizational and lifelong learning

Describe how one or more of these areas may be connected to your future career goals.

Major Topics (1 to 2 pages for each major topic)
Communicate the extent to which the six major topics of learning and cognition affect related sub-topics by synthesizing the course learning principles and/or theories. Consider how these sub-topics may be related to your future career goals. For instance, if you intend to become an applied behavior analyst, behaviorism and related technique for learning may be directly connected to your future role. For each major topic, apply basic research methods and skeptical inquiry to explain the theoretical perspectives and empirical research that substantiate the relationship between the topic and at least two related sub-topics. In your review, consider how these topic and sub-topics are directly connected to evaluations and interventions in psychology practice in various fields. Focus on the areas most related to your future area of practice, paying particular attention to how theories are examined in research studies. The following are some sub-topics to consider:

    • Comprehension
    • Operant and classical conditioning
    • Behaviorism
    • Social learning theory
    • Problem solving
    • Memory development/retention
    • Lifelong learning
    • Individual and group learning
    • Organizational learning
    • Mentorship
    • Apprenticeship models of learning
    • Effects of demographic differences (e.g., gender, socioeconomics, religious affiliation, race) on learning

Although creative liberties are encouraged, all information incorporated should be supported and professionally presented through the consistent application of ethical principles and adherence to professional standards of learning and cognition psychology as applied to the chosen audience.

    Conclusion (200 to 300 words)
Summarize the importance of the topics within the learning and cognition domain and their applicability within the psychology profession for the chosen audience.

    Draft for Research Essay

    Draft, Review, and Reflect:

    1. Step 1: Complete a rough draft of your research paper. When it is complete, write three categories in which you feel your essay could be stronger, or choose areas in which your writing has shown weakness in the past. Also remember to submit this draft to TurnItIn.com! It will allow you and your instructor to see the “originality index” which will help you determine if you are using too many sources. Depending on its length, your paper should fall below 25 to 30 percent similarity in terms of the use of outside sources.

    Research
Question: What are the primary ways of decreasing recidivism in women offenders
    who have substance abuse issues?

This must be turned into a clear concise thesis statement.

    Putting the Draft Together

Now that you have a sentence outline (sentence outline attached), you should easily be able to take the pieces and put them together. After you have your draft together, read it a couple of times – especially out loud, correcting basic mistakes you may find.

As you put this draft together, remember that it must be 8-10 pages in length, include a minimum of five sources, contain a Works Cited page, and be formatted in MLA style. The title page and Works Cited page do not count toward the final page requirement.

I have included my sentence outline as well as my annotated bibliography. Please read my instructor’s feedback regarding my sentence outline and take into consideration when developing the draft:

    Hi,

You have some good research here, and you are on your way to a solid research paper. I am going to share a few pieces of advice so that you will be successful. Please visit the links I provide as well as the links provided in turnitin.com. It is important that you see my specific comments here.

The thesis must clearly assert an arguable judgment, and this argument should not be self-evident. If a reasonable audience is unable to argue your point , then the argument is too weak. One way to make sure your thesis is arguable is to use words like “need” and “must”. Another way is to present the opposition by using “Although” in your thesis. A solid thesis is clear, concise, specific and arguable. You should consider including a road map for your reader with including the how or why to your thesis. The thesis you have is too specific for your paper. Your thesis is about drug abuse, but you present other factors that cause recidivism.

Remember that your thesis is your promise to the audience. You should have only one focus, and that is to prove your thesis. Your topic sentences should support your thesis and provide the organization for your body paragraphs. Additionally, each body paragraph should have only one focus. Think of your thesis as X. You have only one reason for your paper and that is to prove X. You will use A, B, C, D and E to prove X. Therefore, nothing in your paper should be included unless it proves X. Make sure that every topic sentence supports X.

Make sure you avoid first and second person. This means you should avoid I, we, us, you. You should also avoid contractions.

Write concisely. Readers should not have to wade through words to find meaning. Many writers make this mistake. Choose your words and work on concision. Visit this link to learn more.

Think about submitting your work through Smarthinking. The link is located on your homepage under the Services tab. This is a student support service with peer reviewers and tutors can help you revise and edit. They will focus on the areas you request, and the turnaround time is usually 24-72 hours

I am also including a link to an MLA sample paper. It is a good idea to compare your paper with the example provided.
