Identify which financing option you think is the best option

Step 1: Financing

The junior accounting team has assembled a Financing Report that (a) offers three options for securing the additional funds required to meet the new order; and (b) details the criteria Shaun, the owner of SunsTruck, would like you to consider when choosing one of the three options. Based on this report:

  • Identify which financing option you think is the best option for SunsTruck to pursue given Shaun’s constraints. Please explain the rationale for your decision.

Note: You should complete Steps 2 & 3 after reading the material in Week 5.

Step 2: Accounting Cycle

A junior accountant is working to get everything in order for the new financing and has come to you with a question about what do next in the accounting cycle.

  • Read the email the junior accountant sent you and identify the best next step to take in the accounting cycle. Please explain your reasoning.

Step 3: Financial Statements

A potential investor has been identified, but before it is willing to commit, it has requested information about SunsTruck’s current debt from the junior accountants.

  • Identify the correct financial statement for your junior accountants that will provide the investor with the information it has requested. Please explain to your junior accountants why you are giving them this financial statement and where the debt information is located.

Module 4 artifact

For this particular artifact watch the news for reports of extreme cases of behavior in order to find evidence that news analysts overemphasize drastic cases in reporting the news. Does reporting acts of terrorism, for instance, lead us to a distorted perception of the views of the average resident of the terrorists’ home countries (e.g., Arabs, Muslims, Serbs)? Discuss the role the media plays in representative and availability heuristics.

Watch Are We Scaring Ourselves to Death? via the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmiFShBQDIs

This 20-20 report shows how biased media coverage (e.g., plane crashes) can lead to overestimation of certain events (availability heuristic).

Visual artifact idea: take a screen shot of something that struck you while watching the video. Write a reflective statement of how this video brought this concept to life.

I’m overloaded with assignments and need help with this extra credit?

In this course, students can receive up to 20 points of extra credit (unless they have been caught cheating). One way to get a lot of extra credit is to complete the third Mock Interview paper. Here is another way. Professor Michael Sandel has a free MOOC available on Youtube called, “Justice: What’s the Right Think to Do?” There are 12 total videos in this series, each about 55 minutes long. If you watch a video and write both a summary of the two lectures in each video and a critical response to each, then you can receive up to 5 points of extra credit for each video you write up. Papers should be a full two pages, double-spaced, minimum in order to get a full five points (they also have to be well-written to get the full credit). A critical response is when you analyze the issues and arguments present in the video. Are they good arguments? Should other issues have been discussed? etc.

WARNING: Plagiarism on these assignments will not be tolerated. Any instance of plagiarism will not only result in a zero on the assignment, but will also disqualify the student from receiving ANY extra credit for the semester. I am giving you this warning because I am perfectly aware that there are summaries of the videos available on Youtube and elsewhere. The summaries and critiques should be in your words. If you use the words of others, they must be placed in quotation marks and cited. I will put five extra credit assignments up on Blackboard. Please post your papers there. If you do more than five, please email them to me. Extra credit for non-seniors is due on the day the final exam is scheduled for this course. Extra credit for graduating seniors is due Sunday, May 7th at 8:00 pm.

Here is the link to the first video in the series. You do not have to watch the videos in order. You may choose the ones on subjects that are of most interest to you.

Remember, students can receive at most 20 points of extra credit.

Watch the video and answer the following questions

  • What is a subprime mortgage?
  • How did banks market mortgages?
  • In 2004, the SEC eased leverage requirements for investment banks. What does this mean? (Remember Chapter 17 ratios?)
  • Describe how the Federal Reserve can use its authority to attempt to stimulate the economy.
  • One of the major problems that led to the financial crisis was the housing bubble. What is meant by the term “housing bubble”?
  • Name and explain the four reasons the Congressional committee identified for the recent financial crisis.

Requirement:

50 word minimum for each question

Clarity: concepts are clear and well-articulated

Critical thinking skills: Concise analysis. Considered the issues from all perspectives

Key Concepts: demonstrates understanding of all pertinent concepts

Format: Correct spelling, grammar. Readability.

PRESENTATION TIPS

1. Keep slides simple. For example, just put the research question on a slide, then explain the details orally.

2. The flip side of that is: You can read what the slide says to everyone, but make sure you go into more detail.

3. Suggestion: Make a separate slide for each of the following:

  • From chapter one, a slide for each of the following: Research question, hypothesis with independent variable being tested, and social problem.
  • From chapter two, a slide for each theory you will apply (Explain to the class the definition of the theory and how it applies to the problem.)
  • From chapter three: NOTHING
  • From chapter four: Was your hypothesis proved, disproved or partially proved? (Orally explain why you go that outcome/the research that supported it.)
  • Chapter five, a slide or two for conclusions, discussion, recommendations. Suggestion: List these in a few words each in bullet points so these slide(s) don’t get loaded with tiny text, then briefly orally explain each.

Essay 4 Final Draft: Gender Politics in Gidget

Page Requirements

2-3 pages

Point Value

100

Required Texts Needed To Write This Paper

  1. Watch the 1959 film Gidget starring Sandra Dee. (You can acquire the film yourself or watch my copy available for viewing at the Library with GCC student id; students must watch the film at the Library and are not allowed to take the DVD home. Bring your own earbuds.)
  2. See Chapter 6 (“The Surf Boom”) of The World in the Curl by Westwick and Neushul.

In your introductory paragraph: (Should only be one paragraph long and no longer than half a page.)

Summarize the plot of the film Gidget. Also describe the impact the film and novel had on the surf boom of the early 1960’s at the time it came out.

In your thesis answer the following question:

Discuss one way Gidget empowers herself and one way she disempowers herself as she struggles to fit in with the 1950s Malibu surfer crew by learning to surf herself in the iconic film Gidget.

In your body paragraphs, make sure to

  • Support your discussion of the film Gidget by describing and analyzing specific scenes from the film.
  • Make sure to follow up all quotations and film scene analysis with a 4-5 sentence explanation of how they support your topic sentence claim.

ORGANIZATION TIPS

1) Thesis formation: The thesis should subdivide into the same number of points as your total number of body paragraphs. If you have two body paragraphs, your thesis would subdivide into two points. Thesis needs to be the last sentence of your introduction. The thesis should fully answer the essay question. It should also be specific, concise, and arguable.

2) Body Paragraph Organization and Unity: Each body paragraph should discussion one idea that supports the thesis; in other words, body paragraphs should not repeat ideas from previous paragraphs and should not contain more than one main idea.

3) Topic Sentences: Each body paragraph must begin with a topic sentence that tells the reader which thesis idea that paragraph will be about.

4) Concluding Sentences: Each body paragraph should end with a concluding sentence that restates topic sentence main ideas and adds supportive reasoning. The goal is to summarize the main examples you covered in that body paragraph.

5) Quotations: You will need to support any assertions you make with a discussion of quotations from the texts assigned. All quotations should have an introductory phrase and should use the following MLA format: Westwick and Neushul write, “XX” (24).

6) Quotation Analysis: All quotations should be followed by 4-5 or more sentences that provide a detailed explanation of how the quotation supports your body paragraph’s main idea.

7) Title: Divided into two parts separated by a colon. Centered. Double-spaced like your heading and the rest of your paper. Capitalize all key words. Should be a fragment. Not underlined or in boldface. No period at the end of the title. Your title should not just copy the title of this essay prompt or the title of the readings. Example:

Surfing Topic: Your Two Thesis Ideas

8) Conclusion: A place for you to summarize your thesis and add any last reflections on your topic. Should be no longer than half of a page.

9) Essay formatting: Use MLA format. For help, see Purdue University OWL website and click on the MLA section.

10) Number of Paragraphs: In order to pass, your essay must have an introduction that ends in a thesis statement, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Replay on two different topics Discussions about Readying And study strategy

Hi there ,

i have two topics Discussions i want to replay to some people posts

two post that need replay doe them

the first one is about :

Option One:

In her TED talk, Angela Lee Duckworth describes the importance of grit. Make connections between academic grit and learning styles. The connections will not necessarily be obvious, so make sure your classmates understand the connection and the importance of the connections.

Option Two:

Since the concept of grit has been popularized, many critics have deemed it an oversimplification and particularly insensitive to the unique circumstances of those who suffer from poverty or other types of stress. React to this criticism. If you chose to do some research first, including Duckworth’s response, include your sources.

here is the first post that i need replay for:

I can completely understand why people would view the concept of grit as insensitive to those who deal with poverty and stress on a daily basis, and agree with it. When I think of the word grit, I think of being able to push through everything life has to give you, not something you need to do well in school. Even the definition of grit is ‘firmness of mind or spirit: unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger’ (Merriam-Webster, 2018), does not seem to scream ‘success in school’ to me. Using this definition to define what you need to succeed in school is definitely a slap to the face of people who use grit to get through life.

I use grit to get through my life because I’m going blind. I use grit to get through school, because I’m going blind. This whole grit movement just seems to me to be another excuse as to why students aren’t doing well in school, when the really problem just might be how we are teaching. We rely too much on test scores, and not enough on knowing the actual information we learned.

“Grit.” Merriam-Webster, Merriam-Webster, 6 Sept. 2018, www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/grit.

the seconed one is about :

The second discussion question is based on the second CPEL video. Make the distinction between shallow and deep processing. Then, provide a specific example of how you might use deep processing to study for one of your classes.

link to the Video :

here is the second post that i want to replay for :

Shallow vs. Deep Processing

The level of processing when studying is significant in its ability to differentiate between simple understanding or memorization of something compared to legitimately learning and relating to a concept. Shallow processing can have its uses, especially for someone like me who uses nemonic devices to remember of retain information, and while it may help me to remember something I may not get a full grasp of the concept. For example, in chemistry I decided to try and memorize the entire periodic table so the second period (Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Florine, Neon) became this instead, Listen Beavis! Boys Can’t Name Oprah’s Frog’s Neurologist. Now while this was effective in helping me remember certain element’s places in the table do you think I could tell you any of the properties of the elements? Absolutely not. Now on the deep processing side this is actually learning the concepts of the subject to help learn, in the 9th grade I had to memorize the location of every single continent through the course of the quarter and to do this we learned specific details of each country before we were tested on the location. So by learning about the population, GDP, primaryexport etc… of a country, when if came time to locate the country on a map I was pulling more information than simply a shape on a map

Objective: Demonstrate the connections between secondary sources and a personal reading of a primary, English homework help

Poetry is a form of art that is almost as old as literacy itself, but sadly, it has in many ways fallen to the wayside of American life. Creley uses poetry to capture his own unique sense of the world, a sense of the world that in many ways is a reflection of the millennial generation itself. We will use Creley’s poetry as a way to engage with some larger conversations about what really makes the millennial generation work.

In a 5 page MLA format essay, analyze how one of Creley’s poems captures distinctly millennial perspectives or traits as identified by one of the articles from class. Essentially, you are going to show how one of Creley’s poems captures something uniquely millennial as identified by the articles that we have read in class. Is it how he approaches concepts of faith? Is it how his work blends a certain level of education into it? Is it how he deals with suicide? Is it how he details pension theft? Is it he how he includes a much more culturally diverse perspective? You will want to answer at least one of these questions and show how one of Creley’s poems directly speaks to an issue raised by these secondary readings. Remember: This is not just an analysis of his poem, summarizing it or even summarizing what it means to you. You are actively analyzing his poem to show it connects to one of the articles and the distinct qualities that a millennial possesses.

Especially since this is an intersession course, please start now. You are free to choose any poem from the collection, but I highly recommend that you choose one we will discuss in class. Start now, and if you would like me to view a draft, please feel free.
