Stereotypes of Racial, Ethnic, and Sexual Orientation Minorities

PLEASE PROVIDE 2-3 DETAILED AND THOROUGH PARAGRAPHS. USE PROPER APA THROUGHOUT.

Consider the meanings and connotations of terms like “hoodlum,” “beaner,” “towel-head,” and “fag.” These terms are often used with negative undertones and are related to the racial and ethnic, and sexual minority stereotypes that exist in society. Although these terms, independent of other factors, are relatively harmless, the stereotypes they imply may lead to crimes against racial, ethnic, and sexual orientation minorities.

For example, in the cases discussed in the Weekly Introduction, police officers assumed Diallo and Bell to be “suspicious” and armed. These assumptions then led officers to shoot and kill both Diallo and Bell. In the public outcry that surrounded both of these incidents, many argued that Diallo and Bell were victims because of racial stereotypes and assumptions made on the basis of skin color.

For this Discussion, you select a current news story from print or media(no more than 5 years old) that involves a crime committed against an individual or group related to racial and ethnic, and/or sexual orientation stereotypes.

Post by Day 4 a description of the news story you selected. Then explain how racial or ethnic stereotypes may have contributed to the victimization. Finally, explain at least one strategy that might reduce stereotypes contributing to the victimization of racial and ethnic minorities. Support your response with references to the literature and the Learning Resources.

The impact of projected nursing shortage to the nursing profession and to the public is that some hospitals will close some units, divert patients and cancel surgeries because of inadequate numbers of professional nursing personnel, according to The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) . This will compromise patient care and safety and leave the nurses themselves overwhelmed, distressed, and dissatisfied. High patient-to-nurse ratios have been shown to lead to frustration and job burnout, which is linked to higher turnover, (Coshow, S,2009). According to an article published in (2005 by Dr. Peter Buerhaus and associates) found that the majority of RNs (79%) and Chief Nursing Officers (68%) believe the nursing shortage is affecting the overall quality of patient care in hospitals and other settings, including long-term care facilities, ambulatory care settings, and student health centers. Most hospital RNs (93%) report major problems with having enough time to maintain patient safety, detect complications early, and collaborate with other team members.

The nursing profession is working towards a solution by trying to implement specific strategies to retain experienced nurses in the provision of direct patient care, such as introducing greater flexibility into work environment structure and scheduling programs for example by supporting the aging nurse through offering flexibility in scheduling, increased time off, and sabbaticals. Rewarding experienced nurses for serving as mentors and/or preceptors for new registered nurses and implementing appropriate salary and benefit programs which will retain and attract more nurses as they will feel valued.

world history 150-200 words discussion

Initial post

It is 1787. The Philadelphia Convention that was to revise the Articles of Confederation has met.
Instead of revising the Articles of Confederation the 55 delegates from 13 states that met in Philadelphia developed an entirely new document , the Constitution of the United States.
39 of the delegates signed the document. The national debate is now should the states ratify this new document so it becomes the “law of the land”?

If you were living in 1787 what would you support?
Would you be for the Constitution as a Federalist or would you be against the new document and side with the Anti-Federalists?
Explain your choice using facts from Chapters 5 and 6a and Module 6 to support your answer.
No outside research is allowed.
