Instructional designers typically employ models to guide their day-to-day work. Due to the increased practice of the systematic design of instruction in a growing number of settings, available models become more and more proliferated, focusing on particular types and contexts of learning, particular groups of learners or designers, or particular instructional units (either whole curricula or individual modules or lessons.)

The main goal of any instructional design process is to construct a learning environment in order to provide learners with the conditions that support desired learning processes.

The main goal of any instructional design process is to construct a learning environment in order to provide learners with the conditions that support desired learning processes (van Merriënboer, 1997, p. 2). Process models proliferate because more and more designers generate models that focus on specific contexts, learners, or even units of instruction, according to van Merriënboer.

The goal of instruction for the behaviorist is to elicit the desired response from the learner who is presented with a target stimulus. To accomplish this, the learner must know how to execute the proper response, as well as the conditions under which that response should be made. Therefore, instruction is structured around the presentation of the target stimulus and the provision of opportunities for the learner to practice making the proper response.

According to behaviorism, instruction should provide necessary stimulus in order for learners to produce desired response. It is important that the learner must know how to execute the proper response under the required conditions in order to produce the desired response (Ertmer & Newby, 1993). Instruction should provide learner with opportunities that the learner practice to elicit the desired outcome.

While most tutors saw a value in using games, as: ‘good for visual/kinesthetic learners’; ‘makes teaching and learning more fun, learners are able to work at their own pace‘; ‘breaks up the lesson, different learner styles’; ‘give my students variety and some fun whilst reinforcing their learning’.

According to Freitas (2006), games can support the learning styles of visual and kineasthetics learners. Games can make teaching and learning more fun, and learners are able to work at their own pace. Also, games are seen as a break from a lesson in which students reinforce their learning during the break.

Because computer systems exhibit performative intelligence, we can teach them to do tasks. It is this very capability that makes it possible to use computers as an interactive medium for instruction and learning. It is interaction which sets computers systems apart from other media such as books, television, and film. However, present-day computers literally do not understand the culturally bound meanings of the messages which they manipulate during these interactions because such computers lack qualitative intelligence.

According to Frick (1997), computer systems demonstrate performative intelligence, when compared to other media such as books, television, and film. Computers can be programmed to do things. This feature of computer systems makes them an alternative medium for instruction and learning. However, he claims that computer systems lack the ability to understand the meaning of messages they send and receive during interaction with students and teachers.

There is a desperate need for theorists and researchers to generate and refine a new breed of learning-focused instructional design theories that help educators and trainers to meet those needs, (i.e., that focus on learning and that foster development of initiative, teamwork, thinking skills, and diversity). The health of instructional-design theory also depends on its ability to involve stakeholders in the design process.

The lack of specific technology knowledge and skills, technology-supported pedagogical knowledge and skills, and technology-related-classroom management knowledge and skills has been identified as a major barrier to technology integration. Lack of specific technology knowledge and skills is one of the common reasons given by teachers for not using technology.

Science classrooms offer at least five ways to individualize and to enhance students’learning using games and simulations beyond what is possible in informal settings. First, teachers can assign students to teams based on detailed knowledge of learners’ intellectual and psychosocial characteristics. Second, in contrast to relatively unguided learning in contexts outside of school, science teachers can alter their classroom instruction and support based on the feedback educational games and simulations provide. Third, science games and simulations are adaptable to students with special needs, allowing them to be mainstreamed in science classrooms. Fourth, educational games and simulations can prepare students to take full advantage of real world field trips in science classrooms. Fifth, teachers through their knowledge of students can relate virtual experiences in science games and simulations to what is happening in the real world or in their personal lives.

According to Dede (2009), different games can be assigned and used based on students’ characteristics. Information about student performance when playing games can help science teachers plan subsequent classroom activities. Games also can be utilized for students with special needs, which can be selected to match their ability levels.

I accept the point that whenever learning occurs, some medium or mix of media must be present to deliver instruction. However, if learning occurs as a result of exposure to any media, the learning is caused by the instructional method embedded in the media presentation. Method is the inclusion of one of a number of possible representations of a cognitive process or strategy that is necessary for learning but which students cannot or will not provide for themselves.

The concept of systems is really quite simple. The basic idea is that a system has parts that fit together to make a whole; but where it gets complicated – and interesting – is how those parts are connected or related to each other. There are many kinds of systems: government systems, health systems, military systems, business systems, and educational systems, to name a few.

Frick (1991) claims that systems, including both business systems, and educational systems, are actually very simple. The main idea is that systems “have parts that fit together to make a whole” (The nature of systems in education section, para. 1). What is further interesting to Frick is how those parts are connected together.

Social Science Question

For the purposes of the Assignments in this module, you are a manager with Allied Products, a U.S.-based manufacturer of consumer packaged goods. Your company has recently acquired manufacturing operations in Mexico and will be using these facilities to vertically integrate production of several of your key product lines. You and a number of your U.S.-based counterparts will each be leading a profit center for a specific equipment type (yours is blenders). In the coming weeks, each of these profit centers will be forming a six- to eight-member team representing key functions in planning, manufacturing, marketing, and distributing its product. Each of these virtual teams will be led by a U.S.-based manager, some of whom are newer to the role and may lack experience in leading teams.

Your senior leader has asked you to create a set of three presentations for the group of managers about choosing appropriate communication methods and strategies for communicating effectively, taking into consideration the purpose of your message, your audience, and your context. In this case, you will want to highlight considerations for virtual teams, as well as culture, since Mexico is considered a higher context culture compared to the United States. Your presentations must include title slides and references slides that include appropriate academic and professional support for your ideas. You will also need to provide an accompanying script in the Notes section of each slide that you would use if you were delivering your presentation to your fellow group of U.S.-based managers. Each content slide should contain 3–5 bullet points (no more than 1 sentence each), with additional details and explanation provided in the accompanying script.

Submit your presentation and accompanying script in the Notes section of each slide. Be sure you are fully addressing the following in 4–5 slides, excluding references:

Introduction
  • Provide an introductory slide that grabs the audience’s attention and answers the “why you should listen” question for the audience. The script that accompanies this slide should introduce the topic and purpose of the presentation and provide the key objectives for the presentation. (1 slide)
The Communication Process
  • Examine components of the communication process.
    • Briefly define communication.
    • Identify the parts of the process and how they work together to promote effective communication. (1–2 slides)
  • Illustrate the importance of self-awareness in communication, including what it means to be a competent “sender.” (1 slide)
Conclusion
  • Provide one concluding/wrap-up slide in which you offer a compelling conclusion to the material by summarizing key points and reinforcing suggested practices through script contents that keep the audience engaged. (1 slide)
  • Please include pictures and make sure you address everything and it’s creative

Property Contracts

Please respond to the following:

  • Evaluating Thompson v. Voldah as government takes on more and more functions, explain if it makes sense for the rules to be different for private contractual parties especially when the contract states (as with “duly authorized”). Support your position with examples or evidence.
  • Analyzing Brunoli, Inc. v. Town of Bradford, identify and then describe the remedies that should be available. Explain which you would recommend to be the best remedy for both parties.
  • Evaluating Dolan v. City of Tigard, as a public administrator, take a position on whether you agree or disagree with the approach that the U.S. Supreme Court developed. Support your position with examples or evidence.
  • Analyzing Grose v. Sauvegeau, explain with details whether you agree or disagree that Sauvegeau should prevail.

Assignment: Position Paper

Assignment: Position Paper

Sometimes, during heated discussions and debates about social policy, the underlying reasons for the policy go unnoticed. Advocates and policymakers may become so committed to their perspectives and to winning the debates that they lose focus on the larger context surrounding an issue. The purpose of policy is to improve the lives and well-being of individuals and groups in our society. As you assume the role of a social work policymaker, consider the importance of keeping the needs and experiences of vulnerable populations at the forefront of your mind in your advocacy efforts. This can help to assure effective policy practice.

For this Assignment, you will analyze a state, federal, or global social welfare policy that affects an at-risk, marginalized, oppressed, underrepresented, or over looked group population. Finally, consider the impact of social policy from the perspective of the group you selected.

By Day 7

Assignment (5-7 double-spaced pages, APA format). In addition to a minimum of eight scholarly references, which may include electronic government documents and reputable websites, your paper should include:

  • A description of the current policy approach for addressing the social issue you selected
  • A description of the current policy goals for addressing the social issue you selected
  • A description of the population the current policy approach covers
  • An explanation of the funding levels for the current policy approach and whether they are sufficient to address the issue
  • An explanation of how this policy may affect at-risk, marginalized, underrepresented, overlooked, or oppressed populations. Identify a specific at-risk population.
  • An analysis of whether or not the policy meets the needs of the population groups most affected by the policy.
  • Recommendations for alternative policies that would address the gaps identified in the policy. Please be specific in recommendations.

Chapter 8 Entrepreneurial Challenge

Complete Chapter 8 Entrepreneurial Challenge (page 340): BUILD YOUR OWN BUSINESS. You will complete these assignments for each chapter throughout the semester and put together a final report at the end of the semester.

Write an analysis addressing ONE OF the following:

  1. Netflix reinvented the video rental business using supply chain technology. Netflix is the largest online DVD rental service, offering flat-rate rental by mail and over the Internet to customers. Customers can create their own personal list of movie favorites, and the DVDs are delivered by the U.S. Postal Service from one of Netflix’s warehouses. Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they want and simply return it by mail to receive their next selection. Netflix’s business is video rental, but it used technology to revamp its supply chain to disrupt the entire video rental industry. Define a way that you can revamp or reinvent your business by using supply chain technologies.
  2. Business is booming, and you have achieved your goal of driving operating costs down, which helps to drive revenues up. One of your best new products is from China, and it is accounting for a 20 percent increase in your profits. Yesterday, a dockworkers union strike began and shut down all of the West Coast shipping docks from San Francisco to Canada. Work will resume when the union agrees to new labor contracts, which could take months. You need to assess the impact of the shutdown on your business quickly. How will you keep business running if you cannot receive your shipments? What strategies do you recommend to help the business continue working while the supply chain is disrupted by the strike?

The national association for the educations of young children, psychology homework help

As your text states, “the early childhood field takes very seriously the need to adhere to ethical behavior” (Estes & Krogh, 2012, pg. 285). For this reason, the NAEYC has provided guidelines to assist early childhood educators with the decisions made on a daily basis that have both moral and ethical implications.

To prepare for this discussion, view NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct and reread the NAEYC’s Core Values outlined in Chapter 10 of your text.

For this discussion:

  • Choose four of the Core Values from Section 10.2 of our textbook.
  • For each Core Value you choose, discuss how you would implement it into your future classroom.
    • For example, if your chosen Core Value was “Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual (child, family member, and colleague”, you might discuss changes you would make to a traditional holiday curriculum that would reflect this value.
  • Explain how your knowledge and understanding of these values will help to make you a better early childhood educator and colleague
