Continuing Case: Personal Trainer, Inc.

Personal Trainer, Inc. owns and operates fitness centers in a dozen Midwestern cities. The centers
have done well, and the company is planning an international expansion by opening a new
“supercenter” in the Toronto area. Personal Trainer’s president, Cassia Umi, hired an IT
consultant, Susan Park, to help develop an information system for the new facility. During the
project, Susan will work closely with Gray Lewis, who will manage the new operation.

Background

Following the decision to use an in-house team to develop a design prototype, Susan began to
work on the physical design for Personal Trainer’s new information system. At this stage, she is
ready to begin working with Gray on the output and user interface design. Together, Susan and
Gray will seek to develop a user-centered design that is easy to learn and use. Personal Trainer
users will include managers, fitness instructors, support staff, and members themselves.

Tasks

1. For the prototype user interface, design a switchboard that leads from main sections to sub-
sections of related system tasks. The main sections may include member information, regis-
tration, payments, fitness instructors, and any other top-level sections necessary for Personal
Trainer’s system. Subsections may include account information, class registration, schedules,
and class rosters. Prepare storyboards that show the proposed screens, including at least two
sublevel tasks for each action.

  1. Members need to be able to register for classes online. Follow the guidelines and
suggestions in this chapter, and design an online class registration screen form.
  2. In addition to being available online, members can register for fitness classes through the
mail or by dropping off a mail-in form. Follow the guidelines and suggestions in this chapter,
and design a paper source document.
  3. Personal Trainer is very concerned about the security and protection of the information they
collect in the new information system. Prepare a memo to Gray and Personal Trainer’s staff
that explains the input and output security controls that will be built into the new systems
and the policies that will enforce these controls.

Macroeconomic Essay about the topic attached

Econ 201 Essay #1

From the Hubbard text supplemental materials:

In their best-selling book Freakonomics, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner (2005) argue that cheating is part of human behavior. Evidence that some people cheat surfaced in the summer of 2011 when the superintendent of the board of the Atlanta school district resigned after a report documented widespread cheating on standardized tests that implicated officials from about 80 percent of Atlanta’s elementary and middle schools (Jonsson, 2011). Following an investigation of the scandal, three dozen teachers and administrators were due to stand trial in 2013 for coaching students and changing their answers in order to improve test results. Since then, most of the educators have pleaded guilty (McCauley, 2013). On Monday, August 11, 2014, the trail began for the remaining 12 educators who did not plead guilty (Beasley, 2014).

Steven Levitt and other economists assume that decision makers—students and nonstudents alike—are rational. They compare the benefits and costs of their options and make choices for which the expected benefits exceed the expected costs. The benefits of (successful) cheating may be monetary; for example, K–12 teachers in some states are eligible for bonus payments of up to $25,000 if their students perform well on standardized tests.

New technology has made it easier for high school and college students to cheat. The widespread use of cell phones and Internet access makes it easier (less costly) to share exam answers and buy term papers. Of course, cheating is also a moral matter for many people. For these people, one of the costs of cheating is the guilt they will feel for violating the rules governing the activity they are engaged in.

For this essay, present an economic analysis of academic “cheating” – including costs and benefits for the cheater, costs of monitoring, and costs to other students. Write your essay in narrative form (not enumerated question & answer form), including answers to the following questions in your narrative:

•What were the circumstances that surrounded the teacher cheating in the Atlanta school system? Could the cheating have been prevented? At what cost? Was the “reward” exceptionally high for the cheaters?

•Under what circumstances might a student cheat on an exam?Under what circumstances might a student plagiarize some portion of a paper? Can such cheating be prevented? At what cost?

•In their book, Levitt and Dubner present other cases of cheating, and claim that everybody cheats or lies at some time. Their position is that, as with any rational decision, people will cheat if they perceive the cost and impact of cheating to be low, if the probability of getting caught is low, if the stakes are high, or if the reward for cheating is exceptionally high. Do you agree? Explain.

The essay body should be 2 – 3 pages. No more than 5% of the essay can be directly quoted. At least one valid source

Quandaries in Health Care

Declining Trust in the Health Care System (The Trust Crisis)

Health reform is mired in the morass of multitier payment systems and multiple modes of access, limited by the ability to seek and to pay. Increasingly, patients are interacting with multiple entities within the system, causing more and more confusion on the part of the patient. According to recent research, patients’ trust in the system, providers, and insurers continues to decline. This may result in a decline in individual health and an increase in costs for health care.

Investigate the declining trust in the health care system from an ethical and moral position. You may use the four principles plus attention to scope model of Beauchamp and Childress or any other ethical model that you choose to address this.

Complete the following:

  • State what model you will use to investigate this issue.
  • Identify 2 or more legal issues contributing to this problem.
  • Identify 2 or more economic and financial issues contributing to this problem.
  • Analyze the impact of various issues that are contributing to this problem, and rank them in order from greatest to least impact.
  • Propose at least 1 modification that would increase trust in the health care system with rationale.

The Usefulness of Annotated Bibliographies

Annotated bibliographies may be useful when organizing your thoughts on a particular topic, summarizing material related to a particular issue, or trying to synthesize disparate pieces of research. Annotated bibliographies also are useful when developing verbal and written skills. Annotated bibliographies often are viewed as an academic tool that does not have application to real-life or to jobs in the field of criminal justice.

This view is not correct. Annotated bibliographies may be used in a wide array of jobs in the criminal justice system, including those in law enforcement, the courts, and corrections.

For this assignment, consider how using annotated bibliographies might improve verbal and writing skills. Also consider how to use those skills in the field of criminal justice.

Provide an explanation of how using annotated bibliographies might improve verbal and writing skills. Then explain how the skills obtained from using annotated bibliographies might be beneficial in your current role or in a criminal justice role in which you might be interested in working in the future.

What might one do to prevent professional burnout? —->>> see attachment! –> 1 paragraph

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TB2Z_ymO4eYymYa5a…

2. create a 1 nice well develop respond.

One thing a clinician can do to prevent professional burnout is understand what it is that makes them stressed. Perhaps, looking at individual stressors is a start to understanding one’s stresses. Another way to prevent professional burnout is by reframing our thoughts this is called self defeating internal dialogue. I personally would use self defeating internal dialogue because it is something clinicians can control where clinician can’t control the situation. Identifying cognitive distortions i.e arbitrary inferences, selective, abstraction, overgeneralization ect is also another way to control cognitive processes. Lastly, it is also important to know when a person is near professional burnout to do the necessary things to bypass it. If for example, a person is near professional burnout and does not know it and doesn’t know what to do, it is likely that they will have a hard to getting out of their burnout stage.

3. create original answer 1 paragraph

How does a counselor’s attitudes toward their clients affect their life outside the work setting?

4. create answer to classmates 1 nice well development paragraph

As a counselor, it could be difficult to leave work at work and just “shut off” your counselor self once you are outside of that setting. Dealing with clients who have experienced terrible things happen to them can be very difficult, however it is important that we are able to establish boundaries. A counselor who cannot establish boundaries with clients can put them at risk by focusing too much on the struggles they are facing and not living their own life. It is important to not become too emotionally involved with clients because we risk countertransference (Neukrug, 2016).

A counselor who is overly emotional and spends time outside of work agonizing over their clients is likely to experience burnout quickly. This goes along with self-care. We have to take care of ourselves in order to do our best to help our clients. Recognizing that there is only so much we can do and that the client is ultimately the one who has to live their life and be able to adjust to the challenges they face will result in us focusing on our role as a counselor and not getting overly involved or putting the client at risk unnecessarily.

6. create the comment for classmate

I enjoyed hearing this video because it is important to address burnout especially in the field of psychology. I like the point Professor Morris made when she explains that it is important not to be over emotional with clients because counseling deals with so much emotion’s. It is likely that I will be in a situation where being emotional happens, and perhaps, clients are looking for these type of emotion, but having the appropriate attitude is important. Although, knowing the difference from over emotional and sympathy sounds simple, it can be hard to do at that moment, thinking “what can I do to make it better” and knowing that “we cannot control our clients” directs professionals to the right road of helping clients. These mindsets can also really takes the load off professionals shoulders. Overall, this talk was great to hear because it address an issue that is so common and underlooked.

Assignment

You are the director of sales and marketing for a major hotel located in a large metro area. The hotel arranged a contract with a state agency to host its annual conference, which you authorized. The amount stated in the contract is $15,000.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the conference has been held at the hotel. In the past, this agency has used a cash bar at the event. However, this year, the contract indicates that the event has an open bar.

The event goes very well. You submit an invoice to the agency representative that accurately describes what was provided:

  • $8,500.00 for food
  • $3,500.00 for alcoholic beverages
  • $3,000.00 for room and audio/visual (AV) charges
  • $15,000.00 total

Carol Channing, the representative of the state, calls you upon receipt of the invoice. She says that after the contract for services was signed but before the event happened, she spoke with Demi, one of your sales representatives who has since left the company. Ms. Channing states that she and Demi reached a verbal agreement that the invoice would reflect only food, room, and AV charges because the state will not pay for alcoholic beverages. As soon as Ms. Channing says the state will not pay for alcoholic beverages, you recall why this event always had a cash bar. She insists that you send over a revised invoice pursuant to the verbal agreement.

  • What do you do? Why?
  • What about the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)? Do any provisions of the UCC apply?

scholar.

Background information

In Christ, we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

(Romans 12:5)

Each of us is one with Christ and important as part of “the body” of believers. As individual nurses, we represent one perspective, but we are also a part of a greater whole – the profession of nursing. What is your understanding of being “part of the body” of Christ? How does this relate to being part of a larger professional body – are there any similarities or differences? What does individual responsibility mean as a member of the body?
