Conduct research in the CSU Online Library or locate other reliable resources connected with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about a state or local law enforcement or intelligence agency, and address the following issues:

• Identify the agency/department.
• Describe the mission and duties of the agency/department.
• Analyze how the expanded efforts of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security enhanced the ability of local, state, and federal levels of law enforcement and intelligence agencies to protect and guard the country against a terrorist attack. Provide an example to support your position.

The essay should be a minimum of two pages in length, and it should contain a title page and reference page. The title and reference pages do not count toward meeting the minimum page requirement.

Format the paper using APA style. Write the essay in a formal writing style rather than a conversational writing style. Include two scholarly references, one of which can be the textbook. At least one source should be from the CSU Online Library since it is a valuable resource for homeland security information.

Assignment 1: Management to Address Special Needs of Culturally Diverse Employees

A large chain of beauty salons hire you as a consultant. The organization’s management team faces a unique problem. About 1 percent of the employees have speech, hearing, visual, physical, or mental disabilities.

The management believes that it may not be addressing the special needs of the diverse employees because the organization lacks a diversity policy for employees with special needs. The management is also concerned that they may lose these employees to their competitors, who may have diversity policies for their workforces.

For the management prepare a one page diversity policy for employees with special needs. Include the following sections in your policy:

1. Diversity Needs To Be Addressed — This section should list the diversity needs that the policy aims to address and your rationale for the policy.
2. Retaining Diverse Employees — This section should focus on your recommendations on how the management can attract and retain diverse employees.
3. Preliminary Implementation Plan — This section should include your preliminary plan on how the management should implement the policy.

effects and material rhetoric.

Instructions

Please complete the assignment in a single
Word document and submit it to complete the assignment.

In 400–600 words, or about one to two pages (in
Times New Roman with 12-point font and indented paragraphs), identify
an object in your home and analyze it as a persuasive artifact.
Include a word count in your submission. All papers
must be free from typographical and spelling mistakes. Errors of
grammar, syntax, and composition affect the assignment grade.

2. How does it persuade you to think, do, or
   believe as such?

Your analysis should focus on claims made by the
artifact about your personal identity
(race/gender/orientation/membership). Make a clear and thoughtful
argument about the object as something that can be understood as a
material instance of rhetoric. This argument should not
be limited to whether the object was merely aesthetic, functional, or
in conversation with community standards, but should judge it
according to the criteria of how it—intentionally or not—persuades
you to think, act, or believe in specific ways. Were the purposes of
the object (assuming it had an intended purpose) fulfilled by its
persuasive stance or contradicted? What were the consequences or

For this assignment you will be writing your own personal
position statement on your beliefs about play. As you create your position
statement consider the following questions:

What do you believe about children and play?
What do you think children gain from play?
How will you foster an environment that supports play?

Your paper should be two to three pages long and should be
supported by experts in the field of early childhood education or child
development. Be sure to document your resources used in your
paper.
