Agricultural Discussion 2-3 Paragraphs

For your discussion post you will need to identify an Agricultural Process and link that process in as many ways you can think of to Economy, Energy and Employment.

You can select you process from any type or form of Agriculture including Aquaculture, Organic Farming, Monoculture, Viticulture, or even a Livestock Operation. From your readings this week, there are several examples of processes that you can choose from!

Just remember that you are at the mercy of your fellow students who will be critiquing your Topic Post with their replies so you want to make clear and concise links. You may want to use an outline format to make it clear what the good features of your process are as well as the drawbacks to using the process. When you look over your post before submitting it, take the time to ask yourself if the process would be seen as more or less sustainable if it was implemented in a different area of agriculture.

These will help.

dance history (request: please use simple vocabularies and sentences)

1) Identify a research topic (choreographer, dancer, genre/style, or dance issue)

2) Narrow down what aspect within your topic you are interested in. For

example:

a. “Ballet” is too broad. Consider instead “Africanist aesthetic influences

in the development of 20

th

century ballet” or “The shifting aesthetic of

the ballet body in 21

st

century ballet”

b. “Martha Graham” is too broad. Consider instead “The use of Greek

Mythology and metaphor in Graham’s work” or “A case study

analyzing the legacy of early modern dance pioneer dance companies

such as the Martha Graham Dance company.

3) Locate two sources utilizing the database and collection available in the

library. (One journal or essay and one book. No blog or informal web source)

4) Summarize the sources in formal paragraph form, (see article abstracts for

examples) and

specify how they support your topic research

. (For example,

if your topic is how the choreographic legacy of how Lester Horton shaped

the development of modern dance in America, sources should be directly

relatable to this aspect of dance history.)

Disaster Behavioral Health in context and Personal Development

  1. Think about the application of disaster mental health in the field. How is this skillset and application helpful? For example, how does it tie into Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and how is that helpful in a post-disaster context?
  2. How would this skillset and knowledge help you in the work you do in emergency management? How can you apply these skills or where would they come in useful?
  3. Drawing on your Reading Resources (attached), what is one element of Self-Care that you find helpful and that you do or would use to keep your stress levels under control during a response (whether as a responder or emergency manager)?

Critical Commentaries

WOMS/SOC 306

Length: 1 page

Times New Roman, 12pt font, 1″ margins, double spaced

Due: Class Periods Assigned

Critical Commentaries will be based on your interaction with the assigned readings. The success of this class depends on everyone doing the reading before class and coming to class prepared to discuss it. Many people read, but never think about what they are reading. In these assignments you will need to keep a detailed response to the readings. These can include key passages, key terms, and information that you deem important. Your Format should follow these guidelines:

  1. You will be required to create a Discussion Question: A question that could be used to stimulate class discussion. These questions could ask other students to discuss a particular point in the reading, to identify key concepts from the reading, to examine the conclusions of one author in light of another’s work, to speculate the implications of a particular argument, or to develop ideas about social action or some way of changing society to make it better. These questions should raise a specific issue from the readings you are interested in discussing or that has puzzled you in some way. Be sure to refer to the readings in your question. (5 pts)
  2. Next, speculate on what an answer to your discussion question might be given the current readings. You are welcome to include a personal reflection given what you’ve learned in the course or your own personal experiences (like a critical reaction paper), but you must refer back to (citing page numbers) the reading(s) for the day. (25 pts)
  3. Finally, list 2 key points, either terms (with definitions) or take home messages that you believe your classmates should understand from the readings.(10 pts)

Teaching Virtues

Based upon your reading of Dr. Christina Sommers’ article on Virtue Ethics and & the video lecture by Tamar Gendler on the same topic, write a 2 to 3 page essay (double-spaced; MS doc file or rtf) answering the questions given in the instructions. You must support your analysis with at least two short quotations from the reading and/or video, properly notated. Proper MLA or APA in text citations are required. Each quotation must be no more than 40 words. Topic Instructions are given below.

Instructions:

Based upon your reading of Dr. Christina Sommers’ article on Virtue Ethics & the video lecture by Tamar Gendler on the same, write a 2 to 3 page essay (double-spaced) on what virtue ethics is and how each of these philosophers explains it. You will need to answer the following questions: According to Sommers, what is the main problem today and what is her basic answer both in terms of content and scope? And then, from the lecture by Dr. Gendler, explain how we can turn normative commitments into descriptive laws and what does it mean to do that, according to her explanation of Aristotle’s virtue ethics (video link)? Do you think it is fair to say that virtue ethics, as Tamar Gendler explains this moral theory, is a type of human programming and, if so, does this view challenge or undercut the idea of good human behavior as a matter of choice rather than response without thought? Explain. Do you think this approach of Professor Gendler to how virtue ethics becomes part of us goes along with Professor Sommers’ thesis on what is needed in schools today or not? Explain. Finally, what part of Christina Sommers’ analysis and proposal you find convincing, if any, and what part of it, if any, do you find questionable?

English Essay Power Coming Together

1.Three different pictures are posted for the essay. You can select either one as the topic of your essay.

2.The description essay will include things such as the time period, the weather, the kinds of houses and buildings around, the behavior of the people, and anything else you want to include to portray what you would see if you were there. It’s ok to use bits and pieces about what you see in the image, but the focus is description of the entire picture. A sample sentence could be, “While the main image in the picture is very clear, the smaller, background items are necessary to portray the message of the entire picture.”

3. Focus on the picture itself, but it is also good if you can use your imagination to describe what you think is going on based on the way you see the picture. Look beyond the images themselves and think about what could have caused this to happen, where it is happening, who is involved, a possible solution, an intended meaning or message, etc. The more creative, the better, but don’t forget to describe the picture as the major part of the essay.

4. Remember that the length of the essay is 500 words, written according to MLA format, and contains NO PERSONAL PRONOUNS. Use your textbook and writing handbook to understand the way to write without using personal pronouns. Also, use a real title and not just Descriptive Essay. For example, use something like Fire on the Way.

Final Project: Biopsychological Analysis of a Neuropsychological Disorder, psychology homework help

Final Project: Biopsychological Analysis of a Neuropsychological Disorder

In your Final Project, you will synthesize an overview of the major theories relating to the pathology of a disorder as well as provide a detailed discussion of the etiology (causes) and clinical interventions, using research to support your analysis.  Your topic will be the neuropsychological disorder that was selected and approved by the instructor in your Week One assignment, and for which you provided an outline in the Week Two assignment.

In keeping with the focus of this class, the emphasis of your paper will be on the neuroscience aspects of the disorder, to include:

  • Theories of etiology (causes)
  • Associated factors in development of the disorder (genetic, environmental, familial, lifestyle)
  • Pathology (abnormalities of physical structure and function, including genetic and biochemical aspects)
  • Treatment options (pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic, with rationales for use based on current understanding of the disorder)
  • Diagnostic and research technologies employed in clinical diagnosis, care, and basic science research

Your research will include a minimum of six to eight peer-reviewed sources, which provide evidence-based information regarding the biological and psychological features of the disorder and were published within the last five years. At least four of your references should be peer-reviewed publications of original research studies. To justify your assertions, provide in-text citations for all factual statements taken from your research, with corresponding references drawn from scholarly sources.  All citations and sources are to be documented according to APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center, and should support and enhance your analysis of the selected disorder.
