help with physical science

You are a scientist in your life and in the real world. Part of the fun of learning about the world and how it works is going beyond the text and seeing it for yourself in action.

This quarter you are studying 4 major fields of science Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science and Astronomy. For two (2) of those fields, you will perform an experiment and create a lab report.

At the end of each chapter you are assigned to read this quarter, there are “ACTIVITIES (HANDS-ON APPLICATION)” where you can find your “experiment.”

Don’t let this be the only place you look! Venture to YouTube or the Science channel’s show “Outrageous Acts of Science.” If you have wanted to put a Mentos in a bottle of Diet Coke – this is the time! If you want an excuse to go camping or hiking, star gazing or doing a geological study might just be the way to go. You could even make up one of your own! Include your family, your friends, your pets! Have fun!

CAUTION: Please make sure that you have the proper safety equipment when conducting any experiment. This generally includes but is not limited to, eye protection in the form of goggles or safety glasses and clothing that is not loose fitting.

For each lab report you must:

Describe the purpose and hypothesis of the experiment. (What are you trying to prove or see?)

List/show the materials used.

Describe the procedure. (Describe the steps of the experiment and what you did so that a classmate could replicate if they wanted.)

write up an analysis of your individual tendencies in each of the areas in the assessments 8pages

1) Complete the following four assessments: IA1 (Big 5), IA2 (Jung), IB1 (terminal, instrumental values), IE1 (emotional intelligence).

2) Based on the results of the assessments, write up an analysis of your individual tendencies in each of the areas in the assessments. Use course concepts in the analysis as well as examples from your life to support. Be sure to adequately cover each of the dimensions in the assessments in your analysis. (You do not have to cover the introversion/extraversion dimension for both the Big 5 and the Jungian scale, however–just cover it once.)

Please consult the lecture and/or this file for an understanding of the Jungian dimensions. (The assessment doesn’t give a good explanation.) You can also consult the Dreamhouse slides

3) Then discuss the types of work situations in which you would struggle, given your behavioral tendencies, and what you could contribute to a team or organization, given your behavioral tendencies.

(This paper should be about 8 pages long: About 5-6 pages for #2 above and about 2-3 pages for #3. However, the professor grades papers based on content, not length.)

Comprehensive SOAP Note

I already did the first sections of soap note which are section l,ll, and lll which are attached so you can have an idea of what I need. now I need to finalize this and I’m having trouble doing it. I need from section IV from objective data all the way to the end.

Comprehensive SOAP Note

This Assignment will help develop skills to perform an integrated history and physical examination for individuals across the lifespan.

Considerations of lifestyle practices, cultural/ethnic differences, and developmental variations will be incorporated into the plan of care.

  1. Use critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills to formulate differential diagnoses, medical diagnoses, and an evidence-based action plan.
  2. Include sections 1 and 2 of the SOAP note with recommendations (incorrect or omitted data) based on feedback provided for the previous sections of the SOAP note.
  3. Click here for the written guide for the Comprehensive SOAP Note.

World view

This assignment uses the information you have gathered for your weekly World View Chart Assignments.

Choose ONE (1) category (origin of all things, nature of god, view of human nature, view of good and evil, etc.) from the chart to focus on for this assignment. Consider how the selected category relates to all of the religions covered and to your own social or work experiences.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Select ONE (1) category from the completed World View Chart. Provide a rationale for choosing this category. What is compelling about this category? Why is it important in the study of religion?
  2. Describe the selected content and explain the significance of the selected category across all of the religions studied. Show in what ways the category is significant for each religion.
  3. Give an example of how you have noticed this category in your life, town or country. What impact does this category have in the everyday lives of people who practice religion in your area? (You do not have to give examples of all the religions in your area, just one you have noticed besides any you practice). For example, in Cincinnati, Ohio we have Hindu, Greek Orthodox, Catholic festivals in the summer. So if my category were “Festivals and Celebrations” I could use those events as my example.
  4. Use at least three (3) quality resources as references for the assignment and document your sources using APA Style for in-text citations and references. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
  5. Write clearly and coherently using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and mechanics.

Your assignment must:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

UNIT6

Unit VI Case Study

Natural Disasters

This case study requires you to select a natural disaster that has occurred in the past decade. You will start by researching the CSU Online Library for articles, preferably from a peer-reviewed journal, related to the disaster and how the community responded to the disaster. You may also do an Internet search for articles and information regarding how the aftereffects of the disaster were mitigated through a community-wide effort. What are the key components of a communications plan during a disaster? What are the components of an internal emergency operations plan for natural disasters?

Disaster suggestions Include, but are not limited to:

 Joplin tornado, 

South Carolina flooding, and 

Hurricane Sandy.

Your case study should address at least three of these main points:

 disaster summary, 

evacuation efforts, 

rescue operations, 

public education and notification efforts, 

public utilities recovery, and 

community recovery from the disaster.

Your case study should be well-organized and at least two pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. You are required to have at least two sources, and one must be from the CSU Online Library. Your textbook is NOT required for this assignment, although you may choose to use it when discussing concepts that apply to the disaster. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted materials must have accompanying citations in accordance with APA standards.

Court decision

explain how the Court’s decision will impact the business or industry involved in the case.

In Janus v. American Federation, the Court will again tackle the issue of compelled financial support for public unions, and if public employees can be forced to pay dues to unions they don’t belong to as an effort to offset contract-negotiation costs. In 1977, the Court said unions could charge such fees, but recent doubts have emerged from some Justices that the practice can continue.

A divided Supreme Court said that public-sector employees who don’t belong to unions can’t be forced to pay union contract-negotiating fees. Justice Samuel Alito said that “states and public-sector unions may no longer extract agency fees from nonconsenting employees. The First Amendment is violated when money is taken from nonconsenting employees for a public-sector union; employees must choose to support the union before anything is taken from them.”

1. Read the article “Optimism Depression”.

2. Choose 5 aspects or ideas regarding the article’s content.

3. Journal 2-3 Sentences on each of the 5 ideas.

4. See Sample Journaling on 2 ideas below, with 3 other proposed journaling foci.

Optimism Depression Journaling for Health

Journaling Sample:

  1. In my mind, I have always paired the word optimism with pessimism. I had never thought of them as “emotional” or “psychological states”. I did not know there were “medical/clinical” health implications for these words. I have known individuals who termed themselves “pessimists”. Should I try to talk to them about the negative health implications of the “attitude” or “state of mind”.

Additional journaling themes I might consider as part of the 5 total items.

  1. I know that “critical thinking” must involve some type of “pessimistic” view of reality, facts as presented, statements by people, political and other ideas. What is a healthy balance, and when should we accept the pessimistic view as not only healthy, be the only realistic view to have? I think of the Hitler era in Germany when so many good people “bought into” the Nazi propaganda and created a mass of people who executed a war on all of humanity. Pessimism would have been healthy? Or, am I confusing pessimism with skepticism?
  2. Skepticism versus Pessimism:
  3. Individual optimism versus group optimism.
  4. How can a depressed person be “optimistic”.

World Culture Assignment

Choose one (1) of the three (3) reading selections from the list of topic choices below. The focus is on brief but important primary source material written by major authors. Read the selections as identified with each topic below. Write a three to four (3-4) paragraph essay (250 words minimum) which analyzes the “surprise ending” of the reading selection.

Topic Choices

  • Reading selection from Descartes’ Discourse on the Method (Part IV). Descartes begins with a proof of one basic conclusion and ends with a proof of something much grander. Remember to focus on the surprise and point of realization, not the details of the philosophical argument. Read Part IV of the Discourse on the Method located at http://www.earlymoderntexts.com/assets/pdfs/descartes1637.pdf (then scroll down to Part 4, pp. 14-18). This is only four or five (4 or 5) pages of the larger work.
  • Reading selection of Swift’s A Modest Proposal. It is essential to recognize the genre of this work, as discussed in our class text, which you should consult and cite. Swift promotes a radical solution, but subtle options are mentioned. You are looking for surprise and a point of realization. Read and focus on A Modest Proposal located at http://www.victorianweb.org/previctorian/swift/modest.html.
  • Two (2) reading selections from Voltaire’s Candide. Consider how these readings start and end in terms of the action and the beliefs. You are looking for surprise and a point of realization. These selections can be found on pp. 840-841 in the textbook. In addition, consult the class text at pp. 824-825.

For the reading selection you choose:

  1. Clearly state in your own words the “surprise ending” in the reading you selected. Clearly identify the point in the reading when you realized that there were elements in the reading that surprised you. Not all of the surprises come at the end.
  2. Evaluate how successful the author was in convincing you to accept the validity of the “surprise ending” that was different from what you expected.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA Style format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. (Note: Students can find APA style materials located in the Additional Resources section of their Student Center within their course shell for reference)
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
  • Use the source(s) identified above for the topic you choose, focusing on the main primary source of that author. You may use additional sources also if they are of good academic quality for college papers (Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify). Use proper APA style in-text citing and also a matching APA style References list at the end.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Explain how key social, cultural, and artistic contributions contribute to historical changes.
  • Explain the importance of situating a society’s cultural and artistic expressions within a historical context.
  • Examine the influences of intellectual, religious, political, and socio-economic forces on social, cultural, and artistic expressions.
  • Identify major historical developments in world cultures from the Renaissance to the contemporary period.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in the study of world cultures.
  • Write clearly and concisely about world cultures using proper writing mechanics.

communication

In “What Does My Headscarf Mean to You? Ms. Magied explains that bias is the result of diversity and is prevalent in the workplace. She says “Bias can be about race, it can be about gender. It can also be about class, education, disability. The fact is, we all have biases against what’s different, what’s different to our social norms.”

Further, she explains that biases, whether conscious or unconscious, are shaped by our experiences, culture, and lifestyles – or as our text calls it “our culture”. One could say those biases are simply an extension of our diversity as individuals. Naturally, our biases affect not only our worldview, but also our decision making—sometimes without us even knowing. Biases also affect the way we communicate.

Reflect on the TedTalk or listen to the talk by assessing this link http://www.ted.com/talks/yassmin_abdel_magied_what_does_my_headscarf_mean_to_you/transcript?language=en. Consider the following questions as you prepare your reflection/journal entry response:

  1. What about her discussion of unconscious bias was most interesting to you? Why?

2. How has unconscious bias affected you and what unconscious bias do you have?

3. How would you remedy unconscious bias in the workplace?

4. What was the author’s suggestion for remedying unconscious bias? Why would this work?

These questions are due in your Journal by Wednesday, January 23rd.

Journal Entry 2 – Reflect on the discussion on our diversity discussions and the set of questions as they relate to and impact communication and answer the following questions in your Journal. (Answer the following three questions in your journal entry.)

1. How can bias – conscious our unconscious – impact communication? Where does that impact happen in the Communication Model?

2. List at least three areas Ms. Magied sited that could lead to miscommunication as a result of diversity.

3. What tools would you use to improve communication in each of the instances you site.

The answers to these questions are due in your Journal by Friday, January 27th.

Managerial Analysis

Purpose of Assignment

This comprehensive case requires students to evaluate a static budget and prepare flexible budgets to meet managerial needs. Students are required to calculate and analyze variances and discuss how variances are critical to managerial decision making.

Assignment Steps

Resources: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), U.S. Securities and Exchange Committee (SEC), Green Pastures Static Budget Income Statement

Tutorial help on Excel® and Word functions can be found on the Microsoft® Office website. There are also additional tutorials via the web offering support for Office products.

Scenario: Green Pastures is a 400-acre farm on the outskirts of the Kentucky Bluegrass, specializing in the boarding of broodmares and their foals. A recent economic downturn in the thoroughbred industry has led to a decline in breeding activities, and it has made the boarding business extremely competitive. To meet the competition, Green Pastures planned in 2017 to entertain clients, advertise more extensively, and absorb expenses formerly paid by clients such as veterinary and blacksmith fees.

The budget report for 2017 is presented as an attachment. As shown, the static income statement budget for the year is based on an expected 21,900 boarding days at $25 per mare. The variable expenses per mare per day were budgeted: feed $5, veterinary fees $3, blacksmith fees $0.25, and supplies $0.55. All other budgeted expenses were either semifixed or fixed.

During the year, management decided not to replace a worker who quit in March, but it did issue a new advertising brochure and did more entertaining of clients.

Develop a 500-word examination of the financial statements and include the following:

  • Based on the static budget report:
    • What was the primary cause(s) of the loss in net income?
    • Did management do a good, average, or poor job of controlling expenses?
    • Were management’s decisions to stay competitive sound?
  • Prepare a flexible budget report for the year.
  • Based on the flexible budget report:
    • What was the primary cause(s) of the loss in net income?
    • Did management do a good, average, or poor job of controlling expenses?
    • Were management’s decisions to stay competitive sound?
  • What course of action do you recommend for the management of Green Pastures?
