Music in Commercial Space

The requirements are below. Please write something about the pdf I attached.

Music in Everyday Life: Course Blog

We will use the Music in Everyday Life Blog to further discussion and exploration of material throughout the semester. The blog is on blackboard, and involves two kinds of participation: posting a blog entry, and commenting on others’ blog entries.

Posting a Blog Entry

You are responsible for writing one blog entry during the semester. You will have an assigned week in which to post a blog entry. The content of your post is flexible, but the main idea is to observe something about music in your current everyday life, and to discuss how it relates to topics discussed in class (for example, how it illustrates, provides a counter-example, or compares to something we discussed), and/or frame how it is relevant to but goes beyond what we’ve covered in class – perhaps raising a question about how music works in everyday life to be fruitfully considered together. As with the 24-hour listening notes assignment, part of the goal here is to start noticing more about the music around you and what it is doing. Your entry should not duplicate other assignments for this or other classes (ex. don’t write a blog entry about our field trip to the mall, though you could write about hearing music in a different commercial space at a different time; don’t submit something you wrote for another class, though it would be great to write about how something from another class relates to this one, comparing the different perspectives). If you are unsure about what to write about, feel free to come talk to us about it. The main thing I ask is that you are thoughtful and careful. The basic guidelines for your posts are as follows:

  • Your posts should be a minimum of 300 words.
  • They should be posted by Monday, by 11.59pm on your assigned week.
  • You should maintain a respectful and courteous tone at all times (this also applies to comments on others’ blog entries).
  • Your material should be original, with full citations for any material that you quote.
  • Plan ahead: if it turns out your Monday deadline falls at an especially busy time, you can post up to four days early, as early as the Thursday before

Posts will be graded as follows:

3: Thoughtful post with careful execution (i.e., proofread for grammatical errors and typos)

2: Solid post, but done hastily (i.e., not as thoughtful as it could be; contains typos)

1: A post, but very sloppy, after the deadline, or otherwise lacking

0: Nothing turned in or too late to receive credit

Commenting

In addition to posting a blog entry, you are asked to read blog entries posted by your fellow classmates and respond by posting a comment at least twice (total), in different weeks. Comments should be posted on the current week’s blog entries by Friday by 11.59pm (though ideally on Tuesday or Wednesday). There is no word limit on responses: they just need to be at least one complete sentence (“lol!” does not count as a complete sentence).

You are welcome to post to the blog as often as you like, provided that you are posting relevant and thoughtful material. Regularly posting and/or commenting on others’ blog entries (i.e. in most weeks) in a way that demonstrates engagement will add to your participation grade. I hope that many of us will get in the habit of reading the blog regularly and sharing material often!

The Ethics of Workplace Privacy

This project provides an opportunity to apply the framework for Legal and Ethical practices for a Human Resource Manager to a scenario-based case. The project examines how Human Resource Managers help an organization meet their goals and objectives by applying Legal and Ethical foundations to a specific application. In each module, you complete a component of the project that ultimately provides you with an opportunity to make recommendations to the organization regarding their goals and objectives.

ACME Company, Inc.

  • ACME Company, Inc. is a medium-sized company in the cosmetic industry and is based in Arizona. The company originally began in 1992 by a brother and sister team, Paul and Mary. Ten years later, Paul and Mary incorporated the company and went public. They hired new executive leadership so Paul could focus on innovation and Mary could focus on being the Human Resource Manager. Since that time, they have grown from a small business to a medium-sized company with 750 employees. Paul and Mary started the company with strong family values, such as working together as one team, looking after each other, and valuing each individual employee. By 2015, they noticed some of those values “slipping” as new executive leadership has come on board to help run the company.
  • ACME Company, Inc. is facing a major decision – to move into the 21st Century or maintain the status quo. Paul and Mary started the company with family values but have a desire to innovate and grow. Mary became the HRM when they incorporated and Paul became head of Research & Development. The new executive leadership does not share their same values, and, is questioning the need for a budget for Research & Development since the company is already so successful and a major market leader. Paul and Mary, though, want to continue to be innovative and grow.

ASSIGNMENT

Part of ACME’s ability to grow and be innovative involves the use of the latest technology. As the Human Resource Manager, Mary knows there are implications to allowing the employees “free reign” of company property. However, the executive leadership is not worried. Remember, the company has 750 employees.

For this project assignment on ACME Company, Inc. complete a minimum of 4 pages that addresses the following concepts:

  • The issues the company faces if Mary cannot institute a workplace privacy policy.
  • The ethical challenges associated with executive leadership, Mary, and the employees.
  • The consequences associated with the organization’s culture and objectives, from an HRM perspective.
  • The best way for Mary to convince executive leadership that it’s the ethical decision to make, with respect to workplace privacy.

Make sure to include an APA formatted title page and reference page for sources that you may have used for your research. Remember to follow APA guidelines for in-text citations when paraphrasing or quoting information.

Many of the players who suffer from
concussion-related problems today experience similar symptoms as Al Toon
experienced such balance problems, nausea, and sensitivity to sound and vision.
The NFL has been under a lot of pressure to detect and treat concussion
symptoms, but the numbers have not receded yet. Although the recognition and
treatment process consisting of six steps has been somewhat successful, players
still fake results. New improvements such as the padded helmet and the
technology improving the mouth guards may increase the efforts that aim at
detecting and isolating cases of concussions early before they develop. The
recovery process should also be monitored to ensure that players are well
rested and that they deal their emotional issues before being cleared to get
back on the field.

Gender Dysphoria GID has been replaced by the DMS-V with Gender Dysphoria,

Respond to post using in text apa format

Question 3C: GID has been replaced by the DMS-V with Gender Dysphoria, which is a more sympathetic term for the transgender community. Gender Dysphoria (GD) is defined as a clear incongruence between a person’s experienced and assigned gender of at a minimum of six months, accompanied with clinically substantial distress or impairment in social, professional, or other significant areas of functioning (Bockting, 2015). People who have ongoing GD usually have an experienced gender identity that contrasts considerably from their anatomical self and they may contemplate altering their gender role and medically changing their body to attain greater wellbeing with themselves (Bockting, 2015). This issues remains controversial because some believe it is psychopathologizing the experience, but at least it does allow people to get the affordable health care they need (Bockting, 2015).

In my opinion, GD should remain on the DSM until a cause can be determined. Some theorized causes of GD are hormonal: excess female hormones from the mother’s system or by the foetus’s insensitivity to hormones (AIS) (Mandal, 2013). Other theorized causes are congenital adrenal hyperplasia, intersex conditions, chromosomal abnormalities, and defects in normal human bonding and child rearing (Mandal, 2013). In addition, I remember watching a documentary that noticed differences in brain imaging in people with GD than others. I am sure that like most disorders, GD is an interplay of multiple factors that contribute to a person’s development of GD and it may be very difficult to pinpoint one cause. Because of this, the fact that I believe there is an explainable cause (just not known), I believe GD should remain on the DSM.

I understand that people who have GD do not want to be stigmatized as mentally ill, and I do not want them to feel wrong or “sick” for feeling differently than the norm. In addition, I know that people who argue that it should not be labeled a disease/disorder/dysphoria/illness state that it is just a human variation (Whalen, 2012). Maybe it is my inability to fully empathize, but I cannot see how a “normal” human variation would lead a person to want to anatomically/socially change his/her gender; this desire does not seem like normal coping. Normal coping, to me, would be accepting your anatomical sex but just desiring to do the opposite gender’s roles/activities/styles. For example, a woman can still be a woman but do whatever stereotypical male thing she desires without actually wanting to be male.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

The Case of Jeff: Pedophile in Institution

Jeff is a 35-year-old male who is an inmate in your maximum security facility. Jeff has recently been transferred to your facility from another facility, largely for protective reasons. Jeff has come to you because he is very, very worried. Jeff is a pedophile and he has been in prison for nearly five years. His expected release date is coming up and he may very well get released due to prison overcrowding problems and his own exemplary behavior. He has been in treatment and, as you look through his case notes, you can tell that he has done very well.

But there were other inmates at his prior prison facility who did not want to see him get paroled. In fact, it is a powerful inmate gang, and Jeff had received “protection” from this gang in exchange for providing sexual favors to a select trio of inmate gang members. Jeff discloses that while humiliating, he had to do this to survive in the prison subculture, particularly since he was a labeled and known pedophile. The gang knew this, of course, and used this as leverage to ensure that Jeff was compliant. In fact, the gang never even had to use any physical force whatsoever to gain Jeff’s compliance. Jeff notes that this now bothers him and he doubts his own sense of masculinity.

Jeff has performed well in treatment for sex offenders. But he has also been adversely affected by noxious sexual experiences inside the prison. You are the first person that he has disclosed this to. Further, he is beginning to wonder if he may have HIV/AIDS; he notes that he feels fatigued more frequently and that he gets ill more easily. However, he makes it very clear that he does not want to be tested until he is out of prison and he does not want his fears known to others in the prison.

As you listen to his plight, you begin to wonder if his issues with sexuality are actually now more unstable than they were in prison. Though his treatment notes seem convincing, this is common among pedophiles. But what was not known to the other therapist was how Jeff had engaged in undesired sexual activity while incarcerated. This activity has created a huge rift in Jeff’s masculine identity. Will this affect his likelihood for relapse on the outside? Will Jeff be able to have a true adult–adult relationship on the outside? If not, will he be more enticed to have an adult–child relationship? Does Jeff need to resolve his concerns with consensual versus forced homosexual activity? You begin to wonder.

Now as you listen, you realize that if you make mention of this, then the classification system is not likely to release Jeff, and this condemns him to more of the same type of exploitation (gang members are in this prison, too; they just are of different gangs but will eventually learn of his past and follow suit with the prior gang). Oh, and if you do say something, will Jeff feel that honesty and counseling are simply an exercise in vulnerability and betrayal? Or do you not mention this information and by the same token allow someone to be released with a highly questionable prognosis.

You sit there listening to Jeff, who is on the verge of tears. You begin to wonder what you should do and what ethical and/or legal bounds you need to consider …

Add citations to business discussion

“While you relied on some reliable sources, the assigned text readings must serve as your primary source, as was indicated in multiple places. This week, the assigned readings are Chapters 1 and 3 of the Kroenke text. Please edit your post to include extensive citations from the assigned readings. Among these should be a discussion of the concept of “ethics” according to the principles of utilitarianism and categorical imperative that are discussed in the text.”

Please edit post according to the above critique. The post is below. The reference needed is

Question six: If you are in this situation, would you leave the company? Why or why not?

If I were in such a situation, I would not leave the company. The decision for the promoter of Yikes to sell the company to Major Capital was perhaps not the right thing to do, but that is already out of hands. Ethical decision making is critical in this case (Wood, 2001). The transition process is too fast than it would be expected. Andrea Parks’s mentions that the company intends to produce bikes which are of low quality than the Yike brand. He also mentions that the company plans to cut some of the employees in the manufacturing department and also in the customer care department. Park argues that those employees who spend much time with the customers need to be laid off. All these suggestions are unethical and harmful to both the employees and even to the customers (Trevino, 2006). Park mentions that the market will take time before detecting that the quality of the bikes is different meaning that the company intends to use the brand to deceive the customers.

The planned layoffs are unprocedural neither do they seem to take care of the employee’s needs. The request by the former promoter that park may take care of the employees is ignored. The employees have not been given any notice on such changes. Given the situation, leaving the company or choosing to stay would not change anything much but perhaps staying in the new company creates a possibility of a few changes. I would use my position to make the new boss understand the right way of doing things and make the decisions which do not harm the employees while still making the business competitive. Leaving the company would also be harmful to my wife yet my resignation would perhaps change nothing to the company. I would therefore not leave but choose to stay in the company.

Unit VI Case Study (PFES)

On February 23, 1991, one of the most tragic fires to date happened at 1 Meridian Plaza in Philadelphia. As a result of this fire and the deaths of several Philadelphia firefighters, many codes were changed that affected different fire protection systems in high-rise buildings.

Research the 1 Meridian Plaza tragedy. After completing your research, write a review of this tragedy, concentrating on codes and fire protection systems that contributed to this tragedy, tying these to this unit’s readings. Discuss what went wrong and how these systems and codes, or lack thereof, contributed to the deaths of the firefighters that night. This review is to be two pages in length.

All sources used, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA style. Your paper should include a title page and should include a separate reference page.

Literary Essay

Prompt:

Write a literary essay on Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee

Novel: Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee

Be
aware that you will be writing about a novel, which in its broadest
sense is any extended fictional narrative almost always in prose, in
which the representation of character is often the focus. Good authors
use the elements of fiction, such as plot, theme, setting etc.
purposefully, with a very clear goal in mind. One of the paths to
literary analysis is to discover what the author’s purpose is with each
of his choices. Avoid the problem that many students have, which is to
hold the erroneous assumption that simply retelling what happened in
detail is good enough (no, it is not). Plot summary is necessary, but
not the intended goal in a literary essay.

Criteria:

In addition to being written at college level, your essay must meet the following criteria:

  • include an introduction with a clear thesis statement, body paragraphs, and a conclusion
  • use
specific supporting details from the book and at least two from outside
sources. Go to the Miami Dade Databases (not Google) for your sources
  • use at least three quotes from the book
  • use MLA style. It is helpful to keep your handbook open to the MLA tab as you write.
  • be at least 5 paragraphs, about 750 words minimum (that’s about 3 typed, double-spaced pages in Times New Roman 12 point font)
  • adhere to Standard American English grammar and mechanics rules

A Helpful Approach:

  • Read Disgrace
by J. M. Coetzee in its entirety before beginning your paper. Take
notes as you read. If you feel you need some guidance as to themes you
might be looking out for, take a quick look at the following Schmoop
    page: http://www.shmoop.com/disgrace-coetzee/themes.html for guidance.
Read the novel and mark interesting passages and save necessary source
information (such as page numbers) for your in-text documentation and
    your Works Cited list.
  • Think
about the topic and approach you chose located in the Topics and
Approaches page. Do not simply repeat or summarize the story.

    • Write your well-constructed thesis, topic sentences, supporting details roughly before beginning.
  • Do
some research. It’s important to know a bit about apartheid and
post-apartheid South Africa before you begin the paper. Take notes and
save necessary source information for your Works Cited list.

    • Use at least two outside sources from scholarly sites or journals.
    • Look at sample papers to refresh your memory concerning the format in Rules for Writers, 8th edition.
    • Write a 5-paragraph (or more) essay, about 750-words (or more if necessary).
    • Avoid
expressions, that announce your argument; just state the argument
without phrases such as the following: “in my opinion”; “I think”; “I
believe.” Avoid “very” and “really in formal writing.
  • Revise,
edit, and proofread, proofread, proofread. You may also use any of the
writing labs and centers in any MDC campus, where a tutor might help
you. There are some sites that help you catch grammar errors, such as
GrammarRater, but remember, they’re not human and don’t read for
    content.

Remember: While you assemble your sources, keep your handbook open (or your online source handy).
