how culture and art are related

Write a 350 -word paper reflecting on what art means to you and how culture and art are related.

Include the following:

  • In the first main paragraph, I want you to describe your first encounter as a child with something you realized was art.  Describe the art piece, and your reaction to it.
  • The second main paragraph should focus on how you now believe, as an adult, that piece of art reflected the culture in which you lived.
  • The third main paragraph should tell me what you gained as you reflected on the connection between art and culture.
  • Once you’ve done the body, go back and add an introduction, telling me what you intend to tell me, and starting the paper with a significant quote about art, which leads you to your thesis (review Appendix T in order to know how to write your thesis).
  • Finally, write your concluding paragraph, referring back to the introductory quote, restating the thesis, and giving a final bit of insight.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Reflection on Creativity Innovation and Design (800 Words)

Write a reflection as a student in charge of sound that has came up with a video (Implementation plan and video will be uploaded) with his/her group mates.

You must highlight your learning outcomes, and explain how those learning outcomes will affect their behavior in the future. Areas such as the creative process, conflict management, team cohesion, communication and planning etc must all be discussed and considered as part of the journey.

You must always support these experiences with a theoretical foundation, largely because only a reflection based on a sound theoretical foundation can a true represent a reflective journey.

The reflective piece is not a log or a diarised exposition of what took place over the semester. Rather you must address the emotional and cognitive journey which you have undertook, that is, what where your initial expectations of the course (Creativity Innovation & Design) were and how (if at all) they have changed over the journey.

Please include Tuckman’s four phases of group advancement and include 3-5 References in Harvard style referencing completed with citations

Symbolism in Fences by August WIlson

For your play paper, you will submit a typed, titled, page numbered, double-spaced essay answering a student created and answered hypothesis, with a demonstrable thesis. Please include a works cited page including all sources, both primary and secondary, you cite from in MLA format. There is no need to include a cover page.

Your paper may only cover one (1) work of literature we have read for class. Significant points will be taken off for failing to follow this directive.

We have read so far include…

  • Fences

The paper will have an introductory paragraph with a thesis, body of essay, and conclusion. This should be 1,000-1,250 words NOT including the works cited. Your paper will be written according to MLA 8 documentation. Please include your works cited page in the same document, partitioned from the conclusion of your paper with a page break.

For this paper, I am requiring at least two secondary sources. At least one of these sources need to be directly related to the works of literature you are close reading. All papers must have at least three quotes from the primary source and at least two from secondary sources. Your discussions of these quotes must exceed the quote in length.

Please do not have more than one paragraph of summary. I have read these works too.

400 word answer

This week you have three options. Choose one only. If you have an interest in writing about the other issues as well, why not take that over to the regular discussion forum?

Option #1

“The Sexual Revolution”

It’s clearly going to be impossible to appreciate what Mary Eberstadt is up to in Adam and Eve After the Pill, without appreciating how she understands the whole idea of “the Sexual Revolution”. More than the World Wars, more than nuclear power, more than decolonization – more than anything else – it’s supposed to be the most important event of our age. What is it about the Sexual Revolution that would merit that evaluation?

Option #2

WHAT TERRI WOULD HAVE WANTED

Peter Wenz is clearly troubled that “living wills” might not accurately reflect what a patient in extremismight want. However, he also reports suspicions about the relevance and appropriateness of accessing a patient’s wishes through remembered conversations from better times. Why the rumpus about “What Terri would have wanted”?

Option #3

THE MEANING OF LIFE

In warning against the ‘vice of abstraction’ Blackburn suggests that the large existential problem of “the meaning of life” perhaps ought to be resolved by specifying “meaning to whom?” Is that a satisfactory response to the existential problem people pose? If so, why? If not, why not?

Professional Experience #3

OneDriveLink

To complete the Professional Experience assignment you MUST use the link to OneDrive above and sign in with your my.strayer.edu username (issued when enrolled in this course) and iCampus password.

If you run into any issues, please contact your instructor or call the IT Helpdesk at 1-877-642-2999, Option 2.

  1. Follow the link above to download the PowerPoint presentation file titled “PPT_Resources.”
  2. Save the file to your desktop using the following file name format: Your_Name_Wk5_PPT.pptx
  3. Make sure to save it with your name!
  4. Locate an article, video, or other
resource that relates to using PowerPoint or effective slide design.
Using the saved PPT slide on your desktop, provide a summary of this
resource on the provided body slide (slide 2). This should be a brief
summary (much like Professional Experience #2). Include a link to the
resource/information on the slide. Do not alter or delete any other
    students’ slides.
  5. Save the Your_Name_Wk5_PPT.pptx
file. Upload your completed PowerPoint file to OneDrive by clicking
“Upload” in the menu bar at the top of the OneDrive webpage.
  6. Browse to find your saved file on your computer.
  7. When the upload is complete, submit
a copy of the Your_Name_Wk5_PPT.pptx file to Blackboard using the
“Professional Experience #3” link in Week 5.

2. In order to receive credit for completing this task you must:

  1. Provide a useful article, video, or other resource on using PowerPoint and/or effective slide design.
  2. Include a brief summary of the resource on the slide.
  3. Limit your resource overview to one slide.
  4. Submit the Your_Name_Wk5_PPT.pptx file to Blackboard in the “Professional Experience #3” link.

Easy communications discussion activity

For this week’s discussion activity, do the following:

1) Select a talk show interview that you are familiar with and provide a URL link to one specific interview aired on this talk show

2) Discuss the speech features that make this talk show genre recognizable (Note: your discussion needs to be thorough, covering the sequence of acts, styles, and jargons used in this talk show)

3) Taking a cultural perspective, what do we expect from a talk show interview in American mainstream culture? Does the talk show (and the participants in this show) you selected match the cultural expectations for a talk show genre in America? If so, in what ways? If not, why.

Horror Movie Genre and it’s effects

A substantive message consists of a (1) minimum 150 words; (2) references to the readings, videos,

1.  In some instances, genres overlap each other, as in Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead. In your opinion, do you think these movies fall into an existing genre, such as horror or comedy? If so, which one do they fall into? Why did you select this genre? If not, how would you define the genre? What would you call it?

2.  Many science fiction films are set in a dystopian future (meaning a future that is frightening and oppressive). What types of stories and action are typical of these films? What would you do to break the mold in this type of film?

3.  Horror films have a long history in Hollywood beginning with Dracula and Frankenstein, whose source materials came from original published novels. Dracula can be thought of as a folktale and Frankenstein was, in part, inspired by science experiments known to the author Mary Shelley. What folktales and current scientific thought should serve as inspiration to modern filmmakers?

Literature Writing Short Story

Read the following short stories:
• O’Connor, “A Good Man is Hard to Find” (pages 295 – 309)
• Walker, “Everyday Use” (pages 344 – 352)
• Welty “A Worn Path” (pages 386 – 394)
• Kaplan, “Doe Season” (pages 395 – 408)

Be sure to rely on the stories for support by using details and quotations to explain your ideas/response. In each response, reference at least ONE literary craft element in your response (i.e., character, theme, point of view, symbolism, tone etc) to support/develop your ideas. You are also required to make use of no fewer than THREE scholarly sources in this week’s Complete. I recommend using one source per question.

Needs to be in APA Format.

1. What does it mean to be a “good” man and a “good woman” in “A Good Man is Hard to Find?”

2. Select three key symbols in “Everyday Use.” How do they differ in the way that Dee and her mother understand them?

3. Show at least three moments along the way when Phoenix might have abandoned her mission in “A Worn Path.” In your response, explain the relationship between the symbolism of ‘a phoenix’ and how that relates to the protagonist’s determination and resilience?
